Or you like to change talents depending of the map and ennemy comp?
Depends more on composition or what strategy I am trying to accomplish by picking said hero than what map I am playing on.
Also to be fair, a lot of heroes donāt have much wiggle room when it comes to builds anyway, so thereās that.
Depends on who Iām playing and what I want to accomplish. Some heroes donāt really have different viable build paths. Some do.
I often stick to my most trusted builds but will break from it if I see more value based on the map/enemy composition. I rarely use a build I have little experience with. Iāll mostly change up the build Iām most comfortable with given a good opportunity where I feel I wont be risking the game.
On mechanical heroes usually just keep the same build if you have the combos and timings down.
Macro, support, healer though comp dependent. Then thereās those hard counter talents like shattering throw that depend on enemy comp
Also if I see something on HGC will try it out in an unranked
Depends on the hero, some heroes have clear always choose talents, depends on the map and what my opponents are doing. Some heroes have talents you take depending on team comp. Example Artanis on BOE, Amature Oppoentnt, Artanis on BHB, Seasoned Marksman or Amature Opponent
Most of the time I rush the same build
it just works
Depends on the character Iām playing. If itās a character I know very well and am comfortable with Iāll mix things up depending on my mood and the compositions. If itās someone Im learning or that I havenāt played in a while Iāll stick to a tried and true build
I donāt see why you WOULDNāT try to adapt your build to the enemy team. Not all heroes have super flexible builds, but almost every hero has at least some opportunity to flex onto different talents.
Really depends on the comps, hero and talents.
If I can get away with it, I will go a favoured build. But Iām definitely not going to go a build thatās countered pretty hard. As I said though, for other heroes I will change completely depending on map or compā¦or faith in the team.
I have some fav builds, but I always adept to the current situation Iām in and Iām a bit annoyed when others donāt. There are games lost on talent picks.
it really depends on the hero. there are some that i feel like for the most part are ānearlyā pick one set of talents and thats it. other heroes have a 2-3 builds and the talents can be worked around depending on what enemies you face or the situation in certain places.
i base my build on different factors, but staying with the same build no matter what is not something i like. im not a fan of cookie cutter builds where someone always goes the same build no matter what.
some build will come more often than others sure, but i always try to keep in mind, " is this one those case i have to pick those are talents " .
here are a few things i keep in mind before picking a build,
- our comp
- enemy comp
- how much would my talent synergize with the teamās
- is that build easily countered by the enemy
- how likely am i going to finish my quest if i have one, and how much difference will it make
- how fast im likely to finish it.
- is there other talents that may perform better ?
i always look at every talents what they can bring vs an other one and rarely for me will one always win over an other, ( at the exception of medivhās portal mastery at level 1, the manual portals are just way too good vs the other 2 for me )
i actually made a tassadar guide a while ago, and i kinda explain my thinking process for each talents and usage , i also show an approximate guess of how much i pick each talent. youāre more than welcome to have a look
The biggest reason is whether youāre actually able to utilize a given talent. It can be better to take the 50% talent you can use 100% effectively than to take the 100% talent that you can only use 25% effectively.
Depends on the hero.
Some heroes only have one major build that I like with alterations here and there for the map and comp. Sgt. Hammer and Zarya being two examples off the top of my head.
Other heroes like Abathur and Li Ming have very varied builds that I like to switch up depending on all sorts of variables.
It all varies.
Depends on the hero, but generally no. A lot of heroes have only one good build, such as Gulādanāwhose talent tiers with variance are extremely niche alternative picks.
While I almost never pick alternative builds on Cassia, itās the same concept: One build is simply better in 90% of situations than all others, and those rare 10% cases are a matter of confidence in the switch, since the aforementioned flagship build will still be good/viable.
The lack of effective talent build variance is why ranked is so infuriating. Over and over you will see people with nonsensical or bad talent paths in matches against the heroes/maps youāre playing.
If youāre not even considering more than one talent on each tier, youāre doing it wrong.
That isnāt to say you donāt have a favorite and the comp is generalized, but if youāre not thinking about what could do better then youāre not improving.
I tried to think of at least one talent choice on one character that I would never consider not taking or where I think the other options are completely unviable but the closest I can think of is the level 1 talents for DVa in that anything other than Rush-down is a bad choice; Hit the nitrous isnāt terrible but Rush-down basically does everything it does but better.
Usually depends on the comps/map. I do try to use other builds but most of the time, I end up using one build that works really well for me.
Only on heroes like valeera really.
