Today’s patch seems to have resolved the issue. 10 minutes play time used 2% battery and no noticeable heating. Prior was 15% for 25 minutes.

Same issues here as everyone else on iPad Pro 2020, iOS 14.0.1. No overheating but battery consumption is much higher than before the Patch.
Same here, iPhone Xs here running 14.0.1.
Hotfix patch didn’t help with my phone. I downloaded it, restarted, played a game of battlegrounds and it still ate 15-20% of my battery, phone was still pretty warm too.

I have the same issue over the past few days. Came to the forums specifically because of this new heat problem. Uncomfortable to the point of needing to take my otter box off just to keep it cool. iPhone XS Max 64gb over here. On iOS 13.7 (seems to be not exclusive to iOS 14). When I close out of game, phone temperature returns to normal.

Patch seems to have fixed it! Phone isn’t heating anymore and battery consumption is as norma. Thanks!
Still running pretty warm after the patch. Battery drain also high.

Only hearthstone heat the whole phone up and drain battery so fast.
iOS 14.0.1 iPhone 11 Pro Max. Over wifi at least, the problem seems solved with last nights update. 4 games, phone was still cool to the touch modest battery loss. I did uninstall HS and restart before downloading it again after the the App Store notified an update was available.

I saw that I had this issue with the hearthstone phone heating since the last update.

I can confirm the same problem.
45min play time (3-4 round in BG) and the battery lost more then 50% of capacity.
Before BG patch I played 3-4hours without losing the 50% of battery capacity.
(environment: iPhone XS with newest IOS)
The heating problem is easy sensible.
So I think there is a problem with computing optimization, or do you mining bitcoin?

We hope this issue is resolved quickly.
I calmed down, I thought it was because of my phone, I suspected it was from the new update. Since the phone is new, it is almost 5 months old. IPhone 11
