I think I might be done

Six years and probably close to 1700 hours. Can’t say I’m gonna say the game is entirely bad…. Obviously based on my stats.. lol but I will say I’m disappointed in how a little effort has been put into the wild mode. Wild boar is inexcusable. Wild Wisp mage is inexorable unless your playing aggro. And generally speaking just complete and total negligence is unacceptable. Every time I open up the game, I get disgusted at the possibility of running into either of those decks to the point where I close the app because it’s not even worth my time to play for weeks now. Because if I want to have a decent, somewhat presumably fair experience, I’ll have to play another deck which quite frankly will just be a deck That’s unfair for other people… probably boring and brain dead aggro, just to rank up without soul crushing broken decks specifically chosen to counter my every card, roadblocking me every three matches which end up dragging on for too long only to offer virtually zero agency. People can defend what they want, but I’m sad to say that for me I think my time with this game is just up. I’m not gonna switch to aggro, just so I don’t have to deal with crazy amounts of (essentially unwinnable) baloney. And I shouldn’t have to. Whatever. GG’s

How are Highlander decks for you? I don’t play Wild as much as Standard, but every time I play Highlander decks I get some good back and forth games.

I only play Highlander. And I agree that there are some really good games. But at a certain rank, you start running into a few decks that are simply unwinnable for that playstyle. This fact is, is that those Highlander games that are good are by far the most complex and challenging games that are possible in this game and they drag on for 30 to 40 minutes… That part I don’t mind… What I do mind is when I’m playing a 30 to 40 minute match And at the very end I slip up and make one mistake and lose the match. Again that by itself is not the problem. What is the problem Is that directly after that I’ll run into two or three matches that are essentially unwinnable. The timing and placement of the algorithm at a certain rank is just too unhealthy to be enjoyed. And it makes the ranked climb too excruciatingly painfully slow, bolstered by what feels like artificial difficulty. And via the nature of a more control/midrange oriented deck, even the unwinnable games happen to drag out for a long time only to end up….completely unwinnable, adding to the frustration via consequences of that playstyle

Yeah this happens in Standard too. It might be less extreme examples than Wild but you’ll get matches that are just really bad matchup, you can delay the inevitable but still lose. I guess in Wild they can happen quicker so you can move onto the next game, because don’t Boar Warlock and Imbue Mage win pretty quick?

Boar warlock does go super fast… priest boar does not as much but is still fast and essentially has the same effect and is ALSO a problem. Thats why boar itself needs a nerf. And imbue mage does not need to win fast that’s what’s wrong with it… no I will very commonly lose to imbue mage like turn 16 because I’m able to fight it that long, but it doesn’t matter that I am able to fight it that long because basically any turn after 9 it can drop the reckless apprentice bomb and shoot 80 damage at your face because you put two minions on the field. So unless you somehow win out of hand, or OTK after turn nine, you lose…. Or extreme aggro (because it can ALSO handle aggro)… the only real way to consistently beat all three of those decks is extreme aggro. As opposed to some form of midrange/aggro… although that does depend because midrange/aggro is a massive category

What if you Dirty Rat or Theotar out the Reckless Apprentice? It’s not quite so reliable but it could help. And of course, because Priest/Warlock has Raise Dead, that strategy won’t work against Boar decks

I’ve actually built my deck entirely around that and it doesn’t work… not nearly consistently enough anyways. Feels like about a 10% chance of making any difference. Because that’s not necessarily an easy target to hit. That deck will commonly carry about 15 minions and it can still win without reckless by combo-ing any two of all of the hero power cards that end up doing WAY TOO MUCH damage for that particular deck. The whole hero power package has culminated into a grossly overpowered powder keg. I’ve already talked about it, but they either need to Nerf/destroy reckless. Or a better more permanent solution, create an effective hero power counter card. But I am done with the petitioning at this point.
