The MONK CLASS deserves to exist PLEASE

I used to love this game, and played it for long stretches, in the background and in any downtime. I love to play the classes i play in world of warcraft probably cause im a sucker for class fantasy. But the fact that monk still isnt implemented after all these years is just depressing to me. I would return in a second if you released it.

I remember way back in 2017 when the excuse was that the balancing would be to difficult. Since then you have made so many changes including adding two more classes. Demon hunter came before hand which just felt like such an insult. You know theres so much class fantasy, heroes and minion, spell and ideas out there. There is no longer any excuses to prolong adding it. I myself have a million ideas about it and would love to give any further feedback and information if that’s what you’re waiting for. But I also understand that it’s most likely still a budget, time and balancing constrain. But you have to admit that the game is so much more complex now to balance than previously. Probably you have more tools to do so since you decided to add new classes aswell.

Just because Monk didnt have the same playrate in world of warcraft at the time, or if demon hunter was just more akin to what expansion you wanted to release at the time doesnt matter anymore. Please just add the class and i would love to have input of what it needs as a long time monk lover. And other players would understand and catch on really fast aswell. I have so many thoughts about it, hire me, hire someone or just do something. You know there’s so many people who have since fallen in love with the class fantasy since then and would return to play if you did it. Remember why we started playing your games to begin with. Class fantasy trumps everything in Hearthstone. Return to your roots and please grant me this wish. Monk is love, monk is life.

Hearthstone isn’t WoW, what would a monk class add that would make it different? And what would its hero power? Healing? Already have priest. Attack? Rogue, DH, Druid for that. Armor? Warrior and Druid. Anything monk has going for it can be done by other classes, I’d expect if a new class is added, it’ll be Evoker

It started out pretty based on wow but over the years they’ve drifted further and further from it. FFS they’ve mixed starcraft into it and created their own non-canon characters that exist nowhere in azeroth

I mean, we had druid with a hp that gave the hero attack and paladin that summoned 1/1s, and then they made dh and dk anyways. Doubt it would be hard to make a very slight variation on another classes hp and call it good enough.

On the other hand, do I think adding monk would be a good move? Not really, dh and dk made the game worse in my personal opinion. I do like monk in wow, though, so I can understand the desire to see them added. I just have zero faith that the hearthstone team can implement them in a reasonable capacity.

If they do ever add a monk class, I hope they make it thematically neutral rather than specifically pandaren themed. That was a giant mistake in WoW.

I’m neutral about the monk coming to HS. Thematically I’m not a big fan but how it actually plays matters way more. As far as ideas go though, I’d rather have something else. Maybe even something outside of wow’s playable classes. Hate to invoke wow forum discussions, but something like a tinker or spellblade would be cool.

i hope they add monk someday too. i am not sure what its hero power or card themes would be though, but hopefully someone can think of something.

Monk Hero power: [Tiger Palm] Cost 1 - Deal 1 damage to random enemy. Increase the damage for each turn in a row this is used. After two uses, this becomes [Blackout Kick] at the end of the turn. Cost: 2 - Target enemy minion is returned to the opponent’s hand if they have room. After use, becomes [Tiger Palm] at end of turn.

I mean, they could choose to go nuts with it, make it a core part of the class identity. Give monk four stances, activing your hero power let’s you choose one of the three you are currently not in, so you can’t use the same one twice in a row.

Tiger Stance: gain 2 attack this turn

Crane Stance: deal 2 damage split among enemy minions

Serpent Stance: heal your hero for 2 health

Ox Stance: give your hero taunt until the end of turn.

You remain in that stance until you swap, but you only gain the effect when switching. Then you can make cards that trigger when you are in a certain stance, do different things depending on your stance, or even swap you to a specific stance and active it immediately.
