Does ban durations reset after a time?

Last time i got banned was in 2018 and it was for a month long.

If that was to happen again, would I be banned for longer than a month?

Or is there a duration where this resets ?

And at which point does it lead to account closure?

I don’t think they decay at all. There were a few forum topics here of returning players who had a suspension years ago which turned into a permanent ban after coming back in 2020 and receiving some reports.

Though you do have the option of appealing to the customer support team, it depends on luck whether anyone will bother to review your case or close it with a canned reply.

The first suspension is a week, it escalates to a month, after that permanent ban.

Prior to this there was a silence system that doubled in duration each time, this has been removed and now they just hand out flat 7/14 day silences. Silenced players are very rare to encounter these days.

you are royally screwed if you have an old account that used to have the second highest penalty (1 month suspension)

now even if you disable chat, you can get reported for other categories and your account will be gone until the end of the universe if you get third strike, since they never reset even after years of break

i would just keep that as a museum account, accept the loss and create a new one
only use it to play in custom tournaments or in custom lobbies with trusted friends

I do lol, i already have 2 more accounts at lvl 400 and 300 but the old account is at lvl 1600 and has every hero and almost every skin in the game… Would be a shame to lose it because I can still lose my temper sometimes. Thanks for the advice.

Nope it never resets, it goes 1 month, i think 2 months after that then forever banned. Its a static number that never resets and the cases are never even reviewed.

Nope.

Just the penalties are harsher.
Now it doesnt double till infinity… you get several bans and then a permanent one

Have they changed it? Cus I got 2 weeks with the warning of a perma ban next time

Proably should have appealed that second one cus I’m pretty sure the only reason it happened is cus I was flagged in the system (Happened on the same day as I got back and the reports were obviously false if you read the text in game)

Could have changed then. Your info is more recent if you got it lately. Might have downgraded the most severe penalty before permanent ban to 14 days.

If it ever gets to that point, probably just leave it as a memory of your first years in hots and stop playing the acc…

I know, I mean I’m on Hiatus from the game itself (only on the forusm cus i love you guys) and I’m sure if and when I return I’ll be more chill I can withstand getting that third strike butttttt…

I really don’t want to force myself to level a new account, I played my second account during that 2 week ban and I swear Zeratul’s who are obviously smurfing are in every second game of QM for sub 100 players
Even when he’s not on the f2p roster

Isn’t there 2 and 3 month ban as well ? I found some post where people were saying there is longer ban after 1 month then perma.

Punishment does not reset no matter how long it is since you got punished last time. There are no forgiveness on your account so if you next punishment does indeed mean account closure then its better just to leave that account and make a new.

I don’t know, but all you really need to know that you get 1 silence, one suspension and the third is a ban. This is too punitive in my opinion, but it’s the system.

I am playing since beta and yes I had silence and ban before. Some of them happened before 2.0 some of them after, my behavior is way different however I don’t know if I should continue playing, even tho I don’t use chat anymore at all I am afraid of random reports because of salt

Well as long you got chat closed and you dont spam ping or /w players you cant get reported.

Also stay away from general chat.

I didn’t use general single time since 2015. That’s the reason why I am trying to find what the last suspension before perma.

Also how can I disable chat ?

You disable chat under “Options/Social” remove the tick from “enable team chat.”

As for your other question, it’s harder to answer as I’m not sure if actions taken on your account apply, before they introduced the new “3 strikes and banned” system.

I would guess it’s 14 days suspension before a ban as that’s what a poster above said who once worked for Blizz in QA.

Go into options ingame and click on social tap. Then up front you will see an option called Enable team chat. Turn that one off. Then you wont be able to see what others write.

Thanks. About that duration, I had 30 days suspension which ended almost 3 months ago. I have been playing since without problems, ignoring any in game interaction. However if this is last warning then I am gone probably. I have seen some ppl saying about moth and 2 months suspensions before perma.
