This game isn't worth it anymore

I really wonder if the player base hasn’t been shrinking because I’m about done with this game myself.

They add BS cards that enable a moron to beat you if they play it.

They have had so many expansions anymore that it doesn’t matter in wild.

Most of the expansions for the past 3 years haven’t really added anything of note or that makes the game feel fresh again.

They have added mini event after mini event where it gives you two choices: either play what you want or play the mini event exclusively because unless you want to dump 90 minutes a day into this game you can’t do both, but often the mini events have you playing crap decks that you can’t win with in order to finish the daily quest.

Not only that but at least one of the mini event quests from this current mini event is bugged. Do damage with your hero power 10 times ranked +1 does not work. I did damage with hero power 10 times over 2 ranked matches and all I had was 3/10 forcing me to play a different daily event.

I know some people don’t agree with me on this, but at the end of the day the mini events will be what kills this game. I’m sick of feeling like I should play those for the rewards, but in doing so I haven’t gotten past silver 5 in like 2 years now.

If you are playing a deck and you see that your opponent is doing X then you might as well concede because you have a 5% chance of winning that match.

Mercenaries were dumb and luckily they haven’t spent any more effort pushing it.

Solo adventures were okay, but also kinda lame and thankfully they haven’t spent any more effort on those.

Battlegrounds have become incresingly designed so that high MMR players can win and if you’re not one of them you can’t.

Tavern brawls are basically a waste of time that does nothing but frustrate you for one lousy pack of cards. Often you have to play 4 matches to win.

Blizzard decided that to make more money they were going to start adding skins, pets, etc. just like all of their other games.

Honestly I should stop playing this stupid game and save $1500/year + 10 hrs per week, and a crap ton of frustration.

So quit. Find something you enjoy more. If you already have, great!

I’ve played since beta. This is the first xpansion i have decided to not play. I haven’t logged in in over a month. I do not miss it. After watching some youtube video’s of the new xpac its the same cycle every time… broken OP mess every 3 months. I also don’t think any game is worth $120-200 every 3 months just to play. It’s basically a wow subscription in bulk every new release; and what do we get for it… mess mess mess. It was fun in the beginning but the power creep and win conditions have become so egregious that the game is just a rage-bait simulator at this point.

I wish you all well if you still enjoy it but there are so many other games to explore that aren’t financially debilitating and much more balanced and optimised for fun.

You shouldn’t be spending any money on the game at all, because you’re right the game is a dumpster fire. You can get most of what you need with some patience for free. I refuse to spend a dime, or any time I could be playing a quality game, so only play on my commute train. Some days I can go the entire commute without a single legitimate game in which I was allowed to be an active participant due to RNG discrepancy. Played someone who was guaranteed a death blow 3 times in the same game, save for a statistically impossible scenario, which amazingly occurred 3 times. Amazing how often that happens too. The ranks are essentially meaningless.

Occasionally you’ll get some slob emoting like their presence was even a factor in the game, then hiding when they know they’re gonna be called out. Then the next day I’ll be the one with the RNG welfare (the single biggest factor in any match).

I want to like this game like I used to, but the design team is just as bottom of the barrel as it has ever been.

In my experience it was always possible to play what you want to play 30-40 minutes per day and get all rewards. I basically ignore quests of mini events.

Oh no. The game is designed so that players who play better win. How they dare to do this.

Tavern brawls are really a waste of time, but if you have to play 4 matches to win, it is your skill issue and don’t think that it is very common.

You’re a fool for spending any money on this crap. The game us fine, but it doesn’t worth spending money on it. Mostly because its a money grab. They frustrate players on purpose to make them believe they must spend money to win more. And thats not true.

Besides, they are so lazy with balance… Colossus is still OP 1 year later… why would anyone PAY FOR THIS?

No you’re being a dick. It was easier to get a higher MMR years ago. The game changed.

Also sometimes I win tavern brawl on first try. But sometimes it takes 4 matches. Stop being judgmental. You don’t know me.

I don’t subscribe to the I must pay to win fallacy. I just like having all the cards and in gold if they’re neat looking. I don’t buy plat or sig as they weren’t a thing in the original game and I would spend wayyyy more if I did. Dumb? Yeah probably. As you don’t usually use more than half of the cards every expansion.

Exactly. You expressed the exact atmosphere of what poor card mechanics has led to this point in 2025.

As Fry from Futurama would say…. Can’t tell if trolling or really that stupid.

Seriously… who the hell spends $1500/ year on hearthstone?

Sooo… mayby because this is your skill lvl and glass ceiling? Accepnt it and try to improve. I play this game for a month and already in gold 1. Now i stuck between gold 1-2 and cannot get into next rank because i do silly decissions, sometimes opponent is better and sometimes rng hits me. Thats the way it is

Oh wow, I missed that first time around.

Let me get this straight: You spend $1500/ year on this game, AND you can’t get past Silver 5.

There you go folks. Conclusive proof (lol) that Hearthstone is NOT pay to win….

People who love the game and have the expendable income to buy a lot of product.

The game is just a scripted mobile app. Nothing more.

It’s a complete waste of money to spend, let alone give it to a company like Blizzard

You dont need to overexplain it ,the game is not worth our time not now but the past 8 years . When people start to realise their time is the most valuable thing out there , more valuable than actual money, then maybe they will start to make demands or not playing products that eat their time . HS is time consuming and not enjoyable,is more of a compulsion and not entertaining.People saying is good and entertaining is the same people that thing MCDonalds have the best burger because is cheap

Oh yeah…since the majority of decks and cards are all about RNG….yeah this game is ALL ABOUT SKILL

It was summed up rather nicely in another thread. Imagine a corporation basing profits purely off rng.

Don’t let the apologists convince you that this game isn’t scripted

My question is why are you spending money knowing that the classes aren’t balanced? I have not spent any money on Hearthstone as a way of expressing my dissatisfaction. Do I still play it? Yup!

Why do I spend my money on WoW Classic? Nordstrom? Amazon? and any other place that provides a product or service? Because I’m happy with the product or service. Look at Amazon, when there is a failed purchase what do they offer? Excellent support.

The employees at Blizzard need to learn that if they value their jobs, then they need to design a product worth paying for.

yes we know

is a digital game

….it has to have scripts by definition

What a copium. Sure it helps your ego to think that, but in reality saying this and believe this avoid yourself to learn from your mistake and be better at the game.

You play around rng and make choice with the highest outcome/value, around decklist and their archetype.

The game is dead. The devs know it’s not worth putting effort into, it’s just squeezing the last few drops out of the lemon, squeezing that little bit of money out of it before they give up on it. It’s the “we will never make it good, so don’t try to do that, let’s just get what we can out of it til it hits the iceberg”.
