I mean they give a free access to 2 entire expansions for 4 months, that’s unheard of.
Regarding regular cards, the older the game gets and the easier it is to get them.
Event tracks give slightly more than the first ones and are never stopping (and since they don’t do BG event tracks anymore that’s more HS rewards), reward tracks give slightly more than the first ones, since there are 2 arenas now you can get more rewards with the free arena trick when it refreshes, drops are still a thing…
Like I said in another thread, by playing F2P you can end up any expansion with 80% of a complete collection by just completing quests and events.
I have more dust now than at the start of the expansion and all I’m missing from the timeways expansion is 9 of the 31 legendaries
Ther are several legal proceedings and sanctions related to the management of randomness and algorithmic transparency in Blizzard games, particularly regarding loot boxes and reward systems:
Transparency Violation (PEGI): In May 2023, the European ratings body PEGI fined Activision Blizzard for failing to explicitly disclose the presence of loot boxes (random paid items) in Diablo Immortal when rating the game.
“Deceptive Practices” Class Action (Hearthstone): In May 2022, a class action lawsuit was filed in California alleging that Hearthstone card packs (functioning as loot boxes) are deceptive. The lawsuit alleges that players spend real money without being adequately informed of the extreme rarity of the valuable items.
Gambling Ban (Belgium): The Belgian Gambling Commission ruled that Overwatch’s loot box system violated national gambling laws. As a result, Blizzard was forced to disable paid loot box purchases in Belgium to avoid criminal penalties.
Addiction Lawsuits: Recently (updated February 2026), several lawsuits have been filed accusing Blizzard of using psychological manipulation and random reward systems intentionally designed to induce addiction, especially in minors, without providing adequate warnings about the risks.
Italian Antitrust Investigation (2026): The Italian Competition Authority is currently reviewing the clarity of the information provided by Blizzard to users regarding the odds of winning and the real costs hidden behind “random” gameplay mechanisms in titles such as Diablo Immortal and Overwatch 2.
To me, and this is just my conjecture based on my own reading, is that could imply that each class that’s relevant to the current expansion will get a week or two of it’s class miniset being the flashy new thing available to get, then the next class gets to be in the spotlight for similar time, so on and so on. and by the time all relevant classes have had their spotlight time it’s probably time for the next expansion to release. With the following expansion having entirely different relevant classes for their turn.
I dont read into anything in that suggesting a move away from being purchasable with gold or with IRL$/runestones. But i also dont read anything there that would prohibit it either.
Based solely on my conjecture above, it could mean that instead of aiming for a balance neutral goal for each class respective to each other in every expansion, (a few key cards and some filler for every class), they are instead aiming for an ebb and flow, pendulum style-balance goal in mind. (Each expansion will have a relevant set of classes for it’s intended meta they have in mind, going back and forth between them, with even the option of changing which classes are in which groups based on the expansions.)
If any of my conjecture is even remotely what is in store for us, I dont really have an issue at all. But more info is needed to solidify my opinion on all that. For now, it is ebbing and flowing with whatever data is relevant.
I know all of this will be an issue for Mallenroh tho lol. unless by some miracle Mage ends up in the favored group of classes for like the first few expansions. But even if Mage is favored, he’ll probably take issue with what their new cards even are, given his fixation on what he thinks Mage Identity is. (Im just teasing Mallenroh, no ill will intended, just some jabs in jest is all)
What does this have to do with the topic? I swear, people like you just spout this nonsense in every thread you can thinking people will listen
Source is my rationale, which never fails
We all want to take part in the fun of releases. Keeping your class stale and waiting is a big bad change
