Battlegrounds right now is mostly good, but Quillboar are currently absolutely ridiculous.
If there are Quillboar in the game and you are not Quillboar, no matter what you do, you are likely to finish 2nd or 3rd even with an outstanding board.
Unlike some previous metas where maybe certain Tier 4 minions were key, with Quillboar it requires key Tier 5 and Tier 6 minions, so a generic hero can’t build towards it, you have to luck it into it and heros that discover minions have a massive edge.

It is hardly a serious mode to really complain about. queue up again and move on with your life, you cant win em all.
Quilboar is king of the end game, no one else can really compete with the exponential scaling.
I mainly play duos, so the problem is likely more obvious there since a partner can feed you quilboar and you can definitely highroll more consistently.
No one goes Naga or Elementals anymore. I’ve never seen an end game of either of those work where it beats Quilboar. They simply can’t.
Quilboar needs to be toned down or the others brought up to par.
Only Demons can really compete with Quilboar but they won’t scale anywhere near as well either.

All these new minions in tribes are a mess to be honest. I’m not playing as much as i have in the past. Some of the tribes are just not very playable or they are impossible to pivot to early because there’s a tier 1 or 2 minion you need to make it work effectively. Very weird design choices IMO.

You mean, “in your opinion”.
I haven’t played Standard in a while because the format has perpetually sucked for a few expansions.

I lose to quilboars most games that make it to the late turns. Once the quilboar end of turn effects stack up for a few turns the game is pretty much over. They go from having similarish stats to everyone else to their whole board being 200+/200+.
Just a few possibilities that would make quilboars more reasonable:
- Remove one of their three tier 6 minions.
- Either remove divine shield or push Roogug up to tier 5.
- Swap some of their end of turn effects to beginning of combat or beginning of turn to slow the stacking, and reduce the deathspeaker synergy.

I agree, but I disagree with disregarding balance issues within the mode. It’s possible to lose and it’s something all players need to recognize and do their best not to let it affect them negatively, but it doesn’t change the fact some things need tuning.
I watch Kripp for my HS Twitch time, and it’s amazing how fast you can build up QBs in Duos. All you need is for your partner to go scam after the fact, and all that’s left to calculate is combat RNG and who found the comp first.
I’ve tried Naga endgame, got all the right pieces and it just doesn’t keep up with Murlocs and QBs. If you can pop off early and get real lucky with units and spells, it can probably hold up, but it’s not as easy as QBs. At some point in some lobbies, Naga’s are just out at a certain turn no matter what you do unless you just hit the absolute nuts early enough; same thing for Beasts.
Glad I’m not the only one. Usually by now I’m back to pushing my max rank, but I’m only 5.1k or so. I feel like I’m starting to grasp using multiple tribes to get into endgame builds with a good amount of health, but it feels different this time around. The design choices for some of the tribes are indeed a bit weird.

Final Solution to the Quillboar Problem.

… Anyone?

I get the reference… probably not a great attempt at humor to reference genocide (I’m pretty sure ‘too soon’ applies in perpetuity). I know you’re not trolling, but ick.

Yeah, probably. Albeit, we are living in a time wherein the masses turn a blind eye to genocide, so, I dunno.
I was here when they dropped it and I’m still there.
Still not really playing it at all. I don’t think I’ve climbed to 2k yet.
They changed too much too fast, and the changes weren’t beneficial to the mode.
Its one of their most, if not the most popular modes at this point, it having its own button on the main menu and all, having its own seperate tavern pass, as well as just having had a secondary mode to it added.
Just because you dont care, doesnt mean it is not objectively popular, and people wanting the game to improve. Please leave if you dont understand what the forum is for.
I’ve seen Dragon and Beast boards dominate games over quilboars before. I think it’s mostly a matter of what key minion you encounter first.
That said, quilboar has multiple key minions so more chance to hit i suppose.
