For the first time in my time on Hearthstone, there is a “just for you” section as regards to hero skins.
However, I looked at the skins in there, and they aren’t interesting for me, they’re not even for the classes I typically play.
I’ve been hoping for one particular skin to come into the Shop for about four years, and it was never offered, and I am sure this holds true for many other players and particular skins they’d like. If Blizzard is going the route of “just for you” content with hero skins, please make “Just for you” be solely for players’ dream skins, rather than just another section for skins the given player has no more or less inherent attraction to than the normal skin section.
To actualize this, simply sell the player a token in “just for you” in Hero skins, and allow them to choose one greyed-out hero skin in the Collection – a skin the player doesn’t have. The token disappears, the skin becomes the player’s, and the player is very happy! Voila!
Much later on, maybe when the next expansion or next season comes out, re-open the “just for you” hero skin section and sell the token for another skin grab, and so on.
Not sure where you’ve been in regards of Hearthstone’s store for over the last couple years, but the Just for you section has been there for a long long long time.
The whole point of the just for you section is to curate a potential list of things for each player based off the most often purchased skins in general. So the list includes for me, 100% Hero skins for BGs heroes. For you, it might be 100% constructed format hero skins. Others may have a mixture of them both. But the list is based off where you already spend most of your time within hearthstone, and then from there which skins are most often actually bought.
They arent gonna just give away a token that lets you unlock anything at all like you got a gameshark code good for one time. The whole point of the multitude of expanding hero skins is for scratching that itch that collectors often need to scratch. making certain skins easily obtainable and others harder, and some rare to obtain, increasing their value and therefore their cost.
Its only an issue if you cannot resist the urge to scratch the itch,
I don’t think they were asking for it to be given away. No skin, except the animated newer ones, is worth any more than any other. Selling a “go pick a skin” deal would be a great idea. Sell actual skins a little cheaper and sell the wildcard one for a little more because of the freedom it grants.
Are some heroes i’d like for certain themes. But being denied that possibility for arbitrary reasons based off predatory marketing practices kills the motivation to support the game and breaks whatever immersion there is to be had.
What is predatory about having a limited time offer to obtain specific cosmetics? Do you think that trying to maintain the attention and interest of their customers /playerbase with such things to be predatory? I would call it building incentives to retain them so as not to lose them to other games that can just as easily take up all their disposable attention, play time, and ultimately, their business away from them.
Nothing predatory about that at all. If it bothers you so much then I think you ought to avoid Streaming services, Restaurants, Banks, any retail establishment that ever has things on sale, and should definitely avoid cell phone companies that have limited time offers.
Preadatory would be doing things which make powerful meta cards limited time only or only available through the shop. Cosmetics have zero effects on the game. Selling them allows Blizzard to be less predatory with actual cards. We’re getting more free stuff now than we ever have.
I’d love to be able to buy any skin at any time, but not being able to isn’t some sort of evil act. It sucks for sure. But it’s not evil.
Not sure where you’ve been in regards to the hearthstone store the past few years, but battlegrounds and constructed have separate “just for you” tabs.
One offers only battlegrounds product, while the latter offers Hero skins and bundles for regular hearthstone.
Yeah. You would think “just for you” items would include cosmetics for classes you play a lot. Skins obviously, but also signature copies of legendaries you play often.
If there were such an item, it wouldn’t need to be a “just for you” item. Also, different skins have different rarities, and different pricetags.
How about that. So there is. Odd tho, for me, I have never once seen the constructed one give the ! indication but I am always getting it for the BGs one, hence my original point of view. I play them both at roughly a 60/40 bgs/constructed split. Odd indeed.
I don’t think this as a bad idea or something in later discover through say limited time events
My take is that unfortunately those who did not buy most likely are special skins and they deserve to be unique. A system to circumvent that would also upset others and say a lot against it. Since they bought said skin and now new players can get them for free or what ever system used to make this .
I would love to see a say option like “ Marvel Snap “ that has from the vault for variants that you have missed or did not want at the time
