Can't play the gaame

I bought 5 bucks worth of gems, and now I can’t even play the game. I’m able to load in, but everything is “temporarily offline”. I can’t swap characters, view heroes, view cosmetics, or even buy more gems haha. I’ve reinstalled the game and repaired the files, but that’s the extent of what I’ve done.

Hi Noe,

I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble. This issue you are having does happen to players, myself included, but unfortunately, there isn’t a set one fix for it. What works for one doesn’t work for another. For myself, I had to leave the game open for about 30 minutes for the background data to finishing downloading.

Here are a some other steps you can try:

Delete Battle.Net Cache Folder

Disabling Security Applications

Same problem here, is not asosiated to the computer because it happened to me with only 1 of my accounts but no with the others ones so this is a problem of the blizz servers.

It can be fixed also if you “play” a game in the “test this hero”” function for 3-5 min (you can ind it inside the hero pool of your own profile)

Is also happening with my account. It seems relayed with I cannot select any Hero, so I cannot play any gamemode - #53 by Yryadorne

I started 3 weeks ago. My account is from America South, Brazil. I am playing with my account (currently I am located in Italy), but using USA servers to play with brazilian friends with a good latency.

Everytime that I want to play, I can not select any heroe or game mod and I can see “invalid heroe”. To male the game availabla again, I execute a custom match with just AI, wait the match begin (or will not work), then wait 30-60 seconds, quit the AI match and now I can select the heroes again, and also chanhe the game mod (match type).

I already tried to repair, reinstall etc. Nothing fix. I always have to do the same custom AI party to fix… 3 weeks doing this… come on…

edit: I am using macbook m3 pro

Thank you FavelaSoup and apterix for your responses! I appreciate you sharing your resolutions to this issue. I really wish there was a specific way to fix it for everyone. Unfortunately, I don’t know of one to date. I know that’s frustrating to hear, especially if you have to start an AI game before you can play a real one.

Another thing that has worked for some players is to delete the Variables.txt file located in Documents\Heroes of the Storm. If you use OneDrive, it can prevent Heroes from accessing or modifying files inside your Documents Folder. In that case, I’d suggest un-syncing OneDrive from that folder to prevent this, then delete the Variable.txt file.

Unsysnc OneDrive

Alrighty here’s an update on the issue. A friend of mine gave me their login information for testing purposes, and I’m able to log in and play the game with 0 issues. Logging back into my account, the issue reappears. I believe the issue is an authentication issue on Blizzard’s end, and I don’t know how I can fix that haha.

I did nothing since my last message and now is working again out-of-the-box. great!
