My manifesto to a player (community forum) on Blizzard, The Universe, and everything

Blizzard would never have been able to sell this game had it not been F2P.
That was the whole appeal, the freedom to pay only when you could or felt like it, and it worked really well until Activision decided they needed more profits from the product.
First they fired or ran off all of the highest paid (and most talented) designers and developers. Then they created more content under the guise of giving players more. Fallacy. They were giving themselves more ways to make money.
Now they have gotten far more direct and have slammed the F2P base in the teeth.

And I think you’re wrong about this generation. I was born 54 years ago and I have watched the wealthy sell a lie to the rest of the population so egregious that it defies imagination. The system has bled the middle class to the point that there is no middle class to speak of.
I speak with people every day: (and you don’t seem that different)
who think they are middle class when they earn maybe 30k a year.
Well, only if you live in Alabama, or some other equally economically strangled state.
The fact is the powerful have pushed the prices for living as high as they can, while forcing the earnings for the working class as low as they can. (not unlike what Activision has done to the game and Blizzard.)
They have also attacked public schools because they are rich and their kids will go to private. Students (and their debt) are just another income stream to bleed. They don’t care if your kids go to college. Healthcare? They are rich and they don’t care if you get sick. Social safety nets? Same thing. They are rich and have no interest in giving back to the workforce that allowed them to become wealthy. Infrastructure? They have no interest in rebuilding the system that allowed them to be successful. Someone else’s problem.
Cleaning up pollution created while they were getting rich? Same thing. They can’t be bothered. And it goes on and on.
You may think you live in a meritocracy that rewards effort.
But the reality is that if you get rich it will be in spite of the thousand obstacles that the already wealthy place in front of you.
They will accept new members if they are forced to, but their club isn’t recruiting new applicants…
Have a great day.

Why did you make a new post for your reply? The salt level here is alarmingly high even for you. Maybe take a week off and get away from Hearthstone? Dont lose it and dust all your cards!

I’m good. And it may be salty, but I believe every word is true.

This is the core issue that so many fail to see.

I think Activision/Blizzard is the perfect example of what is happening World wide. Produce as cheaply as possible. Charge as much as possible.
And let someone else worry about everything else.

Predatory capitalism. It’s actually incentivized by the current tax structure, for goodness sake.

to china. the game would have done fine with more reasonable priced packs as a pay to play only. but it would never have reached the chinese market.

I don’t think it would have survived here either. The whole appeal is the F2P structure.

The consumer still has the power. IF you and enough others dont buy they go out of business. You make it sound like the rich control everything and there is no hope so just give up. There are many rich ppl doing exactly the opposite of what you say as well like Gates Foundation. There is still good out there but it is getting less but its not at the point its total 100% doom and gloom.

What is more scarely to me is the 73.9+m ppl that voted for bafoonery, conspiracy, and idiocy and the political party that put its head in the sand. Those ppl dont go away and a new breed of smarter and sleeker conmen may take hold of them.

We have lost critical thinking as a skill. Education is falling and ppl are devolving. This is the truly scary thing. Sheep are being manufactured by the millions in the guise of conservatism when in reality its conspiricism.

Good points. There are outliers to every situation and you are right that if Consumers would close their wallets, Blizzard would be forced to change.
But that isn’t really an option in areas like Healthcare, Food, Clothing and Shelter. All of those things have had the same draconian model applied to them in the past forty years. The wealthy by and large, have less and less use for the masses.

Not enough #eattherich in this thread, buncha cowards.

Needs more cowbell? :stuck_out_tongue:

ive never met a single hearthstone player that didnt play the cardboard crack or pay to play mmos, and the reason they dont stick with hearthstone is the cost vs value and the poor balancing.

people dont have a problem paying for a good game. it would have done just fine, and would probably be bigger now had they not gone F2P.

I disagree, but I suppose we may never know.
And this game started as F2P. It didn’t transition.

Spread the word !

ROBIN HOOD IS BACK !!!

But i get it, the hommo-sapien is a creature that chases hierarchy molded thought processes and money is a tool to move these humans.

The thing remains that people are so easily influenced into spending cash on things that are practically air but somehow they think they need all the released cards right away.
Just save up your gold and spend it if you would like on 50 -80 packs or something for the next expansion.

I have spendid around 1000 euro on worldof warcraft years ago, and zero on hearthstone
It is time for this game to reduce the price tag and increase the expierence gain and reward value with a cheaper dust card creation.
But hey with over 2000 dollars on hearthstone i see how this will keep it intact as it is.

I completely agree. Like, how many times does socialism and communism have to fail miserably, and even fatally, before people stop insisting they can make it work?

Let me clarify. The 73.9m votes scares me.

Except those are the names conservatives have given to anything left of hunting homeless people for sport.

They aren’t even remotely factual descriptions of policy from any major American political party. By global standard and historical standard we actually don’t even have a far left in America, but hey, don’t let facts get in your way, right?

Exactly.
