Understandable, I’ll give you that, but it doesn’t make him less interesting just because he was left behind due to his fate and have other options that was just considered “better” …
Lore wise he’s more than just an old wizard,
a powerful one indeed, and had given of great influence, one of the progenitors of magic and a leader of the Kirin Tor of Dalaran in his lifetime, in which because of leadership, the city’s building foundation became strong, allowing it to flourish and wizards still carries his strong will even to this day.
A young prodigee, he had already written theses at the age of twelve, because of that he was given an award, the youngest one to ever to received one, and left behind some important books that are still considered important by wizard scholars.
Then he quickly rose through the ranks of the magus order and became a leader of the nation. During the Second War, he pledged loyalty to the Alliance of Lordaeron on behalf of Dalaran, in the war against the orcs.
But mostly a great mentor to young Jaina Proudmoore and even took a closer look to Khadgar himself, as without his influence those two probably would’ve never become what they are today, especially Jaina…
Great background isn’t it, wouldn’t you call that interesting? I mean we have characters that have little background and we’re considered minor by some, but they made it to game anyways 
…
Though Is it enough for him to offer something gamechanging to Hots? Yes and a No, depends on the creators themselves if they give him something creative on his gameplay and kit, if given the chance…
So just because he isn’t something unique and can’t offer anything new to Hots Table doesn’t make him less interesting and also a not enough good reason to consider of putting him on the game…
So hopefully that explains why, i kinda wanted him in the game, but not like soon , and one of my favorite minor characters, i know kinda weird isn’t it?
