From PTR notes:

Players who have completed their placement games may no longer play Storm League in a party with players who have not completed their placement games.

If this goes live, then this upcoming SL season will be the first one that doesn’t begin with people throwing games to get to Bronze 5, then grouping with an unranked account to boost it.

You can still throw games and get silver , que with plat and help them climb

Yeah, but that takes a lot longer. Starting in B5 and stomping through placements is a big slingshot for boosting. Security (and anti-cheat) is the process of making things more difficult.
