Hanamura is one of those maps that most people don’t like it and I get why. Would you like if by any reason, see the boss at mid back? I loved the fights at there which were really fun to do.
I don’t remember liking anything about the old Hanamura map. I’m pretty okay with the one we have now.
I’d be okay with the boss in the middle. Heh, it goes down the elevator and then the objective comes up. I don’t know that it’s a good idea, but I’m willing to try it out.
I liked the old version more because you could place the turrets in the load. The current Hanamura is oversimplified trash with a samurai golem that deals more damage than a boss
Do you miss the old Hanamura Boss at mid?
No, it was useless. You could only take it if you wiped the enemy team. And if you did, you were better off just destroying their fort than invest time in a boss and hope it destroyed it while the respawned enemy defends.
I don’t think that’s a good enough tradeoff to make up for the fact that your objective could just not show up while the enemy had theirs.
Fair. I do not like the oversimplified map either but it had potential if it was changed.
Nah i prefer current iteration better. I didn’t like how core was invulnerable with 7 HP and the only way to hurt it was to win boss or objective.
Didnt multiple payloads spawn at once and each cart was assigned to just one team only?
If we are going to talk about missing stuff, i miss old garden terror.
Nope. The old hanamura was really clunky. The only upside was the a.i wasn’t as camp obsessed as they are now.
Hanamura still my least favorite map in game, both old and new versions.
I think it could still be re-worked. Number one, I think it could be bigger map with 3 lanes and a couple sets of camps.
Nope, same with hunted mines before and today.
Current Hanamura is my second least favorite map. Its just not a dynamic map. It plays out the same almost every time.
The objective is very slow and there’s little you can do to stop it or prepare for it beyond fighting the other team. The terrain is also very flat. Which in of its self isn’t to big an issue but it does compound all the maps other issues.
All of the maps points of interest are either to far out of the way or are difficult to read. Everyone pretty much knows that the samurai camp is the post important thing on the map and while it is important. Its very out of the way. To the point that fights just dont happen there very often. The turret camps are both far out of the way and no one cares about them. I’ve gone entire games where both teams ignore this camp completely. The vision camps are just as powerful as the samurai camps but are frequently disrespected. In most games you cap it once early and then only take them back when you just happen to be there despite vision being super powerful and they give a ridiculous amount of EXP. The objective, while being ok fun wise, is often not worth the 2 team fights you have to win before you can cap it because it moves so slow.
The map desperately needs more things that make sense to fight over. The old boss did that and it was great.
Overall its not enough for me to dislike the map but I dont find it very exciting to play on.
I’m softer on Hanamura than most people, but I’d still only put it as middle of the road for me. I don’t find it actively annoying like the maps I actually dislike (Braxis, BHB, and Garden of Terror), but like Waterlong said it’s very samey.
I don’t think the boss would fix the problem, though. One, they’d have to rework what the boss actually even does since it was just a core shot on the old version and god knows the map doesn’t need yet another big pushing merc. The map is already all about managing merc timing on two camps, so I don’t see what a third fixes.
If anything, I’d like it if they made Sentinels only start spawning well after the first object started, and maybe make the object start a bit sooner to compensate. That way there’s actually an incentive to funnel players towards the first objective.
Yeah, the fact it could eat you means doing it without first wiping the enemy team was generally stupid. I’m happy with the two large samurai sentinels instead.
Yea that was nice to silence players with the Plant.
