Her corny shield and endless ability spams with a kit with stuns and infinite blinds.. she’s gotta be the most broken tank in the game in the right hands.
Her shield ought to get a cooldown bust. or remove the movement speed bonus of condemn so that she has to position better.
Geez man some heroes have 0 support wheels AND perform bad.. other heroes gets every support wheel there is AND performs good.

While I won’t say she’s not somewhat overtuned I don’t struggle with johanna players as a tank main. If I see joh I just draft mei and beat her. Mei is one of joh’s toughest match ups to play against because she has everything that joh has access to and a bit more in some areas. Generally mei is also better at peeling, but she’s particularally good at shutting joh’s engages down for a lot of reasons. Often times when joh goes in if she starts to get CCed she’ll just pop her shield and keep pressing until her health gets lower, but mei shuts that down instantly by using blizzard. If joh dives my backline she may be able to get her hands on my li ming, but she’s not getting away for free and if she does she’s certainly not doing it without getting dads belt first. The reason for this is really simple. Most of her damage comes from her autos and qs which mei can reduce via her snow blind talents or her lv 7. When Joh engages on a normal line she can press all the way in with little risk which allows her team to put pressure and pin down their tank while she attacks healer or backline dps. Mei’s blizzard cuts support off from her team which immediately forces her to back off or get fried. Also mei just blatantly beats johanna in most 1v1’s because her aa is ranged unlike joh and since she also has an unstopp and damage reduction along with an insane disposition/stasis ult she can essentially shut down whatever Joh tries so long as you are dogging her nonstop.
Post Edit: Joh is mostly bad at peeling until later levels too and her only strong form of peel tends to be her ult. There are a lot of ways to get around her q, but her w is a bit trickier. From a tank standpoint a lot of the time so long as your team doesn’t walk too far away you can pin her team down and then retreat and catch her on the way back. This might trade tanks, but usually them losing joh is a bigger deal since the team often is based around her.
I only played ranged AA occasionally mage. The amount of HP she has, AND the high shield amount with its low cooldown makes her an annoying nuisance. Can’t target her cuz she doesn’t die and she just speeds away. Her kit is bonkers.
Diablo, I can actively position to prevent a wall bang.
Muradin, I can actively position so that he doesn’t leap and stun me to get his allies to open up.
Same with Anub. Malganis, Varian etc.
Johanna however, it doesn’t even matter if you’re out of position or standing on the best position. You’re always disabled when you engage at openings. She get’s to stand far ahead of her team, overextending.. and gets away with it cuz she doesn’t get damaged.
There’s one hero that breaks shields.. Varian..
Giant killer on all Ranged AA’s should include Varian’s +200% dmg to shields ontop of the HP% damage or something. It’s just disgusting how much she gets away with playing bad, positioning bad..
The point of joh is to be the unbreakable battering ram. Thats the reason she’s designed the way she is. Which is why you don’t try and punish her, you go after her team. Mei is perfectly designed to deal with that because she can easily peck down johannas backline and cut her off from her support. Also johs peel isn’t the strongest comparatively to other tanks only her sustain is and periodically her ult
