He needs something! He used to be able to chain people to structures and had more damage before they nerfed it. As it stands now he is at a huge risk having to get close to the enemy team to attempt a chain combo leaving him vulnerable to being bursted by said tea and then if you miss your combo its lights out for you unless your team can save you. Other mages are capable of more damage and a longer range at that point why even pick KT?
I’m not sure what kind of buffs he needs but I think something would be nice Maybe they can extend his quest for some extra benefits at higher stacks?

I thought this was about Kael’thas at first…
Kel’thuzad is doing fine right now. He has a solid 50% winrate over the last couple of patches, and his pickrate isn’t even terrible either, at 8%.

kelthuzad is really good against that 5 man carry group that relies on 2 people to deal the damage, i was 2 manning going vikings with kelthuzad to rush out 10, his root into spike spam works pretty well when the enemies get slowed by olaf. Thats like the only thing i know about kelthuzad apart from him being terrifying
He still can. Just take minus armor on lvl 1 and do your combo. I got deleted as Diablo when he combo me with the minus armor talent.
Me too. I don’t think Kel struggles in the meta, his only issue is that he’s hard to play, kinda like Alarak or Genji. But Kael on the other hand feels indeed subpar, because everyone already learned how to play against him and with bomb being weak, his early is extremely bad before 16. Only Convection would help him in the early, but tbh. why would anyone pick Convection, if he can go for Mana addict? His mana issues are too hard to ignore with.
I think you have mistaken. This thread is about KTZ.

No, I don’t, but you have misunderstood my comment, the explaination was literally in the beginning:
FYI: Kel =! Kael, but Kel = KEL’thuzad = KTZ and I didn’t knew that I can’t mention that Kael would need some love like OP suggests for KTZ…
Chaining to structures was rather finicky to work with on multiple levels. I’d really rather not deal with that headache again.
It wasn’t that great anyway. It was seldom used once games went on long enough due to structures permanently vanishing.
Damage-wise, I’d say he’s doing well in that regard. However, there are a number of talents that could definitely use some help.
For example, Might of the Scourge was niche before the nerfs, and is now only usable in a very small number of situations. It takes 4 seconds for a duplicate fissure to land, which means that to hit someone with it, you either need them to root themselves for a long duration with an ability, have really really long stuns, or the enemy needs to be mentally incapable of moving out of the way. I basically only take it against Hammer, Anas that go Eye of Horus, or sometimes when I have an ETC with Mosh Pit.
Ice Cold’s damage bonus is far too unreliable to hit to warrant taking it for that purpose, and the default 30 seconds cooldown is enough to cover the amount of times he’ll need to use the Spike.
Strip Shields should basically be replaced with something else at this point. I only take it against Fenix and that’s it.
Icy Grasp’s CDR is fairly pointless given that he typically needs the chains to set up Frost Nova. I suppose if you took a non-standard build you could root people forever until they die or KTZ runs out of mana (I tested this, it works), but you’d need to catch at least 3 heroes with Frost Nova’s center to do so. It’s just not worth it.
Deathchill also has its issues. While entertaining to watch when it works, it’s pretty inconsistent. Furthermore, The Damned Return provides much more consistent value and utility and basically outclasses it.

KT, the lich is the 8th highest winrate R.Assassin in high mmr in last 3 patches. This includes the now op Zag (no1). He does not need love nor “something”.

Kel’Thuzad is really fine.
KTz is one of the few heroes that scares the bejesus out of me when well played.
In lower leagues he is pretty much GG without cleanse. He is fine.
Unlike most mages, he is a multi-target threat at all times, but is reliant on a sturdy front line to truly shine. Some mages can blow up multiple people if they stack up, but a good KTZ can create the stacks. Making him more self-reliant would require toning down what makes him powerful, and I am not sure if that would be a good trade-off.
Yes, if the circumstances aren’t good for him, pick another mage, but the same could be said for any hero/role.

He is one of the “butthurt generator” heroes lots of ppl hate to play against. For the sake of health of already shrinking community, he should not remain particularly strong.
I think he is in fine spot now. Very high risk hero, but also rewarding for players stubborn enough to master him. He’s being countered by half of the hero pool, so he’s not a big deal in most matches.

Ye there will always be heroes like those. They complain about the hero being busted but ignores that he is hard to play and req the player to have good aim and game awareness and a good frontline too.
I bet those people who complain about those heroes dont even play a single game with either KTZ, Maiev, Alarak or just any hard to play hero.

Or neither of their counters.
In addon to his easy-to-counter nature, KTZ belongs to the same genre of heroes as Qhira or Orphea - miss one skillshot, and the hero can barely do anything, as rest of their skills highly depends on that critical skillshot as a combo opener. Blizz apparently likes hero designs like that.
I solo KTZ as Lucio with Reverse Amp. It’s all about avoiding the chains. Any character has enough damage to kill KTZ. That paper-thin his HP is.
Not only Blizz, but I enjoy to have heroes like KTZ either, because I love Hots for their different heroes and playstyles, most players probably agree on that.
