Rewards Track Update

At least blizzard accepted there is a problem going on, Well at least its a start of a solution(I’m still optimist)

So to solve a problem one does need to understand what is the problem and why is everyone so furious.

First rule: Never lie Respect is not a one way street and when trust is broken, at best case its too hard to fix it, so blizzard need to embrace negative reactions from players and take the hit like a man, they must know even negative reaction is better than being indifference, people reacts to things they love, and the source of this much rage is that they love hearthstone, nothing else, and blizzard needs to show some love and respect to their players, they must rebuild the broken bridge of trust.

As a player why do I don’t like new rewards track system?

The Reward Track decides and dictates “when” I will have the rewards.

In old system, when I have free time and I feel like I want to open a pack, I was able to open a pack when I want it!

60 gold quest + 12 wins was all I needed to do,

I could divide that 12 win like, maybe play some wild, play some standart and play some battlegrounds, and it was taking 3 hours maximum, and I was having really fun to farm a pack and opening it. “Me and my friends have even a joke between friends like, I don’t smoke, I don’t gamble, I don’t drink alcohol, I am opening one pack a day, is it too much? Its my only bad habit, hearthstone =))”

In the current system, I am level 20+ right now, and it takes 3500 experience to gain a level on reward track, and to open a pack a day what must I do? Weekly quests give us 6k experience, daily quests give us 900x7=6300 exp on avarage a week, so from quests we will get 12,3k experience, and to open 7x rewards from rewards track, I will need 3500 x7= 24500 experience. So how much I need to play daily for it? (24500-12300)/400=30,5 hours per week, and its 4,35 hours a day… 4,35 hours?.. isnt it a bit too much time for a hobby? I mean something more than 4 hours feels like pretty much a part time job, and what will happen when I reach level 50+? do I need to play 7 hours a day? These numbers are inhuman really and needs to be balanced so badly.

Reward track causes players to get rewards in a nonuniform way

Most players work with reward mechanism, players love when their plays are rewarded constantly!

I would love to get my rewards in a regular way, give us equal gold every day regularly. I mean if I would get 9k gold between 2 expensions, and if blizzard give me 7k gold shower at the beginning of expansion, that last 2k gold is not as tempting as driving me to play hearthstone more and more.

But I know why blizzard does it, because they want players to earn most of rewards at the beginning of an expansion, so they can spend most of their income, so for next expansion they want our accounts to be dried, so we will buy their new products with real money, oh blizzard please… we are as intelligent as you guys are, please don’t make us feel like fools, its like insulting our intelligence. Do you guys really thought we won’t see it?

Let me tell you something, I’m a true fan of card games for so many years, and let me tell you when I support a game financially: “when they really did a good work, and when they show they care for the game and players.” that is as much as simple. and let me tell you when I cut to support a game financially: “when they play little mind games and when they misbehave.” As a single player I can do as much only

And I know my 80 dolars payment is a funny amount of money comparing to your company, but I know this: I, as a player am not alone in these thoughts, and when you offend enough players like me, like us, you guys will lose hundreds of thousands players like me, and yes you guys will lose a respectable amount of wealth.

Its on your hands, to make everyone happy, including yourselves. Think about it

Blizzard, this is a step in the right direction.

You needed to take 2-3 though.

We were 2-3k gold behind where we started.

You can’t be relying upon seasonal bonuses to correct for this as we already were getting those. They’re a bonus, not a requirement.

The system needs to be mathematically provable as more gold for everyone, and it isn’t.

Do what you promised.

“Sorry for acting wrong, but we will go on that no matter what because we want you to pay more money, not to have more fun. Your feedback is very important to us because we find it pretty entertaining to listen to your whining while counting your money, please whine more.

I am very harsh and angry in the post. admitted.
Monetization is understandable, it happens in most companies.
Monetization taking precedence over everything else in most AAA/large game companies has just taken overhand and i can only hope that enough people have the stomach and will to quit the AAA´s for this reason to (in the long run) teach them a lesson.
There is a handfull of companies from where neither me or my gaming community will ever buy a product again ever. Blizzard got a little of my money instead of alot the last few years. Now they get zero. And I am not alone. Im going for another card game now following in the footsteps of quite a few ex.hearthstone players i know.
Game deleted from my harddrive. Blizzard pructs banned from myin my household. I did so a few months ago (i like the game). But I was stupid enough to come back. once is a mistake, twice is stupid. thrice is shame on me.
I will however follow this forum to see what happens for a while, but thats it.
Its a shame. But taking a stance is needed.
Have fun.

I want to join the rest of the community and would like to ask for improvement of the journey progression. I was used to buy minimal a pack daily.
Now I find this system insufficient. Boost it, upgrade it, change it… whatever but not just this kind of reward system which We actually have.

thank you

Blatant lies. So you did not want f2p players to get less rewards, but you removed the 10g per 3 wins? On top of that, the achievements that grant XP which you need to get the new cards require you to already have the new cards (!), the level grinding gets to a halt once you reach Lvl 20 or so unless you pay 20$ for the XP boost and while you say you wanted the players to earn more you somehow miscalculated and gave less, right? And this is all going to be OK because you promised we will have seasonal events, which we have had already!!!? It’s laughable and you should be ashamed for lying. The whole point of this new system is to reward the paying customer and entice him to spend more with XP boosts and cosmetic skins. That’s the truth of this. Your game, your choice, but it is our choice to stop giving you our money. But you should at least have the courage and integrity to speak the truth, which is “We want to reward the paying customer, because these are the orders of the CEOs and because this is what fills the CEOs’ pockets with coin.” At least then you would not be insulting our intelligence. I am so happy for not pre-ordering this expansion for this reason, and I am not going to spend a dime on this game unless you show sincere change. And I hope everybody does the same.

If they wanted people to get more rewards they would have done that. But it is obvious they don’t want to. So they are going to be giving out excuses like this one until the fuss dies out or until they see their revenue decrease.

I just have to say:
I really expected that the new rewards system would give substantially more rewards than before!
Hearthstone is not my job but I feel like it has to be when you want to be somewhat decent at it. You need to spend SO much money to have a reasonable amount of cards to play with.
I once wished to believe that Hearthstone (constructed) was a FTP game if you play it somewhat regularly to cash in quests and 10gold/3wins. But now it’s seems impossible even when you play it 24/7.
Come on, Blizzard: is a little bit of money from a lot of people not better than a lot of money from noone?..

Oh yeah, and one more thing: How could you have the impertinence to make the only achievements that yield something else than useless(?) achievement points the ones that you need to have special cards from the new expansion for (and a different one for each other, and most of the time not really commons)???

This is the first time since The Grand Tournament that I didn’t preorder and I will continue to do so unless there will be substantial improvements on the reward system.

This was by far the worst new expansion experience yet. I spent again another 100$ on the preorder and am extremely disappointed. got none of the cards I was exciting about playing, got barely enough dust out of all the trash I opened to craft one legendary. So much for having fun this expansion. On top you add entrance fees to all other games modes and reduce the gold outcomes. It’s day two of the expansion and I already don’t want to play anymore. I’ve been a dedicated hearthstone player since 2014 but this was my last dollars spent on hearthstone. As the free to play experience is even worse than the sour taste left after pre order I guess there’s only one more solution. Activision made you too greedy.

I suspect it’s due to the work around to the swears that caused it. I really like your points though.

Make hearthstone great again!
We deserve better than this

The bonus xp from events is complete BS.
Before this you got 10 gold every 3 wins AND whatever came from events. (packs, gold, cards, whatever)
Now you get almost no gold from playing and we are supposed to believe that the xp from events covers that AND gives the same?! Yeah right! =))
To fix this you should revert to giving 10 gold every 3 wins, which was maybe bad because it incentivizes people to play aggro.
Maybe switch it to 10 gold every 3 games?! Thus incentivizing people to play fast and not rope even if they win or lose.
Giving xp for time played is THE WORSE IDEA YET and who came up with it should get fired because it encourages people to rope instead of playing many games.
ROPING IS NOT FUN!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE GAME NOT FUN!

Just bring back the old gold system… remove the progression line and its rewards … maintain the achievements and I’ll be a happy camper…

This isn’t even a bandaid. This is a joke added to another joke. Blizzard your player are not dumb. Some of the most intelligent people in the world are gamers. We are the math geniuses of the world. So let me not a math genius break down how you failed us. In order to max out on gold like you could on the old system with the quests and the 10 gold for 3 wins you now have to play the game (after buying the $20 Tavern Pass for the Exp Boost) approximately 12 hours a day. Which that fact alone that you earn EXP through time played as produced a plague of ropers and bots trying to max out their game time while we their opponent sit and watch them do nothing. Hearthstone is supposed to be a free to play game. Yet you keep money grabbing making in pay to win. Now we have mid expansion releases where we will have to pay for even more cards to keep up in standard as well as a $20 Tavern Pass just to get the same amount of gold we could before for free. You did some things right it LOOKS great I like having everything laid out and easy to view where I am on each path etc… I love the achievements that give you EXP the rest of the achievements give you points that DO NOTHING… yeah I know there are a lot of games out there that give you point like this for no real reward other than having points but I had hopes for a Company that has been getting my money since Diablo first released that they wouldnt want to be like everyone else. I like the rewards track until you reach a point at which the grind it takes to get there does not match the rewards at all not even close (which you addressed in your post). The solution is easy the free non tavern pass rewards track needs to give us at the very least the same amount of reward we would get from the old system IT DOES NOT. At this point you should give us more for lying to us. If I have to pay for a thing that thing should give me more than what I was getting for free and I am not talking about skins that no one really cares or should care that much about. You are increasing the cost of staying competative in this game to the cost of a AAA Game for other systems 3x a year. Free to play is dead take it off the adds or change it to free to try but never reach Gold rank because you wont make the grind through the teir 1 decks that you’ll never afford the cards for before the rotate out of standard.

Or here is an idea.

1 gold for losing and 2-4 gold for winning. 2 gold for short matches ( 6 or less turns ), 3 for medium length matches ( 6-12 turns ) and 4 for long long matches ( 12+ turns). Concedes before turn 5 gives 0 gold, games lost where a the losing player has not played a single card gives losing player 0 gold.

I think turn based instead of time based works better to reward a player based on their archetype of choice. I also think that losing a match is part of learning, growing and improving so I feel it should be awarded a pity reward of sorts. It would be like the game saying. “Hey good try next time I’m sure next time you will win and earn even more.” Also the last couple changes to prevent bots from spamming the game.

Pretending that they did not implement the greediest system ever infuriates me. There is no way they did not know the baseline system
is inferior to the old system by every metric, yet they persist in the fallacy that We somehow misunderstood and they intend to make it up to us with season events. Give me a break. You got caught with your pants down and now you are trying to deny your dishonesty.
“Seasonal events” are treacle poured over a rancid piece of pie.
You implemented a gigantic time sink and a passive price hike and that’s the unvarnished truth.
You stabbed F2P in the back. “Seasonal Events” will not fix a predatory baseline system.

Activision is like a bad word. And i have not been the only one saying that.

Assuming you have access to a payment method…
Do yourself a favor, get a “pay once to play game” and do something else.

So you are apologizing for the lack of communication but you are still not giving any more clear information. We already had seasonal events, that’s not anything new. To make things better you have to increase base battle pass’ rewards, not add stuff later with fantomatic “events”. This change is a very little band-aid on a system who will ruin player’s experience. If you wanted to give us more stuff you would’ve just given us more stuff in a clear way, not hiding behind a complicate system. Just tell us that this system is worse because everyone can see it but you keep telling us lies and this is making us upset. A lot of players won’t buy anymore stuff and a lot will leave when next expansion will be launched when they see their amount of gold will be so damn low. Congratulation on making this already very expensive game even more expensive. Thank you from the community. Oh, and you silently didn’t give us any free packs this expansion like you always did, hiding behind packs given by the first levels of the pass. Another scam to the playerbase. This is ridicolous.

Non sense, you guys need to fix the xp generation/requirement, add the 3 victory-10 gold back and fix all those bugs that are affecting the game like the freeze yogg one; and you guys need to do all of this asap; unless you want to lose a huge part of the playerbase. Players are not happy; if you can’t see this then you guys should stop developing stuff. Because this is probably the biggest outrage in the history of hearthstone. You should NOT take these complaints lightly.

Do you really think any company would admit they were trying to rip you off?

Everybody does that. Its how bussiness works. And do they admit it? Nah, thats why there is PR to allow you to salvage the situation when crap break loose.
