Hello, just arrived 2 days ago home and yesterday i installed HotS and i played 2 games. Now i entered in the client and it says that i need a 64-bit OS to play the game, i tried to reinstall the game but now i can not even install it “A 64-bit OS is required to install and play HotS”.

We can’t see any reason why you’d be getting this error from that file, which probably means that there’s something else causing windows itself to think you don’t have the right OS build for the game. Probably it’s a registry problem. Can you try playing from a new admin for us? If that works, it means your registry is broken on the old account. Easiest fix for that is moving your files to the new account and deleting the old one.
If that fails, are there any BIOS updates for your motherboard? If so, try installing those and retest.
Still doesn’t work.
And i’m not sure how to update my bios and how to check if there are new versions.
Edit: I found only updates from 2011, and i already have a version from 2011 installed. And at all, why could i played it 3 days ago and suddenly stopped working…i did nothing except turning off my pc.

That is indeed the question right now. You’re clearly on a 64 bit OS. If it’s not the OS itself, maybe it’s the battle.net application reading the information incorrectly. Let’s try uninstalling that, nuking its data from orbit:
- Press Windows+R to open the “Run” prompt
- Type one of the below locations and press enter:
%programdata%
%temp%
%appdata%
%localappdata% - Delete any folders which say Blizzard, Battle.net, or Blizzard Entertainment
- Repeat steps 2/3 for all 4 locations above
- Grab a new battle.net application installer from our website and run it
And finally reinstalling it from a brand new installer which you can download here. If that fails, let’s double check that there is no left behind data in your old install folder, then reinstall Heroes as well. By default it’ll install in your C:\Program Files (x86) folder. It may just be old data getting in the way.
Followed those steps and still doesn’t work, same error that say i’m not using a 64-bit OS.

Can you please collect a MSINFO and email to to techinfo@blizzard.com with the title: 64-bit OS is required [23164]
If you can also take a screenshot of your full desktop with the Battle.net app and error in full view that would also be helpful. Send both to the email address and we will see what else we can find out.

EDIT 19 july 18:06 : Still no answer, by the way i reinstalled my windows and still doesn’t work, same error

I looked into this further for you, and the error appears to be caused by your Xeon processor. It appears that the Heroes of the Storm installer is not allowing you to reinstall the game because the Xeon is not a supported processor. The app is not allowing the game to install properly because of this.
Something that you can try is installing it on a different computer, then moving the installation folder over to this one. This may work, but you may also run into different issues based on the old processor.
You will need to look into updating to a supported CPU to completely resolve this error.
It wont work, i know it for sure.
