HotS Is becoming Dota Clone

Not really. Dota 2 and LoL have big macro play and split push stategy is more important. IN DOTA you can have many strategy like split push or 4 protect 1, rat Dota(damaging the towers and avoiding team fights), deathball, two mid laners, there are comps to spread a team out and stall lanes while maximizing resources(simular to desth ball but slower),there are comps that force Early fights with combo wombo, ganging comps…

IN Hots blizzard are trying to force only 5 v5 team fights deathball meta

What Dota !?
I saw this word on forums often, don’t get what mean.

Defense of the Ancients, it was the map in Warcraft 3 that spawned the moba genre.

Valve made a MOBA game and called it DotA as well.

I honestly have no idea what people are complaining about and it seems like they don’t either, people just be typing up thoughts and justifications for them independent of what actually might be true about the game

If you think Blizzard wants to at all remove splitpushing then you are wrong kthx /thread

I definitely agree with you that HotS is becoming more like other MOBAs in some ways. However, It was always more Team Fight oriented which is exactly what drew me into this game (I love PVP) and why other MOBAs failed to.

I truly think HotS was in it’s Golden Era immediately after they removed the ridiculous artifact system (alpha) all the way up until months after launching. After that, the game started to become less fun. Suddenly you couldn’t build teams that synergized in epic ways (ie: Illidan & Kerrigan with executioner pairing well with Jaina). Heroes that had really awesome/unique builds became devalued and more cookie cutter as they removed the mechanics or straight nerfed them (RIP Nova & Kerrigan). Everything now feels so sterile and you’re forced to play these supposedly “competitive” builds that never work because your team mates typically don’t allow you to use it at a “competitive” level (Calamity Ming >.>). I do miss towers having ammo because you had more ways to contribute to pushing a lane (ie: Nova’s decoy, Malf’s Treant, and minions draining ammo). I think it would have made more sense to allow more ways of refilling ammo than simply giving it unlimited ammo (ie: killing minions or capturing objectives reloads some ammo).

Another thing, the game mechanics made a hell of a lot more sense back then. You didn’t have to spend hours on Heroes Wiki trying to figure out what works on what or why you can’t do this with an ability as much as you have to now. There are also too many exceptions/restrictions on what you can do (ie: speed bonus affects allies but not you, only certain abilities/talents work on minions or only minions, etc).

Sorry, this kind of ended up as more of a rant. There was a lot mentioned in this thread that brought all of this to the surface and I just figured I might as well say it lol.

Does feel like this; they want their pro games to be more showy with constant team fights maybe.

And/or they’re sticking with their hyper-casual design philosophy trying to further simplify how the game is played because the average HotS player can’t even grasp the existing basics of the game.

So it’s warcraft 3 :grinning:

The one specifically being referred to here is the Valve game DOTA 2.

So the dota1 was warcraft 3 :grinning:

Perhaps this is one “strategy” but it is by no means a core tenent of how the game should be played.

o.O

Blizz use to try and create unique and innovative heroes like Abathur, Cho Gall, Murky, The Lost Vikings, Dva, Medivh, etc, but lately they’ve been making only simple and normal heroes you’d see in dota2 or LoL.

Because most players want to play the Hero who wins the game, usually through brute force. You can confirm this by looking at the play rates of Hero Roles statistics. It’s especially skewed at the very top of ladder play where very nearly all GM players play exclusively Assassins. Rare are the players who want to take up a supportive role, whether that is as Tank, Healers, or some sort of Specialist who does any number of varied and different tasks.

Blizzard isn’t focusing on mostly assassins because it’s a design philosophy, rather it’s just that’s the type of Hero most players want to play.

Additionally, Specialists are simply being reclassified, not redesigned, and thus will probably alter the perception of those Heroes in the minds of players such that they are not given the stigma of a less than optimal Hero for those players who are motivated to BE the Hero Player of the match.

Nobody knows how the game should be played.

97% of the playerbase thinks the game is playing matches forever and crying about it.

You WISH this game was a DOTA clone… then at least it would have an actual playerbase

Let’s just hope next time on warcraft reforge they not going to use it to create new dota

That’s basically what I just said.

Oh you better believe that they are looking to capitalize on fans of DotA Allstars. That’s why they said it over and over again at Blizzcon that Custom Maps will most likely work right out of the box or with some minor tweaking. I think this is a Win Win proposition. I don’t think this will affect HotS or any of the other MOBAs out there but it will certainly be a boon for the fans of the game who are interested in playing a game that they truly enjoy. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Oh i believe on the original idea.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Enjoy playing Hots :grinning:

All mortals are clones.

Last time I played Dota 2, a spanish guys, on voice chat, was really angry at me for not having bought an item.
