Heroes of the storm heroes per race

I’ve read a lot of people complaining there were too much orcs in this game, or too much elves, etc. and they wanted more variety. The funny part is most of them asked for other humans like Diablo 2 druid or Reinhardt. Don’t you think there’s enough humans in this game ? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Humans : 31
Elves : 7
Protoss : 6
Orcs : 6
Demons : 5
Zergs : 5
Undeads : 5
Angels : 4
Dwarves : 2
Dragons : 2
Pandarians : 2
Ogre : 2
Troll : 1
Murlock : 1
Fairie Dragon : 1
Worgen : 1
Dryad : 1
Dranei : 1
Goblin : 1
Elemental : 1
Tauren : 1

Total : 86

Stukov is considered a zerg, could be human.
Arthas is considered an undead, could be human.
Sylvanas is considered an elf, could be undead.
Rexxar is considered an orc, could be an ogre.
Probius is considered a protoss.

This is not correct?

Only Overwatch heroes and The Lost Vikings are technically human as we know it as they originate from Earth.

Warcraft “humans” are not from Earth and so not related to humans and technically not human despite calling themselves human. Counting them as human would be like counting elves as human, or dragons in human form as humans.

Terrans technically the descendants of humans but not human in the sense that we know it. Combinations of selective programs (project purification on Earth) and isolation (separate population pools) will have resulted in significant genetic change. Hence the psionic capabilities and such.

The Nephilim and “humans” from sanctuary are not human because they are descended from angels and demons and did not evolve from Earth. Similar to those from Warcraft they might look, act and sound like humans but are technically a separate species from actual humans.

Undead technically are not a race as they are not capable of reproduction. No one is born undead, only turned undead. They are the same race as they were when alive.

Stiches is technically a magical construct and so cannot really be given a race. Made from body parts and animated by magic to do his master’s bidding. No different than a defensive obelisk or magical golem. Even if he was given a soul, it would technically be made from souls belonging to other races, which fits what I mentioned above that races are turned undead and undead is not a race itself.

As far as I am aware Worgen is not a race, rather an ailment which befalls Warcraft Humans. Hence Greymane is a Warcraft Human.

Heroes of the Storm has no Centaur hero…

Lunara is a Dryad. Dryads are half related to Centaurs but different enough that they could be considered another race, especially considering the magical/divine nature of their creation.

Warcraft demons cannot be counted the same as Diablo demons. Warcraft demons are technically members of their own races, while Diablo demons are technically all creations of evil and can be associated with particular types of evil.

Technically he is a Terran, Zerg and Protoss all at the same time as he was not infested but rather modified by Duran/Narud using the same processes used to create the Zerg and Protoss hybrid bodies for Amon. He is only classed as Zerg by association because he currently serves as a Zerg commander.

Because he has a Protoss soul. Similar to how Talandar is also considered a Protoss. The Protoss as a race have evolved beyond such trivial things such as genetics.

Undeath is not a race, it’s a skin condition.

They’re all called human in their respective franchises, they’re human.

Probes are not purifiers. Probius is a robot with a simple AI designed for drudge work.

Except in StarCraft II they are called “Terrans” and in Diablo many of them are called “Nephalem”.

Not according to official lore. When being brought into the Nexus he also received a soul/personality. Hence why he is not an it.

Primal Zerg is a separate race from Zerg. Dehaka is a Primal Zerg.

The Zerg (Swarm) was artificially created from Primal Zerg by Amon. Primal Zerg are a population of individuals which are structured in a hierarchy based on strength and means of survival. Primal Zerg populations are genetically diverse based on the “essence” the individuals collect. The Zerg Swarm is a single entity where all members of it serve a higher power (Amon, but now queen/commander) and all members of it are genetically identical, ever changing and mostly un-thinking.

Where as an Ultralisk follows Kerrigan because she is Queen and they have no choice. Dehaka and his packs follows her because she is a good leader which brings him a high chance of survival and much essence.

It’s a bit unfair to compare races in a void without considering their franchises. The humans between the different games are vastly different in characters and styles, and congregating them together is incredibly simplistic in view. One orc character is not equivalent to one protoss, or one zerg. You need to consider all the circumstances that surround a race, rather than just the fact they are one race, and universe is a fairly important part of that equation.

Just upvote this and be done with it

Blizz has done a MARVELOUS job at keeping nice balance/representation of things within the game, perhaps not in the order in which would’ve liked it to happen (ermm 5 WoW assassins in a row ), but at the end they still did decent I’d say

My post was more of a funny way to point people saying ‘‘No moar orcs’’ than anything.

You guys take this too seriously. :joy:

OP has point. There are people among us saying “this game got enough Orcs” but then asks for an Elf or Human Hero. These people are either Orchophobic or got issues with brain cells.

I am going to have to argue with you on this one. human does not mean earthling. If we migrate to mars and then have a child on mars, they will still be human, but not from earth. They will be a Martian. Humans can be from all types of planets, realms and universes, they are still human.
