''Well Played'' emote drama

Will leave this here, I’m 100% behind lunalove on this one.

You shouldn’t be able to squelch until after your opponent has emoted twice

Wow, another video where Zeddy portrays something trivial as something contentious. If you watch his videos, you lose brain cells.

He said on a stream that he is making clickbait videos because theres nothing to talk about…

You got to feed that youtube algo and keep the funds comings the quality of content is irrelevant.

One of his worst videos.

No one cares what happens on Twitter.

I didn’t mean that in terms of a criticism to Zeddy, really. I’m not pretending to be an expert on how to make a living as a YouTuber, and I’d want to have a clear concept of a truly better path before tearing down something that works financially.

In terms of personal context, I’m strongly against US military interventionism, and always have been, but I am also a veteran. Eventually the enlistment bonuses became larger than my moral scruples as a poor man.

But as far as his audience goes: garbage into the brain, garbage out of the brain.

I used to like Zeddy by watching his stream a few times. His videos are what they are. His persona is that of a perpetually salty player. The sky is always falling in Hearthstone.

Emotes don’t bother me particularly, but do bother what seems to be a surprising amount of players. I believe we simply need an autosquelch toggle, which has been wanted by players for as long as I’ve been playing, and surely longer.

Edit: Also, browsing the Hearthstone subreddit; I don’t see any posts about this.

That does seem like the type of thing best kept to oneself. I wasn’t bragging to my commanding officer about my mercenary mindset.

Lol

Agreed. Doesn’t seem like a good idea. :joy:

As an aside, I don’t blame the guy for trying his best to make a living, fairly innocently at the end of the day.

If you ever see him on twitch he is a totaly different person , the youtube persona is a mask.

What he did was quite clever he toke on the role of the over the top angry fan when all the other streamers were rainbows and sunshine to please Blizzard or too big to even care either way.

He toke a niche that grew into a monster and made bank with it now he needs to feed said monster regardless of what he realy thinks.

Must stay salty angry and stir up the pot to keep the coins coming.

GMs being mad about emotes?

I guess this forum isn’t much different from GMs, after all :joy:
We just need one GM that blames a script that makes them lose everytime they don’t purchase a bundle

Some trolls are happy in their little world thinking that emoting non-stop is tilting you. If Blizz implemented auto-squelch, those trolls would assume everyone is auto-squelching, so they would probably rope every single turn.

I feel like the people who get triggered by a single emote have never played a CCG in real life. Unless you actually hate your opponent, 99% of the time it’s a friendly experience regardless of the outcome. Both players don’t sit there quietly while only speaking up to announce an action either. A big play will likely get a response of some kind. If I top deck a board wipe in MTG and say ‘well played’ before casting it, unless I was very obviously being a jerk in the moment, my opponent wouldn’t be pouting about it.

The people who spam emotes, sure. They are pretty much always being a jerk. But personally, I have never assumed the worst from a player who emotes before or after a big play. There is an actual person on the other side of that computer screen trying to have fun and interact. All we have are those few emotes.

The “Well Played” drama is some of the dumbest “drama” I’ve ever heard. If you get triggered by emotes that are purposefully set up in a way to reduce BM banter, you probably need to look inward. These people wouldn’t have lasted a day in the 90’s where terms like GG and GG NO RE were used in literally every single game. It’s so childish to get so angry over something so trivial. A mature adult should never get angry over something so miniscule.

It is not surprising thou.
IRL we can see many examples.
Here posters can get angry over grammar or forum avatar or just posting.

Auto-squelch should have been implemented a long time ago. Until then squelch at the start of every game and let the kids enjoy talking to themselves.
