So For all the trolls and whiners that complain that blizzard doesn’t listen or care:
Matchmaking new category system and QM rules to make games more balanced.
Combined HL and TL to cut down on quetimes that will probably work not only in major regions but minor regions.
Janitor Leoric and Cloaken the announcer. Yes these are cosmetics but they are long requested cosmetics that a strong segment of the community wanted.
MMR based ranks only and the ELIMINATION OF PROMOTION and DEMOTION games !!!
Now some of these may not work but at least they listened to us, and tried SOMETHING. No this wasn’t a flashy blizzcon but I think for the health of the game it will go a long way. I’m sure all the trolls will pick at this, but thats what trolls do. So when you see “Blizzo doesn’t listen to us” or “Blizzo is just in for the Monies grab” this is a good release that attempts to address important issues in the game.
This is good update. They didn’t over promise or over hype things they couldn’t deliver they addressed key issues. Good on them.
also, the elimination of promo/demo games cuts the effective ranking up/down to 1 less game. which i think is both good and bad but you cant have no promo without no demo. so while you rank up easier… on those losses you fall back easier too instead of getting that 1 grace game to make up for it.
personally i have asked for the QM comp changes many times so im happy they listened. i think mandatory matching of a tank, healer, and assassin + 2 flex is the definite way to go. then as i recall they went further and were thinking even more ahead with ‘you know what… we realize ppl may not like taking and healing.’ so you get rewarded for high demand roles, which i guarantee is going to be healing most times and tanking sometimes.
I’m not sure how many people were asking HL to be merged with TL to reduce queue times. I never saw a request for that here at all. I like most of the proposed changes but I’m not sold on this one.
Remember too, that many of these changes were announced this time last year and were not implemented. So fingers crossed this time round.
They said in the What’s Next panel that since the recent TL change, the ranked population significantly increased overall. So based on that, it seems they’re taking it a step further with the merger.
Basically, it’s the same as preseason with the added option of playing all solo.
And they noticed a lot of people just finish their placements and never return for the season, so they’re gonna make us work for our season rewards while improving the stale rewards.
I hate to be negative but; will it actually work? I mean I will say it all looks good on paper, but I wont celebrate just yet till I see it work in action.
EDIT: Ok, so you can still choose to play solo only queue so I guess it’s not entirely terrible, but still.
The only thing that’s going to make Ranked successful is good matchmaking. If Blizzard can nail good matchmaking, then I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
So will there be like two alternative rankings? One for those that opt to solo-TL and the others that group up in parties? Guess, we’ll see by the time the update is live.
Can’t see how this is going to improve anything. The same old problem remains: ppl put into groups based on evening out mmr differences between the two teams and a lack of personal evaluation instead of team evaluation that slows down or obscures the progress to reach the individual skill level of mmr.
Those weren’t the changes. Now the MMer prioritizes putting a tank and healer on each team, but that doesn’t prevent the 3 spec vs. 3 assassin BS that I regularly see nowadays.
Maybe it will help, but it seems like an awfully roundabout solution, if it is indeed one at all.
Most of the other stuff that affects me looks good though.
