Actually the easy way is to see the numbers of reports in a game. If all the others 4 players reported a player means there is huge probabilities that it has been deserved.
But agree that still can be abuse, but generally the real toxic player will do that in a lot of games. So we can assume that if a player get reported by his all team every 5 games he deserve something.
Also I have been told reporting an enemy will not have any impact. If it is true that is quite sad because it is a good indicator… here I am not speaking of casual reports but the algo can take these in consideration if all the teams mates of the troll already reported him.
7-9 reports in the game means the player is trolling.
It’s more complicated than it looks, there’s just a lot of things to consider, and when you consider these you end finding coming with such system is meaningless, except the “word only” part, profanity checks to auto penalize are easy to check and successful to a huge majority of it, but when it comes to sentences you are just random guessing, very hardly random guessing, it could cause more harm than good to the point it pretty much will fail from first hand.
I’m all for making the game better, but this impossible.
The best way to do is simply having human moderation that are sensible enough to put things into context of the sentence.
Back then silences would continue to double in length indefinitely. Meaning the toxic types would end up having silences that literally lasts years.
Now people can only get silenced twice before they’re just permabanned or some such. So not exactly weird or anything that we see less silenced people.
I think we should ask for a more efficient ticket system.
Heck there is no way to open a ticket option from the game HUD.
Having notorious and documented leavers be punished too slowly is an issue.
There should be a system to accelerate banning such accounts.
I do however think that there should be an equally harsh punishement for anyone missusing this feature.
Using reports as a weapon has been around the corner for too long of a time.
Since the Reporting System will probably never improve, the best solution may be to give us some QoL: you got a leaver on your team that doesn’t even try to reconnect within 5 minutes? Ok, everyone can now leave the match without any penalty and both teams lose/win only 30% of their point (if it’s a ranked match).
Bash the leaver with an even harder punishment than now if they’re doing that more than once in a while (a random internet/hardware fail may happens to anybody).
At last let us spare our time instead of being stucked there with a bot (and stop wasting your already limited resources into improving an AI that no one want in his match in the first place).
In league, if you false report too much your reports stop having priority and don’t have the same efficacy as before, and if you keep false reporting you can even get banned for that.
In hots you can false report a lot and even get a lot of accounts/friends to false report someone a lot and get 1 person banned, like proven before (:
They aren’t insta banned in LOL either… because people get in bad moods, its repeated offences that get you banned. If they banned everyone who behaved badly in a game with a limited player pool there would be nobody to play with.
Report move on, cumulative reports get actioned. Suck it up its one game.
I do think there is the same kind of system of dimishing return in this game.
I have a friend who uses reports very wisely and he got several mails to tell him his reports led in a ban.
I on the other hand never had one despite playing and reporting much more than him but i do not use the function as wisely as he is.
I posted my match history a while ago showing more than 20-30 games in a row with afks, but it got eddited by a mod for some reason, apparently you can’t show your match history here even if you don’t show any names on it.
people claim they’re reporting a lot more than they report.
Reports are handled far differently than people think.
It’s a clarity issue mostly. And I think (as I’ve advocated publicly and in less-public places) HotS reluctance to just open up and be more clear about things has been a large negative.
The fact is most things that the developers speak the truth about things that don’t mesh with the communities perception get mislabeled by the community. But don’t take it from me. Take it from someone on the HotS team (QA) who has talked with designers:
The way reporting is handled based on the small amount of “not insider info, but probably something they would prefer I don’t publicize” likely fits this.
(or believe i’m making it up. Which i guess is fair).
yes, like how i’ve had multiple disconnects when i forget to tether to my phone because my ISP latency is insane… and i end up effectively afk for sometimes near the whole game if my phone and computer decide to not work together.
Or when they decide to stop tethering and won’t reconnect so after a few minutes i effectively am AFK the rest of the game at times.
Even though well over 95% (probably in the 98-99% range) of the time there is no issue.
Do I get a freebie from this because of all my games?
Even though I just effectively afked a whole match?
anecdotally I almost never see them.
Guess what…
Anecdotes online will show more people experience them, but we have to remember negatives stand out in our mind much more than positives.
it would help if their whole team actually reported them.
people don’t report nearly as much as the perception is.
Anyhow, hello everyone on the forum
I’ll probably make a few posts every week, healthier for me to not spend so much time going through all this stuff.
I have played this game for many years and never once had I gotten a email saying someone was banned. yet All the time I get people who just auto run1v5 into team or afk at base.
this game needs a karma system and just fix the matchmaking and MMR around this, toxic players will play with another toxic players, and good guys will play with another good guys
