DISCLAIMER: This post doesn’t say Denathrius should be immune to nerfs.
It’s begun.
The Renathal fan boys are all now spamming the forum downplaying Renathal. Blizzard said it’s in their potential upcoming nerfs. Expect to hear how every single deck and card normally ran in Renathal decks, actually sees just as much, if not more play than Renathal:
Denathrius
School Teacher
Okani
Theotar
Devourer
Guff
Do not believe the propaganda. This boy’s time is up. And if any of these listed compadres go to the nerfllotine along with Renathal, don’t be surprised.

Nah. The Denathrius defenders are the ones spamming. Not knowing/acknowledging that without Denathrius, cards like Renethal & Theo wouldnt even be required.
At least, for once, Blizz got it right and introduced the counter required in the same set as the main perpetrator.

Of the 7 classes that run Renathal, 6 run them with Denathrius.
Of the 3 classes that don’t run Renathal, 1 sometimes runs Denathrius; and it’s considered to be the inferior version of the deck (Imp Warlock).
Clearly Denathrius and Renathal are drink buddies; not eternal enemies.
No decks run Theotar without Renathal.
Of the 6 classes that run Renathal and Denathrius, 4 run Theotar.
The only class that runs Renathal without Denathrius, runs it with Theotar.
So it’s not the case that Theotar is Denathrius’s enemy either.

I’d rather they just binned Renathal entirely. In addition to watering down decks to all contain the same neutral minion package, he further polarises the aggro/midrange/control triad.

In defence of renathal I like playing slow 40 card decks that is all.

That’s why it’s getting nerfed.
Because you keep playing it so much.
And you are going to play it even more with DK.

I have no interest in playing death Knight.

Why not?
What is it missing for you?
I don’t know it just looks like a pointless new class that doesn’t do anything particularly original or fun to me.

I mean, School Teacher, Sire D and possibly Devourer are bigger problems when Renathal right now.

If I could make one card leave the game and never return, renathal would be the easy choice.
Seriously among the biggest mistakes the devs have ever made.
It’s the exception for me to see a 30 health deck now, and that just sucks becuase so many of the people running him are hurting their game.

Denathrius, Theothar and Devourer should also be nerfed. This cards are way too stupid and are the only thing making Ramp Druid still a viable deck along with celestial alignment and guff…
Even though ramp druid gets smashed by raging aggro, if you want to play any midrange or control late game deck other than ramp druid you have no chance cause you will keep queueing into ramp druids and get destroyed…

I feel the only time i see renethal it is either ramp druid, beast hunter, or thief rogue.
See a lot of the druids and rogues, some hunters, but every other deck is 30 at least that i run into.
so because the players now enjoy playing 40 card decks alot more rather than 30 cards it should now get nerfed?
so we listening to the underbelly again LMFAO.
logic these days: create an idea seems nice now we decide to shoot in our own foot and just nerf it because the cry babies think renathal is the problem while in reality the issue lies with the cards that are literally created to become a problem by itself and not with the assisted help of a useless add + 10 more cards.
oh and incase you are trying i dont even play denathrius let alone guff.
nerf these dumb cards and you solve a problem. else ban the entire expansion and remake everything because people are just running up blindly against walls without any option to climb out of the hole that they fell in to.

I’m completely fine with Renethal being nerfed but I’d rather just see it go the way of Genn and Baku…see ya later!

For the life of me I can’t really understand the hate against Renathal.
From my perspective, it has all the hallmarks of a perfect card. It enables a play style many people enjoy. It’s not taking over the meta and the best decks don’t run it. It’s not crowding out any style of play, there are plenty of successful aggressive decks. It doesn’t even do anything particularly obnoxious by modern Hearthstone standards.
Removing or fundamentally changing this card will just make the game less fun for many people, without any real benefits to show for it.

at least the hate agaisnt sire is easy to undertand but renathal?

You’re not necessarily wrong about any of that.
I would say the “40 people”, should go play in 40 mode with other people like them. That would solve a lot of the issues perhaps? I’m not sure

It is, and perhaps most surprisingly, it is the intended downside of Renathal (increased card count) and not the obvious upside (increased health pool) that does this. Attrition-based strategies cannot exist with Renathal taking up a large chunk of the meta. It is simply not possible to grind out the amount of greed this card enables. Midrange decks are feeling more comfortable than ever dedicating deck space to greedy cards and control decks literally have no game against them due to there not being enough removal in the game to deal with the volume of threats they can put out. Printing more removal is not a reasonable work around either because the cards are printed with the max deck size of 30 on mind, and having enough to hose a 40 card deck will cause major imbalance towards control strategies when Renathal rotates out.
