[Standard] Wishlist for next year's rotation Threadj

I’m hopeful that the desingers aren’t completely out of ideas yet, but its my biggest worry too. Its really bad in battlegounds where they recycle things every year or two (now many times have anomolies shown up?) but there have been some sort of new ideas in Standard in recent years. Miniturize and gigantify are somewhat unusual ideas for these sorts of card games, for example (even if not totally well executed). But my wish for next season would be to see new mechanics that aren’t just reruns of old ones like quests. And dial back on the mana cheats, please.

Wishlist for next year’s rotation

Number one, immediately: rotate cards like Shadowstep, Preparation etc, which have been ‘broken’ and plagued the game since at least 2014 ( or perhaps even 2013, dunno).

Man, even Ice Block in Standard (yes, I’m not kidding) would have been less problematic than this.

Moreover, 10+ years of Roguestone in general have been more than enough. The current Core set has Tess, who can single-handedly win games if discovered by some other class (e.g. by Marin), had it happen with Taunt Warrior, but isn’t even good enough for trendy Rogue decks at the moment — which speaks sufficiently about the class, I think… Imagine what would have happened if other classes had stuff like Shudderwock, Ilgynoth (or however you spell it) in Core? Maybe even some Colossals, Titans or whatnot? They’d literally wail about it, yet for the Rogue class, such weak stuff isn’t even good enough. So, to sum up, I’d like to see it more balanced and even across different classes, hopefully with fewer useless ‘filler’ cards in Core, although that probably won’t happen.

Heh, I’d say this one isn’t that bad — at least no ‘Badlands’ and all. But for PIP, it would look relatively sane.

Of course, their attempt to fight power and insanity creep hasn’t been very effective due to some fundamental flaws in the game model, but at least they have tried.

You’ve gotta be kidding, right?

Starships in general are one of the cooler mechanic this game has had in years.

Just because some of them can sometimes be broken, e.g. the DK one reviving itself multiple times (possibly infinitely) due to events of high skill, doesn’t mean it’s all bad.

… defeat the purpose of the set.

You know, it has already been done in that MOTLK event, and… it hasn’t been very impressive.

With some relatively quick searching, I’ve dug this up:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAUb2QENEKA

.

PS That analysis was from before those cards were actually added temporarily to the Cors set… After they were — see also something like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4i2xazrh1o .

Apparently, the effect wasn’t at all that impressive, not from the Hero cards.

Absolutely not.

‘Today and forever I am your better, Arthas.’

As for the former — actually, no. I’ve maintained for a long time how so-called ‘hate cards’ (and associated phenomena like the infamous ‘meta cycles’) are indicative of bad design, for example:

No, they are not. First, as you said yourself, it’s not fun. Second, only a very… niche category of playahz with… unusual tastes, let’s say that, yank off at the notion of “Ooh, I played my fiftieth Plague of Death during this game, and I haven’t even touched my real removals yet” being a healthy state of the mode. Everyone else would consider this repulsive (btw, it had already happened previously, and, by the way, bye-bye, Swaggering Clown Reno, and good riddance). The reasoning is very simple: it’s more fun and interactive if the game is played on the board and the outcome is decided on the board. If you want it all in your hand… well, pardon my French, you could do that alone at home if you absolutely must.

‘Dominance’, ha. As for limiting those options somewhat — according to what’s been said above, it’s most likely been a conscious and purposeful decision, to make the game actually more healthy, and, for once, it has worked.

I think I’ve touched the subject above… As said, sadly, it’s most likely not happening due to greed and all that.

It’s not hilarious (see below on that), it’s an obvious consequence of the DK class’s still being relatively new, thus most of its (that’s how you do it without an apostrophe) cards being rather competitive in terms of power level.

What do they call it on the internets (sic), ‘the irony’? Of this statement, that is.

‘Me spam ten thousand removals, den yu ded, me smart, me control, you stoopid, hu playz di cards minion, ahaha!’

Yeah, yeah, learn to ‘play around’ near-infinite resource generation, which modern HS is riddled with. This isn’t 2014 or 2015 anymore, you know, when those options were limited, you could sometimes calculate that and then possibly drop your big bomb.

Oh, and what a surprise: some people wanna see big dragons, not the umpteenth ‘lol, erased everything and denied all the fun’ card, because it’s more cool and whatnot. This thought ever occurred to you?

Exactly.

Actually, you were supposed to put quotation marks around this word, otherwise the whole phrase is barely comprehensible and rather illiterate.

With that said, those ‘many people’ on the internetz are just bad at spelling in general — I suppose they’ve never liked reading much and all that.

Ha, as if a ‘native speaker’ is necessarily someone of calibre in this sense. Some illiterate bumpkin, bumbling fluently in some local dialect, technically counts as a native speaker, too.

On the other hand, it’s not unknown for someone to have become a top expert of the highest authority, to the point of writing numerous rulebooks considered broadly as the reference, in a language that wasn’t even his native one.

Alright, I suppose that’d be it for now. Sorry if I’ve missed something substantial, but with this post being… bulky enough as it is (as is this poster’s wont, I suppose  ), I feel like I need a break right now.

(UPD: a few typos corrected)

They won’t change anything at all… they don’t care about us or their own game… they’re only interested in money… so in December they’ll release another expansion that’s extremely over the top… it could also be that despite all the crap they’re pulling on us, they’re still making enough money with the dead game.

Noone in managment will they change the design team… because the people in charge of management are real people, because they’ve probably made enough money with the last two useless expansions, so why should management change the design team or let them change anything in the game? It’s working well for a completely worn-out game, they’ll only change something when nobody plays or buys it anymore…

it’s best to just create a new account for each expansion and play with the free decks anyway… there always seems to be something there that you can use to achieve legend or have fun with. or make so much new accounts that you become very lucky with pull legendarys from the free mass packs…
some people cry over the pets for 150 dollar and they dont get paladin skin…just do so often new account at u get skin or pet ^^ then look what to do with the account…spend or not, hold account or not

Some people are still playing because they probably spent a huge amount of money on their account…I can’t explain it any other way…or they’re just stuck…and hope last 10 years it will be changed into another direction…
but that will not happen anymore!
longer the game goes more worst will it be, and less they will care about!

and at the end they will realeas 9 versions of hearthstone or classic hearthstone that we can all start from new again and again like wow…
they find a way to milk us ! they know how to fool people…

They probably know us better than we know ourselves…like the youtube algorythm…

This is only as true as you allow it to be.
They haven’t milked me for a nickel in many years.
#FreeThinkers

Strangely enough, everyone claims they haven’t invested anything…maybe you’re just stupid for still playing…
you 100% one of their employees who wants to slap a free-to-play argument on us…and tell us how great and fun the game is…
I don’t believe anything here anymore; everything seems possible!
Besides, I’ve only been here for five days anyway, and I don’t care…

Lol. I have played since October 2013 and total, I have spent maybe 200. bucks.
I would say that is pretty: “free to play”.
Happy gaming:)

So suddenly you spent money after all… because you lied… here in Germany, there is a saying… once someone lies, they are not believed!

But did you forget that you invested 200 because it was 2013 jajajajajajaj? It just occurred to you 2 minutes ago, what a coincidence…

200 bucks is way too much, I think you act like it’s just 20 bucks… who are you trying to fool here…

200 bucks in 12 years is too much?
You are pretty amusing.

Played since 2016 and spent, drumroll, $0

these compamny ousts 20 employees in sex harassment probe…

Why did Overwatch change Cassidy’s name?

Jesse Mccree was the name of a dev at these company, which is where the OW team got the inspiration for Cassidy’s old name. That dev apparently did some bad stuff, so they changed the name to remove the association. Apparently, these company is a zoo. The real Jesse McCree was involved in some way with these company scandal.

and mallenroh you want work for them …and talk ever in their favor and worship these company…i see you are real man with principels

well, thank you for that. Not sure what it has to do with the topic.
I myself hope to see a return to more individuality in classes.
Homogenization sux.

And if you think I work for them, that says way more about your frame of mind than anything else.
Others here regularly thank God I don’t work for Blizzard, lol.
#magesRule

that is the reality about these company…but they not manipulate anything in their games and are like a charity company…

thats what you try to sell us or not??? with your worshipping and is all super fun bla bla …when i hear you spoke about them their games they good people and nothing is wrong…

Again. If you aren’t enjoying yourself. Quit.
Or, at least get on message.

FATALITY InkyImp WINS !

What could be wrong if i paid for the game?
I paid about 80$ last december when i got back into the game, and every tavern pass afterward (so 20$ in each 3 months).
It 's not a big deal i think.
The current meta is not so enjoyable, it 's heavily control favored, and aggro playrate only about 5%. But it’s not that bad as you say.
About the expac, i think you 're wrong. The current expac introduce relatively slow and lower power level cards, so only a few new cards 're in favourite list (which mean, less playrate). That 's why almost the top meta decks are using most of cards from older expansion.
