My final thoughts on Blitzchung's ban

Ok, I am thoroughly super bored with the trolling now. The people who keep reacting have made it entirely too easy. So, I’m simply going to post my thoughts, keep the rest of my replies in here, and find other things to do.

I am firm on my stance, that politics should not be involved with my gaming. Do I agree with China on everything? No, not at all. I am a Trump supporter, who is very glad economic pressure is being placed on China, after years of bad deals for our nation.

I see a company, that saw a situation start which could have caused them a headache. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. If they don’t ban him, then politics gets involved with the tournament, which is bad for business. If they do ban him, they risk upsetting the fans, which is also bad for business. If they don’t nip this in the bud, it’ll spiral out of control. So, they try and nip this in the bud. Things still blow up. I feel for Blizzard on that one, just trying to enforce the rules peacefully, and avoid a PR nightmare.

I hear about a bunch of people these days, that get riled up way too easily, over very little. The group think is real these days, and I personally think anything that bursts this political bubble as far away from Socialism as possible is a good thing. Seriously, ask any Socialist you know if they can think of one past example where Socialism saved the day. Then, do research into their claims, because they’ll probably try and spin a yarn.

People do not watch major sporting events to see protests and hear about politics. Nor do people watch gaming tournaments to hear about terrible things happening in our world. That stuff is bad for business. Remember when people started taking a knee during the national anthem in the NFL? Well, a bunch of youtubers uploaded videos of them burning their NFL memorabilia in protest.

So, with past examples like this. Of course Blizzard would want to stop people from getting politics involved in their tournament. No amount of “Armchair warriors” twisting arguments around is going to change my stance. But, you’re welcome to try as it’ll boost my thread.

Maybe the people on these forums that are genuinely outraged, are genuine about their outrage. How is complaining about this on a forum going to do any good though? You want to make a difference? Form a group, write to your local congressman. Write to the President, about how you want Hong Kong freed.

But the harsh truth is. All you’re really doing by griping about it on the forums, is chasing people away from the official forums. Then, they’ll go talk Hearthstone elsewhere, and ignore you. You might feel or think you accomplished something. You really didn’t. All you did was ruin the experience for those that do enjoy the forums, and wandered in wanting to talk about Hearthstone.

There are good reasons why companies these days, try to keep politics out of their products. People do not watch comedy movies to hear about how many people died during the holocaust. People do not watch horror movies to see fluffy harmless kittens. So naturally, people do not play or watch gaming events to hear about politics!

How that simple point is so hard to understand, I don’t know. Then again, Jordan Peters became a pseudo celebrity due to moral outrage. It was people sick of the stupid moral outrage that helped President Trump win. It’ll probably be those same people that get him to win in 2020.

Bottom line though. The moral outrage of this generation has to be one of the stupidest things in modern day history. Yeah, Blitzchung was banned because he brought politics into a gaming tournament. Good! I’d feel the same way if a pro-Trump person started shoving their politics into the tournament. Life goes on, and being an armchair warrior isn’t going to do a damned thing about it.

Amen brother MAGA!!!

I am absolutely “hand waving” the issue away. It doesn’t bother me that he got banned, or how Blizzard reacted. I don’t care. I’m just observing, and interacting. The freak out has had it’s interesting moments, a lot of dumb moments, and let me really annoy people for a while.

Eventually, even a topic like this will be banned, or moved. I look forward to that time, so I can go back to playing my game, and coming to forums once every other blue moon or so, and being able to talk Hearthstone.

My life goes on, doesn’t change, and isn’t affected by this. Nor am I going to pretend that it is, or going to be. I offer no apologies for that.
