Not bodysoaking during objective if you can. Some times you have to stop your travel to hat and save someone, but that’s different.
Not knowing how to place mines in optimal spots. I recommend you going into ai solo and click across the map to move, watch the pathing your character takes - it helps you learn optimal mining positions to catch people rotating.
Not pinging when you see a enemy hit your mines. Sure, your team should be watching the map too, but the ping can be all the difference between your teammate living or dying. (Although some just ignore the pings and die anyhow…)
Experiment with what you can hat. I’ve picked up a surprising number of kills using things like Mule, summons, and the like. Mule can help delay channel objectives since you can hat and poke with it, often letting people on the way get there in time to stop them.
Even if you’re not body soaking try to have it so your locusts can reach minions, every little bit helps, even if not locust build. SO many let their locusts go to waste…
Stop taking Monstrosity on tiny maps. I see this way too often. It shines more on large maps that take people awhile to get from one end to the other. People can see Monstrosity on the map. Unless they’re stupid they’re going to run to it and kill it before you can beef it up. Big maps makes it harder, especially if you’re mining properly to see them coming.
Learn when to babysit Monstrosity and when to help team, when you do pick monstrosity. I See so many abathur with Monstrosity only sit on it, and end up useless most of the game, and only hat while it’s dead.
Even with mines, be aware of your positioning and of your team’s, several heroes can easily gank you even behind walls. If a stealthy is missing and managed to avoid your mines you might want to consider repositioning.
Don’t sit in one spot all game. Makes you predictable, and easy to gank. Don’t constantly burrow to the same spot either for pooping locusts if you’re running that build, people WILL time it and wait for you to show up. Be unpredictable.
I could list more but I don’t want to flood the page.
