Paladin's YoTD Set: It's holding the Class Back

I said not “a lot”, not that there is none. Thing is, 2 of the 3 you listed are legendaries, while the 3rd depends on what RNG gives you.

Note that chromatic egg has been available since last expansion. It hasn’t really inspired new meme decks, in or out of quest paladin.

It’d be interesting to see someone actually experiment on making any deck involving these. If the meta allows it.

I tried to run chromatic egg the other day and it didn’t hatch when I used Teron on it, so it might not even be working properly.

Oh, that’s because when Gorefiend dies, it resummons a minion as if it was dead, not just summons a copy of it with +1/+1. The Egg gets the DR with it’s Battlecry.

That being said copying the egg with Making Mummies DOES work.

Oh wow I didn’t know that chromatic egg existed lol. Definitely going to add it into my weak quest paladin

Teron destroys the minion, which should trigger the deathrattle. The battlecry is only discovering what minion it will hatch in to. According to Blizzards wording, sequence, etc, it should still trigger the death rattle

Using Teron to kill an Egg will trigger it’s DH, but the Egg that comes out out Teron won’t have it.

it’s because every ok card paladin has requires tons of synergies. while other classes have stuff like priest galakrond witch is so good ppl will play it with 0 invoke cards in thier deck.

I get that the egg doesn’t retain the discovered dragon, but it also still failed to trigger the original eggs deathrattle, even though I think this is crap, because it could have made this a possible deck combo for quest Paladin.

I’ll test it again, but there is no reason it shouldn’t have trigger on the first death

That has much more to do with how bad priest invokes are rather than how good priest galakrond is

The real issue is the Classic/Basic sets. they are too weak and too irreverent. at each year cycle paladin falls way behind. only shines at the end of the year cycle. by shines I mean be competitive like a normal class.
why at the end of the cycle ?
because they have the most available expansion cards.

so the real issue lies within the basic/classic sets.

First two expansion actually addressed the paladin real issues
Curse of naxxramas expansion gave paladin [Avenge]. which should be a stable paladin secret.

Goblins vs Gnomes

  • [Shielded minibot] (an early game sticky minion.
  • [Coghammer] (good weapon with no strings attached) no condition or anything.
[Muster for Battle] early game swarm
  • [Quartermaster] A synergy with paladin’s Hero power.
All these cards are really good. the paladin really needed them

BlackRock mountain

  • [Solemn Vigil] a very decent Draw spell card.

The Grand Tournament

  • [Murloc Knight] the start of the cursed murlocs but this one served as a swarm. and was really a good card fitting for paladin decks (mechanic wise not fantasy wise)
  • [Enter the Coliseum] one of the best Removal paladin ever got. it’s equivalent to warrior’s Brawl. This card in particular should be a Classic set Card.

Hearthstone developers addressed and tried to fix the paladin’s issues. but they are all gone. because of rotations.

they need to transfer and change some of those cards back to Classic set.

I mean, Paladin basically has Shielded Minibot in Standard right now. You are right that there isn’t enough draw or synergy, hero power or otherwise.

The neutral set is actually quite important too, particularly low cost ones as pallies need to start growing that board or fight for it early. Pure paladin is a very recent thing, so paladins have always relied on neutrals.

Some examples
Naxx had sludge belcher haunted creeper
GvG had piloted shredder and OG DR 7
Even Grand Tournament had flame juggler as a good all around 2 drop
Un’goro had some good class cards, but from neutral set there were things like fire fly (good enough for a 1 drop) stonehill defender (aka discover tarim/tirion) tar creeper…

what you are saying is correct. and good addition. but it’s not the point here.
Paladin’s Known issues that they have ATM were addressed and Fixed back then. but they rotated out.
They can’t reprint them. cause wild exists.
So I believe the Standard Paladin is currently being crippled by Wild format. all our good cards that should be base lines are there in Wild.

Mage the past 5 sets ^

he’s talking about paladin not mage

I’m aware. I’m talking about Mage

Ops, I guess I just forgot to spell it out explicitly: the current neutrals available in standard also don’t do much for paladin, so that’s even less cards available to help the class out, fill gaps, etc.

still missing the point regardless of why galakrond is so good in priest the point is paladin has nothing on that level

Just saying priest not so great either. Paladin, warrior, and shaman definitely pretty bad off.

isnt highlander priest one of the best decks on ladder now…
