Writing about academic researches about psychological impacts of the word “loser” in Hearthstone is too funny lol.
If we go this way then we can just delete all emotes from the game because someone gonna get frustrated and cry about “Wow” and “Aww thank you”. The “sorry” emotes also got deleted because of such over-sensitive people that gets frustrated by someone in a cards game.
You get frustrated by such simple, silly emotes? There is the squelch button. You get frustrated by a card’s voice? Mute the game.
Oh and BTW, considering Pen Flinger’s nature (going back and again to the board a dozen times) probably any possible voiceline will get frustrating at some moment, because is that one that you better know you’ll hear it like 15 times and you know you can’t stop it.
If you hate that much the “hey loser”, what’s your opinion about Anduin’s “Darkness will consume you”, Valeera’s “I will be your death” or actually any galakrond voiceline?
Can we ‘Be less Woke’.
3 possible words: SIMP, BETA, VIRGIN
Nice discussion, even though I can see the viewpoints on both sides. But really the “wasn’t me” part… Is that supposed to be him doing a SBD fart during a match???
I don’t think it is possible with any creative medium to make something that some part of the population will not find issue with.
Thanks for an attempt at referencing some research however you did default to using the catch all ‘many studies’, ‘many academic research papers’ which is a bit of a fragile argument.
I’d note that what I think is the article you have referenced was retracted due to errors with the data ‘merging’ and analysis. (RETRACTION article Front. Psychol., 17 December 2020)

I think the character of the Pen Flinger is intended to be provocative and should be entitled to use the language you find issue with.
