Worst feeling meta in years

I can’t exactly pinpoint what’s doing it right now but this is by far the least fun I’ve had in HS in years.

Hit legand last month with herald shaman which, yeah, ez, but some really fun games againts imbue druids you know you’re supposed to lose to but good play gave you the edge.

In this meta, I think the inevtiability of everything is just exhausting, like so many games seem to be decided on a “bad matchup? you lose.” coinflip, or whether or not someone highrolled their opener.

Priest, while not inherently op, seems to have taken over control warrior as the “ugh, i leave” matchup with clear clear clear clear and 34 damage once their combo is done. Rogue just always feel bad to lose to some scam bs, face hunter is rng fiesta. Herald shaman is still broken, no minion dh is completely broken, and every herald deck effectively feels the same to play against and deathwing wipes up.

I dunno, after a few months of legend recently I think there is where i hang up the boots for a while, this game just isn’t fun at the moment for me. Am I alone in this?

I am feeling the same. Everytime I play I lately I find myself coming to the forum just to see if others are feeling the same way. Unhappy is the general vibe here since the expac came out. Even after the Nerfs. It’s just frustrating to constantly having my ars handed to me no matter which deck I play. I’m not playing some randomly made decks either. I am tired of getting crap draws while all my opponent seems to be getting is the perfect draws and randoms/discovers. I think it’s time to quit for a while because no nerfing can fix the issue I and others have been having.

Oh yeah I agree, this game is in a terrible place, that I keep hoping they will fix. People say hearthstone feels like hearthstone again, but I don’t feel that way at all. There are no longer fun strategies that come out of nowhere, you have to play the cards that work together as a package. Basically you see a class, you are 99% certain you know what they are running. They need to make less packages and more individual cards with interesting mechanics.

It’s been like this since Team 5 took the hang and tasted the money for Blizzard…Even after those developers at Blizzard came out of the closet and said that they were pushed to get revenue or people will get fired and it will be on their heads, I still have 0 sympathy for people who accept bullying and either run ( because someone will take their spot, there is always someone there that will agree to do whatever to please the corporation) or start crying that corporations are bad…

If you sit there and do nothing but cry on a stream it’s just silly.

Well anyway, the overall status of Blizzard is because, team leaders and developers are being bullied into bringing the money or else they get canned. From my feeble point of view, I wouldn’t give them the chance to prove themselves, I would just fire them up front ( mostly because of what I said above, they just don’t deserve to say that they bring joy into the lives of people, when all they do is making a slot machine that brings the corporation money).

This is modern Blizzard, the downfall of once the pioneers of the greatest games and mechanics every to be created, now trying to stay above the p.ss line just to not get canned…At this point getting fired would be better than smirking your C.V with Blizzards name.

Making money is always the goal. Which is fine. But it’s corporations that caused it to be their number 1 priority. It use to be create a good fun game and the money would be made. Now it’s create a game and implement ways to keep the money flowing.

Even if the devs stood their ground they would just end up unemployable as making a continuous cash flow is a standard now.

Yeah sadly the team is prioritizing ways to profit over player retention/ player’s enjoyment of the game.

I totally get your sentiment, its kinda funky, I can’t even pinpoint what bugs me about the state of the game, I just don’t feel it. I really wanted this set to be the turnaround, but I get frustrated so quickly when playing now and it has not been this bad for years, even when the meta was worse. Even though I admit, objectively, they have couse-corrected.

Its too random. Bg is fun because its random, wild is fun because its broken, but standard construction format being this hard to “play around” is really exhausting. After every discovery the opponent makes (over 10 per game) one or all of those are attacks or defences that can never be foreseen

I made a thread about how people that spend money might get weighted games, games that favour streamers or high spenders… it was flagged and removed.

Ya that tends to happen when you upset children.

I think I’m start ng to figure out what is incredibly frustrating to me and running this meta for me. RNG has always existed but I think classes had more tool.to deal with crazy swings dealt by RNG.

Right now one of glaring issues to me from a ‘im tired of this’ standpoint is actually dark gift. So many games can just be won on the spot with a favorable dark gift. Like charge on al’akir or reborn on a variety of odd all death rattles.

Been playing this game from year 1 and I can honestly say this meta post nerf for some reason is the least fun I’ve ever had in Headstone, and yes, I’d even take Stormwind quests over it. There’s plenty of reasons in generally but I feel the power spikes are so absurdly spiky and our ability to deal with any of it has been drastically reduced.

Also, the 6/8 in untargetable warrior dragon makes me quit more games than any early game card in HS currently. I just don’t get how classes are supposed to deal with that consistently. It’s so so so busted still in. It’s nerfed state and should be a 4/7.

I’m telling you wild is the only frontier for fun in this game. It is the only place where you can still experiment and make new things and that’s pretty much all the game has left. Standard is the money machine, and wild is the leftover basket where there’s not a lot of manipulation happening because they don’t care about it. Although it does still get affected by standards manipulation unfortunately too often. But all in all they will rarely sink their teeth in for money there at least. You can play in their game and join the Ferris wheel emotional rollercoaster that is standard, or go against the mainstream, and actually enjoy creativity in wild, it’s your choice really. There’s still plenty of merit in getting legend or high rank in wild if not a LOT more so actually… as long as you’re not netdecking the most obscenely Streamlined top decks anyway.. but I really think that gradient applies to both formats anyway. In either format being able to get to the highest ranks of this or any card game with already proven broken decks doesn’t actually mean much of anything. It doesn’t take much knowledge or experience or skill to do that. It’s more or less the equivalent of getting an a in the class for copying someone else’s work… adding filler words so that it’s still yours “technically”

I think that given the changes in matchmaking over the last few days, there are two possibilities.

  1. Blizzard has decided to shut down Hearthstone and is squeezing our last remaining dollars by using internal bots instead of human opponents.
  2. Somehow, even though server-based Hearthstone has been hacked,
Suddenly, for a few days now, I’ve only been encountering incredibly strong people in Arena (even the basic Arena), with perfect drafts, and with million-dollar skins. This isn’t normal. As I’ve often said, I’m open to a class action lawsuit against Blizzard. I’m a lawyer, and I believe there are grounds for legal action.

Who would have ever thought such a thing but i’m starting to see the silver lining. I’m a serial mass disenchanter so i can never play wild as i locked myself out of it years ago always dusting rotated cards.

But looking at it overall, right now at least, wild is more predictable and has less random chaos than standard. What a crazy sentence that no hs player would ever think would be uttered but it just may be le truth

It’s just horrible. There is 0 strategic feel about it.
RNG broken bull, every damn game.

I tried all the ‘top’ decks, they all get annahilated.

This, I tried the ‘top’ no minion DH, did a lot worse than the one I’ve been running since before rotation, focuses too much on Nespirah

Zeddy recently put out a video exactly on this topic and I whole heartedly agree with him.

So many games right now feel won/lost based on dark gift or discover RNG which really feels tilting. I’ve decided to embrace the RNG and go with imbue herald rogue and I honestly hate how well the deck tends to work out. While the game in its current state is certainly “playable” it doesn’t seem to feel as “fun” and relies more on perceived addition for players to keep going that actual adding fun to someone’s day.

I won my last game (diamond 2 for ref) on the verge of losing because i I’m used I to the demon hunter colossal and while it felt good to win, it felt dirty, and if I was the other player I’d probably throw my computer out the window.

I would honestly support adding 1 mana to every dark gift card and making rogue imbue cost 2. Sure it won’t fix things but at least it’ll disencentivize it somewhat.

This has to be ragebait

RNG Is down a lot more in current expansion.

Unless you’re losing to something like no minion DH creating lethal, sure its tilting.

The game is not RNG dependant atm.

Xavius is definitely probably the most important card in the meta rn, i saw the same Zeddy video

Theres less rng overall in the game which makes the rng feel even more frustrating and impactful

“Not RNG dependant” - I mean sure if you play consistently in bronze and there’s no variety sure.

At competitive levels, lethal is created / manufactured all the time based on the rng you’ve generated and that’s what give an advantage, especially in mirror comps, most notably warrior.

What you seem to be omitting from your frame of reference is the fact that it’s not the amount of rng in the game, it’s the impact rng creates as a) the card pool is extremely thin right now creating insane power discovers, and b) players have far fewer way of respoonding to threats after the last rotation. But both of those points were discussed in Zeddy’s video and in the posts above which I’m very cleare your read, watched, and considered in full before delivering a very well thought out and logical response to this thread that in now way demonstrates a lack of understanding of the current competitive meta :).
