How much would you pay for battlegrounds

The business model behind this game I don’t fully understand and I don’t want to give blizzard any ideas either but I am still surprised we got this amazing game for free.
How much would I pay? 1 time purchase for 100 or a 10$ monthly subscription I would buy instantly without thinking twice.

$0 as long as there aren’t any kind of rewards tied to the mode.

With a reward system in place I’d have to do an analysis of the reward, the difficulty of obtaining said reward and whether you could obtain said reward multiple times per buy-in before thinking about what I’d consider apropriate payment.

just lol at your pricings.

you get full 3ple A games at a fraction of those costs OR full mmorpg at that subscription module.

a fun “mini-game” (that’s what BG is) regardless how well done is it or not, is not worth more than a 10-15$ one time payment.

as for the actual BG mode, i’d say 0$ is the right price for the HS model.

The price is right at 0$

I think with how easy this mode is to get into and how gdamn addiciive it is, as long there will be Seasons and Rewards, I would have zero objections to something like a $4-6/month sub fee.

Its not so bad. But I wouldnt call it a “game” I would spend money or ingame currency on.

I would do something like Arena. I would make an entry fee of 50 gold. Prizes for the 1st place 100g, 2nd 75g, 3rd 50g, 4th 25g. And I would add some monthly prizes like a chest on the ladder. Higher the elo, better the prize.

Wait, really?! Rassy weren’t it you recently “giving up on BG”?

Something changed mate? :open_mouth:

For the current BG? Certainly 0$.

It’s fun, but it’s hardly well designed, polished content.

$0, it’s not my responsibility to pay for already-millionaire Blizzard’s CEO/stockholders.

And aren’t we pay enough via merchandise, tournament tickets, Blizzcon…? I bet Blizzard earned tens of millions alone for the recently BG tournament.

Zero! Seriously. This new format sucks. Totally Luck based.

Last time I picked Jaraxxxus. My power is buff demons and…
No demons to recruit? Seriously?
Round 2 again no demons to recruit. Well lets not lose by everyone else winning the race to the best minions on tier 4 and 5.

Too late. Next matchups that all have the beastie beast assembly line running full tilt. The DR Divine Shield Mechs…

Me? Trying to make something out of Bobs total crapola offers.

Squashed! By dude in second place for 12 health on turn 4 already
Squashed again! By dude in 1st place for another 11 health!

And yep, bottom of the barrel one more squashing by another beastie beast full tilt assembly line.

Would not pay a dime. Like arena, if you give me a free ticket - I will join it - get it over with grab my extra goodies.

$100?

Are you crazy?

I am willing to pay $10000000.

The game is advertisement. Companies spend money in the short term to make money in the long. Not to mention all other autochess games are free, thus they would encourage f2p players to just go play tft or whatever dota2’s version is called.

Other auto battler sell cosmetic items like skins, emotes, avatar and such.
If Blizzard charge monthly fee for this mode, it’d be very stupid.

Nothing. Given battlegrounds is a goof around mode I don’t see me paying anything into it. Especially since arena and regular play (buying packs) costs. Whether it’s money or time.

Nothing as I am still in the boycott crowd until Blitzchung is reinstated (or his 6 months are up). Fact is playing anything Blizz F2P is better than boycotting as you are actually giving $0 to ATVI yet use their resources in the meantime.

That said, I view BGs as a bonus game for spending/having spent on packs/adventures.

I don’t play it now and it’s free, so $0. It’s surprising how well the new format appears to be doing. All the pros are streaming it. What I don’t get is the primary gripe about HS is its RNG. So what does Blizzard do? They create a format that multiples it by 10, offer it as a new mode and these guys are eating it up.

You’re missing out!

Battleground, by far is more fun than the rest of hearthstone. Here are the top 3 reasons:

  1. It’s vs 7 other players which makes it feel extra awesome to win.
  2. There is no net-decking. You gotta figure out the damn moves yourselves. Fakers can’t fake it, you gotta man up or get knocked the * out. On a more serious note, this allows battlegrounds to have a higher skill cap.
  3. No net-decking will actually provide more variations in play, and fun for longer. It takes longer time for a meta to be figured out. (in standard it takes like 1 week, then after that everyone who’s level 10 or better plays the same damn 3 or 2 decks.)

In battleground, especially mid-game, no guide on the net is gonna tell you what to do, there are just too many scenarios and too many decisions.

It will be interesting to see how they monetise BG, it seems to be popular, and they have obviously expended resources creating it and are continuing to do so as they update it, so they must have a plan to make some of that back (and obviously , preferably make a handsome profit, no criticism they are a games company).

They can’t really sell golden cards, because they already have a function within the game, and Hero portraits might be tricky as you won’t get to use them in most games (unless you buy a full set).

Maybe they will sell themed cosmetics packs, i.e. alternate art for the demon cards complete with a Jaraxxus portrait?

Nice to get the game for free though, it’s a nice bonus and good fun on occassion.

I like this idea only I think your values are off.
