When the Hearthstone™ patch 36.0 is live, we will no longer support the Hearthstone game client for 32-bit operating systems. Players on 32‑bit Windows OS will be unable to launch the game after Patch 36.0.
The vast majority of Hearthstone players are already using a 64-bit operating system, and this change will allow us to focus on making the client as stable and efficient as possible.
If you are using a 32-bit operating system, you will need to upgrade to 64-bit to ensure continued updates and compatibility. Check with your OS maker to find out how to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system and what applications will be affected.
Why We’re Retiring 32-Bit Support
The memory limitations of 32-bit operating systems can impact the playability and stability of many modern games, and 64-bit operating systems have been industry standard for several years already, and as we’re nearing the end of the CATACLYSM cycle, the time is right to make this change for Hearthstone as well.
We recommend updating to the 64-bit version of the OS before June 30th, 2026, to ensure your Hearthstone gaming experience is unaffected.
That’s not what I meant. I was talking about the original motivation of the developers. They want to do things that Unity will run out of virtual memory without 64bit.
PS Maybe Unity itself updated it to force it, but that would still make it a motivation of developers (of Unity).
It’s a multibillionaire corporation. Give less bonuses to the Executives for a year. If you tailor make a game engine for the needs of HS I wouldn’t be surprised if it improves perfornmance by ~50% and it would actually NEED it because the game is unplayable on an average mobile processor especially for BGs.
HS is a cashgrab game for the mobile crowd, more often than not those kind of games don’t last. It’s a surprise it’s still going, especially after just officially killing off Twist
4790k, gtx1060 6gb. Been using this system for over 12 years now. Pc prices in Japan are out of wack with reality. So, I gotta keep using. I should probably repaste my gpu.
YEa, problem is I play more than just hearthstone. GW2, Wow (used to, anyway), Skyrim, Fo4, NMS. the system is basically an ancient Acer predator G3-605 with a cpu, ram and gpu upgrade years ago. The thought of trying to get something better while living here in Japan is a pipedream, at best. If I was in teh US, I’d at least have access to other secondhand options. Here, I have yahoo auctions and places in Akihabara, mostly. In other words, no options at all as those 2ndhand markets are obscenely over priced because the average Japanese person has no concept of value when it comes to secondhand items, especially when its tech related.
I routinely see systems older than mine still being sold on yahoo auctions for 150 USD equivalent.
