HOTS - It was a good run

This game has become a total disappointment. It started really promising several years ago, but lately, in my opinion, its slowly diyng.

Ever since the 2.0 version the devs are more interested in sprays, portraits and banners, rather than trying to improve the gaming mechanism.

Ranked is full of trolls or afk-ers who just want “to have fun”. They ignore the team in taking objectives and defending. For me the last games in ranked ended in utter deafeats in less then 12-13 minutes.

QM has a very twisted and frustrating matchmaking system (3 supp, aba, tracer vs 2 tanks, 1 assa, 1 spec, 1 heal … for example).

For me, after 4200+ games in HOTS, there’s no more fun in playing this game.

I recently received a ban until today, november 12, for Abusive Language.

YES, I deserved the ban, but its really frustrating to play with teammates, even high level ones, who completly ignore the team, play badly and intentionally die. Its hard for me to hold my tongue against them.

As I said, I completly deserved the ban, but I wonder, what is blizzard doing against the trolls, afkers and “suicide bombers” that are ruininng the gameplay experience and force certain other players to backlash at them with abusive chat. I see that this game is getting full of such bad players by the day and blizzard is NOT doing anything to solve this.

I think I’m gonna do what most of the players are doing and thats leaving the game for good.

Gonna try Dota 2. See how that works out

R.I.P. HOTS

P.S. English is not my first language

They’re not doing anything against them, the only bans they seem to give are ones to people that finally snapped against their drunken orangutan teammates and were reported by them.

Sigh

The game certainly feels like dating a girl that’s amazing at first until she stops listening to what you need but hits you up for money time to time. >.>

Blizzard made it clear at BlizzCon that content took priority over anything else. They say stuff like, “we still want to put in a party finder, BUT…”

nobody is ‘forced’ to backlash at people with chat. Esp since… drumroll it doesn’t anything to fix/stop/amend the situation.

but I guess when most of your complaint comes from the playerbase, I guess the idea of trying to cuss people out or whatever starts to seem appealing. Yea, it’d be nice if the devs could do something about that, but last i checked, traffic violations doesn’t get people to be a better driver either. Heck, where I live the ‘best’ thing to try to incentivize people to be less terrible at vehicular operation is to not die.

trouble is, that sort of method doesn’t work for games since ‘death’ isn’t much a consequence to be a worthwhile incentive despite, well, the reality that not-dying in hots is a moderate indicator of decent play.

Oh get off your high horse. If you play enough with awful teammates you’re going to get pissed off. Just because YOU choose to not say anything doesn’t mean the game design and playerbase didn’t piss you off. All you are doing is being critical of how someone else vents when they are upset.

Your driving comment is completely unrelated. You cannot control how people are going to act. But you CAN control how a game is designed, and you CAN control what you want players to do and how they SHOULD act. The game incentivizes people to sit in mid and brawl. QM is even worse. Everyone wants someone else to do the xp farming and wants someone else to get the obj and get camps.

This could be easily fixed if the developers implemented changes that people have been asking for for years, but they choose not to. They do however ensure that a new character or skin is pumped out every few weeks so they can get their money. We were promised a new matchmaking fix in the AMA earlier in the year. Now were being promised again. Have we seen anything? Nope. I bet when they release everything they have planned it is all at one time though. They’ll brand it HOTS 3.0 with a couple new characters so they can maximize their dollars, because who actually cares about the people currently playing right? The people being banned for cussing at their teammates are the people that actually care. I would rather play with people that actually care about the game than inept trolls out to ruin games for everyone else.

Cussing is good. When will you people learn that? Why are you all so willing to throw in your freedom of speech card? You really think eating soap is healthy for you?

Ban aside, these issues were just brought up at Blizzcon. In fact, I think the new QM rules(at least 1 warr, supp, range assn) go in with the Orphea patch or the one after.

What about those who don’t use cuss words and still get banned for abusive chat? EVERYTHNG you say can be used against you. Giving advice/patronizing is bannable offense, nay I have an appel denial where GM told me that he doesn’t find my chat toxic but my teammates reported me, and they decide what is toxic and what isn’t so my silence penalty is upheld. You ping an imprtant thing more than once? How dare you bother the potatoes during mid brawling? Reported for spam. btw spam report is for chat spam, not for ping spam, but using this feature with zero clue still counts as a report even when you said only “gl hf” or a ban suggestion during draft.

If you play very often and use the chat, it doesn’t matter what you say to these terrible players. They play to troll and ban everyone who doesn’t like the way they have “fun”. I’m looking forward to report abuse ban, but it seems Blizzard is fine with putting decent players away by trolls and lowering the average player skill level to silver1. The less the players understand the less they complain about flaws. less complaint -> less to fix -> less to pay for developers -> more profit

you’re right; it doesn’t matter what people say, or do, to terrible players. That’s why they’re terrible players.

People that post out against the ‘terrible players’ seem to look halfway through what they say and don’t think through the rest of the response: terrible players don’t improve by pinging, chat, or anything else – there is no ‘forced’ reaction because that aspect is pointless.

While other games might not ‘punish’ people for lashing out, how many game experiences do you, or any person have, in that any sort of feedback, critical, cuss, friendly, pedantic, or whatever as really done any ‘good’ for a ‘terrible player’?

However, what is evident is that you then

which seems to suggest that you are the sort of toxic issue at hand, so your sense of ‘justice’ is on “terrible players” particularly, but not on conduct, not on teamplay, and a myriad of other things.

Your drawn conclusion is to ‘abuse’ the system by becoming toxic, which, ya know, seems to overlook the issue manifest is that the system is intended to root out toxicity, so by then being toxic to ‘abuse’ the system, you’re reinforcing why its there.

Did you not notice that blizz doubled-down on this system before? For the concerns on reports and false positives, that would suggest that things are working better than not, so the fixation on methods that not only don’t work, but then reinforce the problematic systems in place by providing more potential to look like it is working is counter-intuitive to your concerns.

For someone so keen on the ‘less players understand’ bit, you’re sure keen to revel in what you don’t want to understand :stuck_out_tongue:

Its really funny when people play an online team game with random players and then get mad when players are doing bad things… You expect to get constantly 4 different random teammates that you like? Does the world turn around you?
Does every player act the same way every match?

Obviously if you have troubles with random teammates then you either get yourself some friends or don’t play a team game.
I haven’t played this game solo for a while now because my friends-list is huge enough…

Orphea just continues to put more fuel on the frustration of constant AoE xxx. HotS is nothing but wombo combo by design this past year.

AoE damage on top of AoE slow on top of AoE root on top of AoE silence with AoE knockback and mapwide ultimates.

It just becomes less fun with every adjustment :frowning:

Trying to find a post where Xent isn’t projecting his entire mentality onto people.

Nothing to see here folks

Makes me wonder, is this even a game company anymore?

Yes, if the service cannot provide 4 decent team mates the game mode should be removed. Encourage players to find partners manually. Why keep something in the game(auto match making) if it doesn’t work?

System is working as intended. Ruining the playerbase. Diminishing communication opportunities. Dwindling the population size. Removing competitive players, and so on.

@contemno, your logic is a sight for sore eyes. Why the entire fanbase that remains for this game continues to dismiss yours and many others wisdom when it comes to games is just beyond me. The fanbois want the casino. The gamers want an arena.

Most of the time the system works. Players are not robots that perform exactly the same every match, how can the system predict this variety? So of course there will be unpleasant matches too.
Why do you need more encourage to find partners? Can’t you think for yourself or does blizzard need to tell you to find some friends to play with?^^

Why are you so defensive of Blizzard? We’ve asked for clan support. The only thing that exists is the LFP button or general chat. Many whispers are blocked now because of a certain setting where people can’t even discuss after the match because of blocks. People can send invites, but they’re so scared of getting insulted that they can’t even accept. They even announced including party finding tools and those announcements never materialized.

How do you explain two teams that each have a 58% winrate account paired with 4 players each that are sub 48% winrate where one side has massive amounts of wave clear and camp taking ability while the other team has zero camp taking ability (except when sacrificing lane coverage) and very low wave clear? Why are two 58% winrate players paired with 4 players each that are sub 48 and even 44% winrate which obviously perform like they belong to lower leagues?

Blizzard had team names which encouraged team formation and teamwork, and they removed it. Blizzard added unique heroes to start which required teamwork like Abathur and Cho’gall and wombo combos. Now all heroes have 1v5 skills where they have immense self-sustain or mobility (and in some cases invulnerability). That or they have ults like Mephisto or Mal’ganis which are strictly 1 player vs the world.

You mean billable content.

Basically they are saying this game is not worth fixing to them, or they do not know how to fix it, but they will keep releasing anything that gets into your wallet.

Thats pretty much the reason my guess is for the insane power creep lately. They aren’t trying anymore. Just bleeding what they can out of this game.

Old Blizzard would not operate like that because they valued their place in the community. Acti-Blizz does not care. Activision is cashing in on Blizzards reputation hard for a quick dollar.

Yep, totally get it. They got me good with Orphea heroic bundle.
