Un-nerfing Cards Could Be A Possibility

Considering that now Blizzard has shown to buff cards, this possibility seems to be closer to the norm. The argument of “Blizzard would never do that!” is sort of out the window because of this.

To keep it short, what do you think you can see being unnerfed? I could totally see Fiery War Axe and Yogg being reverted. What about you guys?

Now that all of the Druid shenanigans aren’t in standard, they can consider bringing nourish back to five mana at least

Wild is just a dumping ground anyway

They did unnerf Molten Giant, and thus far the effect has been fine. Molten giant sees play in mostly Mage (and sometimes shows in the new “miracle mage”, some Warlock decks, and alongside Thekal in Paladin. The buff allowed it to return to Mage and Warlock, whereas in the case of Paladin it would have probably been played with or without the nerf.

Huh, unnerfing cards… where to start? I mean, I was a huge fan of old Yogg back in the day, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a problem in modern Wild. Then you have class cards like Win-axe, Rockbiter, Aviana, and Mana Wyrm which all went up by one for various reasons, some more debateable than others.

But you know what, I’m just going to name a single card: I want old Keeper of the Grove back. That thing would be just fine as a 2/4 in today’s meta.

Heck no Blizzard isn’t un-nerfing Fiery War Axe, they would lose all the money from printing another version of the weapon if they did. No classic or basic cards are ever going to get un-nerfed. My Fiery War Axe is gone forever.

I hope they’ll never unnerf Aviana, that card was really a pain in the #?!.
Stupid Star Aligner Druid, I’m so glad they nerfed Aviana.
I hope this deck will forever rot in hell and all the other Aviana+Kun abominations.

Huh?

Prove it. If you can, I’ll remove it from the post.

They can’t print Wood Cutters Axe again but with another text if Fiery War Axe is already a good weapon at 2 mana for warrior.

I don’t have to prove it. What I am saying is like saying “No plant will ever walk.” Sure I guess it can happen if plants decide to evolve and change their design goal of conservation of energy just like Blizzard can change their goal of making money, but it’s probably not going to happen. It doesn’t require me to prove it since it never has happened, it lies on you to prove that it could happen.

Molten Giant disproves it. Are you going to remove your post, or act like it never happened?

Molten Giant wasn’t technically a un-nerf since it went to wild and what happens in wild doesn’t interfere with Blizzard’s money making strategy. It like saying “There was one type of planet that did evolve walking abilities but it went extinct as soon as it did.”

It was a classic card that had its nerf reverted. The precedent is there for nerf reversals, that cant be denied. Especially now that they are buffing cards, reverting some nerfs is not a giant leap from there.

Being in wild as a card is a nerf itself. It means the card can’t be played in standard. Reverting something means returning it into it’s original state. A wild card and a standard card isn’t the same thing. A wild 20 mana Molten Giant isn’t the same thing as a standard one.

Again, the precendent is set for nerf reversals. Rotating to wild is not a requirement of doing so, its what they CHOSE to do for MG. There is no reason some nerfed cards couldnt be reverted and stay in standard. It might be unlikely, but we never thought we’d see an actual card buff wave either. Nothing is impossible.

Nerf -cause to be weak or ineffective
In a card game, a card being actually literally unplayable is making the card ineffective. Moving cards to wild is a type of nerf, it is a different type of nerf than where you increase the cost of a card mana wise or reduce its effect but it is a nerf nonetheless. Molten Giant was’t reverted to it’s original state. Therefore it didn’t get “un-nerfed.”

Blizzard don’t make money when they up the power levels of older cards in standard. People will not buy new cards if the old cards worked just as well in the same way the new ones does, it’s just bad business.

You think theyre gonna make money with the upcoming buff wave? Most of us already OWN those cards!

Not only that, but how many people dust all nerfed cards? They will have to recrafte them if they are reverted (and necessary, obviously). They can make money from reverting nerfs

Cards like Keeper of the Grove I can see unnerfed, but cancer cards like Yogg needs to stay down. Whole championships were decided because someone nutjob got lucky on his casino roll.

Some of my stupidest losses came from the fact that a dude who decided to swap his tech card for Yogg rolled a straight flush and got 40 mana spells in his favor with nothing left to lose and swung the game.

I could see KotG.

But Yogg isn’t legitimate, really. What’s his name? HOPE’S END, the last chance at a win.

I played Yogg Mage back when it was big anddd… wasn’t good.

How DARE you call our lord cancerous!

Yes they are going to make money from the buffs, if they didn’t they would never have buffed them. It is like a promotional resale of the packs that are going to rotate out to wild in a year. Why do you think they only buffed Doomsday cards and nothing else? Especially nothing from the classic and basic set? It is so people can buy Doomsday packs.

I can say I myself don’t have most of the cards that are getting buffed, there are a lot of casual players in HS who do not have those cards either.(Maybe not a lot on the forums, but the forum doesn’t domstrate the average HS player well.

Oh heck yeah dude, if they ever un-nerf fiery war axe I am going to craft it again.

  1. Basic cards can’t be crafted or dusted
  2. People rarly dust classic cards even if they are bad because they stick around forever
  3. It is rare for people to buy packs just for dust, that’s insane. Blizzard doesn’t make money by selling dust.

lol cherry picking the basic cards.

What about Nourish?
Or Blade Flurry?
Or Knife Juggler?
Or Leper Gnome?
Or Keeper of the Grove?
Or Ancient of Lore?
The list goes on!

UNLESS those cards are nerfed, in which case the standard procedure for many players is to dust the lot as there is nothing to lose.

Of course people buy packs for dust. After 70-80 packs thats pretty much all you’re buying as the majority of cards you open will be dupes.
