I’ve noticed something after having two different accounts silenced and I have a theory based on it.
I think once your account gets reported and punished for something your chance of being matched with other people that have been punished goes up drastically and stays that way a long time, possibly forever.
From a distributers standpoint, it would be advantuous to do so, one minor part of managing the toxic aspects of anon pvp online.

And to fuel this conspiracy fire: I have only ever had this one account and have maybe had 1 toxic player in the last 50 or so QM and ARAM matches and maybe one leaver in the last 20. (And we won with his bot getting MVP.)
I believe that if you can hold out past the initial match making, you will eventually be more consistently placed with more civil players.
Hard to say, we’d need stats.
But It would kind of make sense to put all the bullies together.
leavers queue is a thing.
People that disrupt some of the games (being afk, disconnecting, leaving drafts) get put into a queue with other disruptive players.
Otherwise, the game uses “match making ratings” for forming matches. Problematic playera tend to occupy a particular mmr, avoid doing things that help them imrpove their mmr (as they often lash out and occupy themselves with in-fighting) so they tend to fall into a particular matching range.
Now mmr is also influenced by region (ping) time of day, mode/hero matching and “matching confidence”
So players that tend to report, and be reported, tend to fall into similar metrics with the other qualities. If players stop re-rolling alts from actionable conduct, then they might reach the mmr where that’s not as prevalent, and be more likely to have “normal” games.
But thus is the difficulty is discerncing the difference between coorelations and causations.
Granted, I personally can’t “disprove” whay the matching is or isn’t doing, but I think it is more consistent that particular players act a way reinforces their matching then for people to assume another background element was made to personally vex them beyond what matching already does
It will stick forever. It never changes. I’ve had several accounts and wether I’m toxic or not, i get toxic players or even very inexperienced players in my team.
I think even chatting in the general chat and getting reported there for a comment someone doesn’t agree with gets u in that gutter.
I just see the MM as fully random. It randomly matches you with whomever.. toxic or not.. the one that is available around your rank.
