Need help against big priest

Okay, so i’m kind of Totally done with big priest.
Standard is a mess of bomb warrior and infinite hunters, so it’s not a fun place to play matches.
I need help dealing with the deck.
Because i so far have not found a way to defeat the deck, i will post a replay of an attempt and a deck list. Mind you, i don’t want to play an uberspecific deck that does not seem fun to me, like baku/genn decks or aggro decks, quest mage, zoodecks…y’know stuff like that.

Play Big Priest?

Can’t beat join them :joy:
I know it’s a bit boring, that’s wild.
All the cards, different decks you can make… yet anyone plays what’s OP and win them games.

I did make a deck that counters big priest… I called “Sheep mage” however it doesn’t work against other decks lol

That might have something to do with the most fundamental thing your post is full of - your assumption that you must counter everything your opponent does, instead of playing your own stuff.

HS is designed to promote the latter, not the former, and while Wild has some major issues, it won’t ever change that one aspect.

Big Priest is indeed widespread, but I see a lot of Rogues, Odd Paladins, Shamans (mostly Even) and fellow Hunters.

Run baku pally feat. Loatheb. Any big priest without Barnes on t4 goes down.

Currently I feel like all you see is
a) Big Priest
b) that new Quest Mage (where it shows how problematic Conj. Calling really is)

I had some rather funny moments when my opponent insta-conceded because I played mage and priest … if they’d have just waited and realised that I play odd mage and odd priest xD

Join me sub rank 15 where I run whatever I want and just have fun.

Edit: But yeah I get the point. It does suck that a deck like Big Priest is so rampant.

If you want to rant, fine.

If you want help, post your deck list. Guineth did last month, and with some refinement advice, she got Rank 10. I took her example and made a solid list and also made it to Rank 10 last month, with a positive win rate against both BP and QM.

Even jade druid can beat pig priest, the deck can be beaten, the quest mage can do a sokid win rate against it, I use the polymorph and some times it’s enough to beat it.

But yes, I know what you mean, pig priests plagued the ladder since Vargoth arrived, the dude just broke wild.

The decks I’m beating pig priest the more are odd pally, zoohealock, quest mage and Dearhrattle priest. The last one is just a ress priest, but I made to annoy big decks.

Nahhhh, real prieststone was in the raza days…today is pretty light on priests in comparison

What do you mean no counter. I mostly face aggro decks designed to kill you as fast as possible, it works well against big priest. Also the mill rogues are literally there to counter big priests. A lot of mage decks also fares well against big priest. Stating that big priest has no counter is wrong… sadly NOT having a deck that can do well against big priest is a bad idea thou. So the meta is made up of decks that can beat BP and BP themselves.
Think you gonna have to switch deck.

stone metas have 30% class playrate …priest is less than half of it

What are you talking about? Quest Mage, the meta version and every version I have played against doesn’t use Conjurer’s Calling. This is essentially the deck with minor variations usually to include Vargoth to 2x the Quest reward:

Quest Mage - Wild Meta Snapshot - June 27, 2019
Class: Mage

2x (0) Elemental Evocation
1x (0) Freezing Potion
2x (1) Ice Lance

2x (1) Shooting Star
1x (2) Bloodmage Thalnos

2x (2) Primordial Glyph
2x (2) Research Project

Aggro works but they still have ~25% chance to win (Barnes w/ no counter) if you, as the aggro deck, have a decent opening hand. I’m personally sitting at about a 70% WR with Murloc Shaman against Big Priest over the past 2 months (May & June) and I’d consider that counter territory.

Another option is either of the popular Mage decks in Quest or Exodia. Big Priest doesn’t really like either of those according to the data. I can speak from experience last month that Exodia seems about 65% in your favor but I am blindly stating data in Quest Mage (above) as I have never played the deck more than a couple of games.

im sorry if hs was designed to promote uniqueness there wouldn’t be box-out.

box out is anti ‘do your own stuff’.

play a big slow control deck.
watch big priest turbo you down.
play a midrange deck.
big priest lols.
play aggro? Yea, you have a shot v BP, and…maybe that’s why you see so much aggro?

The game is designed to have 1-2 box out big decks that are ‘the best’ and then aggro to try and turbo it or the rando mill rogues that take the later-strat of trying to OTK It.

Whats the big problem?
Mana cheat.

Mana cheat is enabling these big bad decks to have threatening lethal sitcho’s around turn 5-6-7, not like turn-10 or 15 like some Hakkar Druid or so.

See the difference?

Mana cheat is letting these big bad big preist, bloomlocks, conj-mages and such get-stuff online way to easily and too quickly, even by just one turn.
that polarized the whole meta to attack it.

So no, you can’t go play your own stuff and have a positive winrate.
I wish that was the case yes.

Your stuck playing meta, or don’t win.
Meta is big priest and fellow mana cheats, so you play that, aggro that, or try and mill rogue it.

This is called box-out.
like 3 deck types absolutely dominate the format Mana Cheat, Aggro, Mill-OTK.

Well, Blizzard’s own explanation is that the playrate is extremely high for the actual winrate of the deck. Implying that people think it’s fun to play as, and that’s why they’ve hesitated to nuke it from orbit. Because it’s popular and not as good as everyone thinks.

It’s just that it’s got some rage-inducing setups to lose to, and it’s a Priest deck which doubles the frustration for some reason. People complain about Priest no matter how bad the class is.

I just wish the devs would finally stop giving Uninteractive solitaire decks like quest mage and big priest so many tools, while not giving ANY to stop them.

COMBO DECKS ARE NOT FUN TO PLAY AGAINST.

Jeez…

What a stupid thing to say.

Don’t mislead newer players with misinformation, that qualifies as trolling to me.
