New Demon Hunter Class Leak

so all of this is just for 2020 but only through a part of April. Their announcement implies they will announce stuff for the rest of 2020 and some amount of time beyond this year.

They’ve also been working on (and failing) with the other 9, what difference does it make?

I also think saying they’ve been working on it for “years” is a massive stretch. I’d say at most they started planning this around the start of 2019.

The one mana hero power doesn’t sit well with me. There’s something about all hero powers being 2 mana that strikes an important balance to the game. I mean, I guess it’s not breaking anything, but it just doesn’t feel right to me. Then again, I really didn’t think they needed a new class either… just push some new cards.

It never did damage to your minions…what the hell?

they started backwards, next expansion is monk and last will bring DK again, just you wait

it doesn’t do face damage anymore, just enemy minions thats the change

Yep, priest spells were reworked to minion only damage.

I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say that Blizzard has ‘failed’ at class balance. There have been some ups and downs for sure - and it also depends on what you mean by ‘failure’.

But in my eyes, Hearthstone is more or less fairly balanced. There are no decks, let alone classes that have absurdly high win rates. Metas adapt, things get nerfed - all in all it leads to a relatively balanced game.

It’s not perfect by any means, but it simply never is in card games. MtG has exactly the same issues - metas, powerful decks, flavors of the month, etc. etc. - it’s just the nature of card games.

I mean, I guess they could be planning to gift everyone a free set of cards from all the expansions.

Or, oh yeah, this makes more sense. This is why they started making class specific packs.

You are missing the point. Its highly unlikely theyre going to be printing class cards for old sets for a new class, not only would it annoy the players having to craft cards/buy packs for old sets, but its unnecessary work. So it will be B&C sets along with 1 xpac worth of class cards for the class.

Unless they go full retard and try to brute force DH into being competitive day one, by printing ridiculously OP cards (recipe for disaster right there) for it, it will take a while for it to become competitive. And thats fine! Accept it will be trash tier for the next 12 months and let the class evolve naturally over that time, so when next years rotation happens they are on ~equal footing with the other 9 classes.

That is the logical way to introduce a new class into a 6 year old card game.

Part of me thinks this is fake new and we will see the official announcement with this same info on April 1. The other part is big thing summit that nobody can talk about and this is it new class.

Polygon literally took down the webpage. It was leaked on there

Can’t disagree there, I was slightly exaggerating. They still have been performing well below basic expectations lately though.

Incoming call from Wild

Of course, I’m not expecting constant perfect balance or anything. It’s just that lately blizzard keeps making stupid mistakes when it comes to balance and everything else.

Hopefully the unnerfs, set reworks and new class will help to patch up
Blizzards miss haps.

You did indeed, I really didn’t think they would ever add another class, but here we are.

As soon the player numbers drop significantly, they will go more drastic changes, thats always how it works, but im afraid it will only be delaying the death of the game.

hearthstone needs something totally new out of the card roatation,

2 playable 2on2 mode would be a hell of balance act BUT, it would give hearthstone what it is missing as most by far!! The social component of the game.

People played for years more wow because of ther friends EVEN when it wasnt anymore fun.

Imagine what cuold happen to Hearthstone when peolpe still like the game but can go in Team Voice and talk about the strategies what card to play next?

I even wrote once how you can implement a 2on2 mode without changing the Game UI.

Short: Teamplayers can switch positions+ hand on every turn.

this is all pretty confusing…
they are adding a new class called ‘demon hunter,’ which is a weak mix of hunter and warlock?
they are buffing priest core set, but no other cards?

welp, off to craft golden velen.

I have to say…after looking at all the cards Demon Hunter gets as a basic set, the cards synergize extremely well together and are very power creep feeling. Glaivebound Adept for example is extremely good. Wrathspike Brute is extremely good. Wrathscale Naga is extremely good.

NONE of the cards feel like “filler” cards like many, many cards are in other classes. Every single card is decent.

Also…if this is a leak…where is the legend card(s) for Demon Hunter? There are none. Perhaps saving for reveal?

I don’t doubt that this is all real, it’s just very powerful. But I don’t mind I suppose. It will add a lot to future metas.

DH hero power is better than Rogues. Since it’s not a weapon you can equip different weapons and it has buff mechanics to attack that stack with it.

It’s not like they have Deadly Poison and can’t use it. Every thing in the class works with it in mind. You can still use Greenskin with the weapon. Or Blingtron in Wild. You just can’t use Greenskin on nothing.

Also if this is fake. Holy hell that’s a lot of work to make a whole slew of fake cards, and hunting down fake imagery or making it.

To be fair, they probably had to make DH cards stronger for the short-term because there are only going to be class cards from Basic, Classic and Ashes of Outland (the upcoming expansion). I don’t know if they plan on back-filling prior sets but I’m getting the feeling that’s not the case.
