I feel like he needs more alternatives to getting meat other than just minions and heroes. The former is slow and grindy while the latter is risky and requires team.
So why not have him collect meat from enemy mercs and monsters? Makes no sense that he can’t collect meat from them. Have the enemy mercs drop roughly… idk… 3 meat per merc, and the boss merc drop 10 meat. As for capping camps… some of those mercs have a surrender animation when beaten so idk how he can get meat from them.
As for monsters, 1 meat per summon. Give him incentive to kill Zag’s zerg or Azzmo’s demons as he can feed off of them. As for heroic summons, like Naz’ Gargantuan and Jaina’s Elemental, 3 meat, like the mercs.
How about adding another funcionality to Chop Meat. “Minions killed within a second of Hamstring drops 2 meat.” Or perhaps a talent that lets him gain one meat every third basic attack.
TL DR: Butcher needs other means to get meat.

I actually like the idea of him getting meat from mercs, summons and monsters/bosses.

Also make it such that if an enemy Diablo, Stitches or Azmodan dies near Butcher they should drop 10000 meat but a Probius or any hero with a mecha skin that dies doesn’t drop any meat.

He should get 100 meat per shrine guardian monster he kills

I liked what they did when they reworked Diablo. At level 7 they gave him talents which helped him gather souls faster. Players got to choose if they gained souls through AA, firestomps or wall charges.
This is also the same concept as Azmodan; slow at start but easier by level 7.
It’d be cool if Butcher also got a meat stacking talent row. The rest of his kit would need re-tuning of course. With these changes 200 might be too easy a target. Damage per meat / final reward might be too high.
Regardless, to fight off the feast or famine playstyle, i like the idea of meat collection becoming increasingly easier as the game progresses. Meat collection starts off hard but through talents it gets easier making quest completion more guaranteed.

They would have to cap his meat at 200 then if they do.

I like the idea that some heroes just have this huge bullseye target on them for butcher, makes for more interesting drafting than picking him against murkies and vikings, which doesn’t work most of the time for him anyway.

I’m fine with that. I’ve always said I rather they make his quest only 200 meat and not scale more, then buff him better.

This idea is ok, but only under 2 conditions.
- 200 meat cap, no limitless scaling
- Zuljin should lose stacks on death too
I was half-hearted at first, then again, Butcher does need some love. I have my doubts that it will change much though. But if it does, will that be something some people wanted though
. Butcher E is probably one of the easiest CC/skill to chain combo with, longer range and more telegraphed (albeit, for your enemy as well) than Varian’s Taunt. Li Ming goes pew pew.
butcher sound NOT lose meat on dead!!! why??? why punishing and already hard character to play with limited mobility and sustain??? yet i like how he is, he has his own weird personality, but losing stacks of preocious meat is an oudtaded feature that just drag him down, i really like collecting meat from minions, and im fine from heroes, just reduce the meat from heroes to 10 and remove the losing meat on dead penalty!! this is the best way to improving him

I really like this suggestion. To implement it correctly The Butcher would need a rework, but it would make him slightly less linear (in terms of his trait) than he is currently.

Problem about your suggestion is Diablo’s and Butcher’s quest have two different powerspikes.
Diablo getting to ress everytime he has 100 souls is not better then Butcher getting his quest done since all his dmg comes from that quest. And Butcher will only get stronger after he complete it while Diablo wont get stronger when he loss all his stacks.
He basicely lose 2-3k hp everytime he loss all the stacks while Butcher will keep all his stacks after quest is complete and will only become stronger and more difficult to handle as he gain more dmg from kills.

He hit harder with more and more stacks, but I wouldn’t say he will be more difficult to beat as he gains more and more stacks. He is still very immobile, weak to blind and can be easily killed with proper focus.
Can’t see why not.
Well, except that there will now be times when Butcher doesn’t show up because he’s busy getting a merc camp. But I guess players do that anyway.
This could be balanced like mercs giving somewhat the same amount of meat a minion wave gives.
The devs are holding out on butcher changes till cydaea gets added. She has the fish nets and the two of them can run some bait-and-switch
this is not a for-reelz statement

I think he needs to be nerfed tbh. it’s already too easy to stack up that meat.
