Unranked is a forsaken mode. Few people play it because they are already used with the straightfowardness of quick game. Maybe placing some changes, like players bellow level 50 can play only quick match and players above would be allowed or incentivized (maybe with experience or gold buffs), allowing for a more experienced and strategic feel to the unranked mode. This could bring more players and prestige to this mode, since it is a mode that requires a bit more skill and knowing how to draft and ban.

Nah, unranked is where high rank players can play with their low rank friends in draft mode. Remember most players are not friendly. People even complained about my smurfing account level when I tried unranked.
I wouldn’t attribute it’s unpopularity to that.
People who want to draft will hang out in ranked, not unranked. Unranked is sort of redundant. That seems to be the most popular sentiment I’ve seen at least
