hey guys I was going to do an arena and accidentally clicked this icon that took me to this page called Mercenaries, what is that
A dead game mode that was supposed to be kind of like WoW’s pet battles, but worse.
If they had simply just made it pet battles, it would have been better.
A game mode so unfathomably bad that they lumped into the hearthstone download to trick people into playing it.
There are so many ways to fix it and make it more approachable. Could for starters cut all the episodes for a path in half and they’re still a** long due to the turn based fights
They could fix Mercenaries by replacing it with Duels.
Bring back Duels!

Mercenaries is the product of soulless suits at Blizzard pushing devs to develop a format that would be so pay to win or monetized that Marvel snap would look like a charity in comparison.
The effects of this forced monetization are apparent to all, a format so dead that people have to ask the forums what it is.
Note that’s not my take, that’s directly from the book written about Blizzard which gives some insight about the decisions this behemoth of a company takes, which is especially interesting for glaring mistakes such as mercenaries.

They should make a format that is like Paper Mario. You have walkable cards that go around the World of Hearthstone on quests and adventures.
This is Warcraft and we are about to enter the World of Warcraft era.

Mercenaries wasn’t awful but a week after players figured out how to use it to farm gold they nerfed it into oblivion.

A zillion times better than battlegrounds.
Mercenaries was a money grab that actually had a lot of potential but Blizzard dropped the ball and shot themselves in the foot botched the roll out so bad.
They did not develop the mode properly before launch. It was not a complete product, it was a total disaster… They should have REFUNDED players who paid real money to collect the cards for that mode, But they didn’t.
Don’t waste your time with it as Blizzard no longer even updates the mode.

It was suposed to be another money sink but I remember people using it to farm experience for the reward track as well as gold with bots.
It would be acceptable, if it scrolled up fast. I couldn’t stand the loading screen every moment was playing an easy level (those had a fight almost as long as the loading screen).
It could be fine if they were simply not updating it. It could be a finished product.
The thing is they don’t event fix it and it still has bugs from their last final update.
