im very curious because i just reported someone who sent me very explicit comments and threats and just want an idea of if something will happen or not because if the message i got doesnt qualify for abuse and threats, nothing does.
I don’t know about a chat restriction in Hearthstone so the only measure they could take would bann the user either temporarily or permanently. Haven’t heard a lot about that though.
In some games such reports don’t do much as the answer often is that you took the deliberate choice to engage conversation with the other person and accepted whatever they could say. But that’s more often true for games that have a chat in-game, and you accept the friend request after the game and after you most likely saw what the discussion would be like.
so my skirt said i wanted to SA’d .. gotya
Most people are emotional. If you carefully read what was written it probably doesn’t actually cross the threshold for being a threat. For example saying “I hope you die” is not the same as saying “I’m going to murder you”.
If he actually did manage to type something that you can report and is actionable, you won’t be told what was done (if anything).
I don’t know what it requires to assume that without having a single clue of what the exchange really was about, but you certainly must have a lot of it.
It is the same stuff that leads you make every assumption that you have and continue to make every single day.
I made no assumption in that topic, you did
I factually shared what I know about report systems regarding in-chat harassment, regardless of the veracity of the situation
You denied one’s experience without having any information about what actually happened
That’s nothing comparable
Can you please rephrase? I’m not trolling, just genuinely don’t know what you are saying.
You sit on the forums so much because other people can’t stand to converse with you.
They really should be able to ban players (temporarily or permanently) from sending friend requests, and if that isn’t enough, from chat altogether.
“I hope you die” is a personal threat very easy to look up and ask experts. It is the samething as “I’m going to murder you”. A threat is define and see below.
Noun
1.a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done:
Law
a menace of bodily harm, such as may restrain a person’s freedom of action.
2.a person or thing likely to cause damage or danger:
the possibility of trouble, danger, or ruin:
3. an indication of something impending
Cyber threats meaning online on the internet of a person threating body harm in a chat is no different. Offline and online are taken seriously. It doesn’t matter if the person is emotional this also applies to the age.
“Ask experts”, like you right?
What a joke. Are you american? Must be the land of laws for thee, not for me.
You get battlenet muted.
They have an AI that filters through messages to see if they are nasty, and if sufficient reports you get battlenet muted. This means that you cannot send messages to anyone, you will get 404 error could not send message. If you are in HS and send a friend request you will get “Game done and recorded, restart hearthstone to continue”, you cannot add friends or respond to friend requests. And worse, if you are a quest that you can do it with anyone, cuz you your requests for games will be restricted.
The problem with this is, that it applies to Diablo as well, and you won’t be able to send w/ or talk in channels ( which heavily hinders your ability to play with others), and also in WoW except if you are in a party/raid.
Because Blizzard cannot mute you on the hearthstone client specific, they can only mute your Bnet account, which shows exactly how bad they are at fixing issues…If you are toxic in hearthstone, doesn’t mean they should hinder your ability to play other games. This is why I haven’t played WoW in years, and why I do not play diablo anymore. It’s very hard to do a rota of bosses without being able to speak ![]()
Me and Dunning have literally spent my whole youth in monitoring how Blizzard does things. I actually gotten into IT with all the info I’ve received from monitoring their tools.
Pot, please meet kettle.
