The launcher “updates” every time I open it. It is really annoying.

It’s been doing the same thing to me for months. Although I’m not sure what exactly it’s updating from the fact that there has been no changes since the first day it started. I wish they could do some real updates like bring back Haunted Mines, or do the events again, or make a new Hero (which they haven’t done in over 2 years).

It’s not updating anything. It’s a bug.

More like over a year at this point. Yes, you can use the heroesswitcher.exe to avoid the patch, but this is a basic bug that should be fixed.
