The reason I originally held last year’s contest:
I invited the devs to join “Heroes of the Storm Community” on Facebook and see my fan-made skin concept arts album there (which consists of HotS’ skin concepts all over the Internet) in the latest AMA. And Andrew Kinabrew replied: “We’re always looking. These are fun ideas! However, need to see a demonstration from the community that a single skin is wanted. 146 concepts is nice but that doesn’t narrow anything down to a single community favorite. Please rally behind a concept so that we have a better gauge of what the community likes.” (He is a really talented 3D artist. He made Dark Nexus Deathwing, Cuddle Bear Stiches, Alexstraza’s Dragon Form and most importantly JANITOR LEORIC! (and many more awesome work)).
The reason I continue to hold this year’s contest:

So maybe we can help them find a highly-requested fan-made skin to make for 2021.
So the reason of the contest IS NOT to choose the top 1 concept and then tell the devs that they have to make it! The “contest” is a chance for the community to “rally behind a concept” so that the devs “have a better gauge of what the community likes.” And different people like different things, and this community can’t be a community without all the “different people” and their opinions. So the result is not just the most voted concept from the Final Round, but the result ‘is’ the results from all 3 rounds. And please don’t tell the devs that they have to make the most voted concept, but tell them that they should make whatever concept they like and we’ll be happy with it.

A (kinda farewell) message from me:
Hi guys! I hope you enjoyed the contest as much as I did! I really wanted this contest to be an annual Community Event. However, I’m very sad to announce that I can’t run the contest next year. It’s not like I’m quitting or hating the game or anything, life just hit me hard. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer months before I announced this 2nd contest. At first, I didn’t want to hold this contest, however, after some time, as you can see, I still decided to hold it as I promised to hold the 2nd contest again this year. Now that the contest is over, I will probably be much less active on Reddit and the game’s Official Forums (I may still create some posts and comments from time to time though) to spend more time taking care of my family. The reason I decided to not hold the contest next year is that holding the contest is surprisingly time-consuming and it’s really hard to find fan-made skin concepts on the Internet! I really hope that my efforts pay off!
As I knew I can’t hold the contest next year, I intentionally made my Submission Round into a gallery of skin concepts, so that if anyone wants to continue holding the contest next year, they would have a much easier time than I did (as they wouldn’t have to spend much time finding new concepts). Give me a sexy Anduin skin! I even made up some concepts for him: muscular Lifeguard Anduin for Sun’s out Guns out 2 Event, his D effect would be a life buoy instead of a wing, his other abilities have watery effects; Poseidon (Merman) Anduin for Greek Gods 2 Event or Vampire Anduin for Halloween Event.
I also thought of a combination of both concepts, this Event’s theme would be about Gods that try to live a human life : Lifeguard Anduin is secretly Poseidon (that’s why he can use magic). His abilities will have watery effects instead of light effects. His D (Leap of Faith) effect is now a ring buoy with rope (instead of wings) around its target, and the animation is Anduin trying to pull the ring buoy to him (with the rope). And the secret that he’s (Poseidon) a merman reveals when he uses Hearthstone (his tail appears and he creates a magical water puddle on the ground and then dive into it). The shalamayne turns into a magical trident with this skin. And maybe he will also show his tail when you press “Ready”. And it has a custom mount, he (in his merman form) rides a wave of water (like the surfboard mount but without the surfboard) and holds the trident in his hand. Or maybe it can be like some skins in LoL that can transform between 2 forms (Lifeguard form and Poseidon form). Then his Poseidon form can have an epic-looking armor. As this skin would require even more work than a normal “Legendary” skin (because it has 2 forms), it can be the first “Mythic” skin that costs more than “Legendary” skin.
I really wonder if there is a secret rule in HotS dev team that they can’t make sexy, handsome male skins. Oscar Vega, who was an artist for HotS, created a lot of great skin concepts and drew a lot of great artwork for HotS. However, none of his work was “sexy” even though I believe he’s into more revealing stuffs as some of his other artworks that he does in his free time are hot males or females and he often shares more revealing artworks from other artists on his Twitter.
And now that he’s an artist for LoL, he created 3 great skin concepts: Cosmic Lux (and Dark Cosmic Lux), Spirit Blossom Ahri and Spirit Blossom Thresh.
