Hearthstone Mercenaries Bug Compilation - 25.4

Hello,

I’m making this post as a reference for most of the existing issues/bugs that I have personally encountered, or have been able to reproduce after others have experienced them within Hearthstone Mercenaries. It is not a complete list, but I hope that it will nontheless assist, and also bring attention to some of these issues, so that they may be resolved in a timely manner. Some of them are less consequential than others, but all affect the feel of the gamemode as a whole.

Update 1: I’ve discovered enough new bugs (and remembered enough existing ones) to update the list. Some of these are admittedly a little nitpicky, but I figured an “all or nothing” approach was an appropriate way to continue. Changes have been made to the sections of Ysera, Bwonsamdi, Neeru, Tess, Korrak, Khadgar, Aranna and General (now split into General and UI). Sections have also been added for Brightwing, Varden, and Long’xin.

Update 2: 24.6 has been released and so I’m making an edit to accomodate the changes made. I was able to confirm that Genn’s Smooth Transformation was fixed as stated in the patch notes. Ysera received ‘some’ fixes but the alleged Nightmare fix stated in the patch notes is incorrect in that it still functions identically to before, gaining nature speed benefits and no shadow benefits. Despite not being mentioned in the patch notes, there are quite a few bugs that were fixed in this patch which will be marked as resolved as they are discovered and confirmed. There are also additional bugs that I will be adding. Some newly discovered (Rattlegore has a few), as well as some that are older but I chose not to add at the time.

Changes have been made to the sections of Ysera, Neeru, Aranna, Hooktusk, Bwonsamdi, General, and UI. Sections have been added for Brann, Baine and Rattlegore.

Update 3: 25.0 has been released. I have not yet tested thoroughly for any undocumented fixes, as there are usually at least a few, but as usual I will retest them as I find the time and mark off any that I notice are fixed. Notably Neeru’s third ability now fires 3 times as it should, however the sound bug still remains.

Changes have been made to the Neeru and UI sections.

Update 4: Mythic Boss Rush is upon us and there are a few bugs to note, but also some fixes. Bugs relating to Mythic Boss Rush will be added to a new section called “Mythic”. As many know, this update is the last planned content update for Hearthstone Mercenaries. It is somber news, but according to the post we should still expect balance changes and bug fixes. If we do see bug fixes I will do my best to note them for as long as I can.

Changes have been made to the Medivh, Nemsy and Rattlegore sections. Sections have been added for Lilian, Mr Bigglesworth and Mythic. Others may change as I discover/test new interactions.

Medivh:

  • Arcane Rift does not make the next arcane ability crit, instead it makes the next
source of arcane damage crit (for example, Millhouse’s Greater Arcane Missiles will
only crit for the first projectile).
    (Resolved - 25.4)

Ysera:

  • Emerald Dream (Nightmare) is not affected by Shadow speed/damage modifiers. (As of patch 24.6, Nightmare no longer has the Shadow tag. Unsure if this was an intended change)
  • Emerald Dream (Nightmare) is affected by nature speed modifiers. (See above)
  • Emerald Dream (Nightmare) has a bugged enchantment description. It does not
state the attack gained, instead showing “+{0} attack”, and for the damage taken,
    showing “takes 1} damage”.
    (Resolved - 24.6)
  • Emerald Dream does not show the player choice during combat, and the history
tile just shows the target/effect of the card chosen.
  • Emerald Oracle has incorrect text for it’s base ability. The first choice will make
friendly units faster for that turn only, not the target specifically,
and not their next ability, and can also target minions. The second choice cannot
    target enemies.
    (Resolved - 24.6)
  • Emerald Oracle is missing a space between “Choose One:” and “Their” (Resolved - 24.6)
  • Verdant Breath can attempt to heal friendly dragons that are at full health even if there is another friendly dragon that is damaged. This is inconsistent when compared to Anduin’s Penance ability.

Bwonsamdi:

  • Irrefusable Deal is considered 2 abilities. (triggers effects such as Lokholar’s Frigid
    Winds twice)
  • New Client does not trigger battlecries.
  • New Client will sometimes allow the merc it summoned to act, if it had an action
queued during that turn, and died before being able to use it.
  • New Client will trigger certain start of game effects of the revived mercenary, such
    as Monkey’s Paw for Elise.
  • Irrefusable Deal (Deal of Fear) will prevent the attacked this turn flag from being
removed for the following turn, allowing Yu’lon to be able to deal 40 base damage
with her Jade Gust ability, even if the target did not attack that turn.
  • Irrefusable Deal (Deal of Fear) will prevent frozen characters from becoming
unfrozen next turn (only occurs in PvE).
  • If Bwonsamdi is sent to the bench before the end of turn after having used
Irrefusable (Deal of Fear), the Deal of Fear card will still show up at the end of the
turn, but nobody will be sent to the bench.
  • The end of turn effect of Irrefusable Deal (Deal of Fear) will trigger effects such as Lokholar’s Frigid Winds equipment. In this case the added frost damage is kept until the end of the following turn.
  • In PvE, frozen enemies will remain frozen for an additional turn if they are sent to the bench by Irrefusable Deal (Deal of Fear). This can be repeated indefinitely until the ability is not used.

Neeru:

  • Imp-losion fires once instead of 3 times. (Resolved 25.0)
  • Wild Imps end of turn effect and deathrattles count as abilities cast (triggering
Lokholar’s Frigid Winds for example. Lokholar will keep the bonus frost damage
for the following turn for the end of turn effect).
  • Wild Imps can disable Aranna’s Iambic Pentameter with their end of turn effect. (Resolved - 25.0)
  • Command Demon cannot summon golden Wild Imps, however Burning Blade
Portal can summon golden Wild Imps if Neeru is using a portrait other than the
    default one.

Murloc Holmes:

  • Elementary! can cause Yrel’s Vindicator’s Fury to trigger it’s deathblow twice if only
a single character dies from the additional attack trigger (even if the initial attack
    did not kill anything).
  • And The Killer Is! (Last On The Scene) does not have a visible enchantment on
either Holmes or the target to indicate that this effect is in play,
nor which unit is in control of it. This has caused confusion for people who
assumed the effect would only occur for one combat.

Tess:

  • Yoink! and Moonlight Resolve! do not properly steal abilities that have been
modified by equipment (For example, Brann’s Summit Campfire
will always be 3 speed and give frost resistance if stolen by Tess, even if Brann is is
using Adventurer’s Backpack for shadow resistance).
  • Princess Power! is unaffected by speed modifiers. (Resolved - 25.0)
  • What I’m Capable Of can cause an infinite loop if repeated by Brann’s The
Bronzebeard Spirit ability, or by rolling into Oh My Yogg! mutliple times.
    (Resolved - 25.0)
  • Tess cannot steal Kazakus’ True Shape ability / Tess can steal Wrathion’s True Form
ability (Both of these should have the same result).
  • Task 10 does not count shadow damage dealt by Tess if the ability is a copied
    shadow ability.
  • Enemy abilities from the Princess Power! ability’s discover effect and Tools of the
Trade equipment are viewable at the start of the game when hovering over Tess
while she’s in hand. (Please keep this one as a feature, it’s so cool and adds so
much flavor to her kit. I’m only bringing it up because context is needed below).
    (Resolved - 25.4)
*Tools of the Trade still shows abilities but Princess Power! no longer does
  • All discovered abilities from Princess Power! will stack in the bench tooltip,
including those from previous uses of the ability. This can lead to incredibly large
amounts of unnecessary text clutter if Tess is ever sent to the bench. This may
affect other discover effects, though I have not tested them yet.
    (Resolved - 25.4)
  • As of 25.4, Cloak of Shadows no longer allows ‘Yoink!’ or ‘Moonlight Resolve!’ to permanently steal abilities. They will still only be single-use copies.

Garona:

  • One and The Same is unaffected by speed modifiers. (Resolved - 25.0)
  • Copies of Garona from mirror image will have a broken One and The Same ability
with no discover options, which can be used to no effect.
    (Resolved - 25.0)

Yogg Saron:

  • Oh My Yogg! can cause an infinite loop if repeated by Brann’s The Bronzebeard
    Spirit ability.
    (Resolved - 25.0)
  • Lunatic Gaze can swap the speed of passive treasures in PvE, which are by default 0 speed. (Noticed with the Full Belly treasure)

Korrak:

  • Korrak’s Blood Rage ability does not seem to properly distribute it’s damage. Instead it will all be directed towards a single target, or split evenly amongst a random amount of enemies.
  • Korrak’s Mounting Anger is reset if he dies and is resurrected by his deathrattle.
  • Korrak’s Eat the Dead ability is reset if he dies and is resurrected by his deathrattle (but increases by one stack for the minion he destroys).
  • Hovering over Korrak while he is in play reveals a tooltip for a ‘Silence’ mechanic that not he nor any other Mercenary, collectible or not currently has access to.
  • If Korrak dies and is resurrected by his deathrattle at least once, he will always survive for the next fight, even if he died and was not brought back afterwards by the end of the fight.

Khadgar:

  • Task 8 requires that Arcane Surge not be upgraded, and cannot be achieved by
    other sources of arcane damage.
  • Task 9 requires that Hearthfire not be upgraded, and cannot be achieved by other
    sources of attack/health buffs.
  • Task 10 requires that Blizzard not be upgraded, and cannot be achieved by other
    sources of frost damage.
  • Task 14 Same as Task 9.
  • Speed modifiers work strangely with Archmage Khadgars Triune Supremacy
ability. Valeera’s Unnatural Smoke only speeds up these abilities by 1 at max rank
    for example.

Nefarian:

  • The Shadowflame effect counts as an additional shadow ability cast for each
    dragon affected by it.

Hooktusk:

  • Cutthroat Negotiations Rank 1 (protector) is 7 speed, other forms and ranks of this
    ability are 2 speed.
    (Resolved - 24.6)

Aranna:

  • Aranna can be returned to the bench by Edge Cancel if she died from the attack
    (either negative life, or poison)
    (Resolved - 24.6)
  • Iambic Pentameter has odd behaviour when she uses Aggrobatics on enemies
with taunt. Sometimes the equipment will only reduce the attack of an enemy mid-
attack, and sometimes it will fail to work at all on one or both enemies opposite
    her.
    (Resolved - 25.0)

Genn:

  • Genn’s Smooth Tranformation equipment triggers on the bench. (Resolved - 24.6)
  • Genn (Worgen) can target himself and allies with Ankle Breaker. (Resolved - 24.6)

Nemsy:

  • Additional Boggies summoned with the Dream Brew treasure in PvE while Bog
Moss is equipped will have the text “adjacent characters take 0 less damage”,
and will not reduce incoming damage.
  • Boggy summoned by Nemsy’s battlecry with a golden portrait are properly golden, however if Boggy dies and is resummoned with Boggy Blast, he will not be golden.
  • Nemsy’s ‘Your Mother Was a Murloc’ treasure can be used multiple times in a game despite stating that it can only be used once.

Brightwing:

  • Brightwing’s Ring’s effect of pulling Brightwing from the bench can cause Merc
positions to be desynced between the two clients and the server.
This can cause issues when players attempt to use skills which affect adjacent or
opposite mercs, as they will visually appear to be in different positions to where
they actually are. It appears under these conditions Brightwing’s position
can even be an invalid one in game, causing Brightwing and potentially her allies
    to become
immune to abilities such as Maestra’s Shfiting Strike temporarily.
  • Brightwing’s Ring will not trigger if a friendly merc died while your board is full, despite there being a spot empty to fill. This behaviour is not shared with Maestra’s Mask of The Mummy equipment, nor with Patches ‘I’m In Charge Now’ equipment under the same conditions.

Varden:

  • Varden’s Chilling Amulet equipment’s deathrattle damage ignores frost resistance.

Long’xin:

  • Starfire Blessing can deal damage even if Long’xin dies from the source of
damage. This particular bug was introduced in the same patch where Trigore was
changed to not be able to retaliate with his Backlash ability if he died at the same
time as his adjacent allies, such as from an AoE skill.

Brann:

  • The Bronzebeard Spirit cannot properly repeat discovered abilities (tested on Archmage Khadgar’s Triune Supremacy ability and Finley’s Murlocology ability).
  • The Bronebeard Spirit is prone to infinite loops when repeated, which eventually force a draw (see Tess and Yogg). (Resolved - 25.0)

Baine:

  • Earthmother’s Fury does not trigger on deathblow, instead it triggers on overkill. in other words, it will only trigger if it deals excess damage to the enemy it kills.

Finley:

  • Murlocology does not show the ability chosen during the combat phase, nor its speed. It is also not visible in the history tiles.
  • Murlocology can not trigger the deathblow of Cookie’s Fish Feast ability (May affect other deathblows and discover effects).
  • Finley’s Maxwell, Mighty Steed equipment will reset and reapply its health buff to murloc minions at the end of the turn if they took damage during the combat, pseudo-healing them for 10 health.

Rattlegore:

  • When Rattlegore is resummoned by Bwonsamdi’s New Client equipment, Rattlegore will properly have the deathrattle of his equipment, however his card text will be blank.
  • Rattlegore’s Boneflame! ability text in english reads as though it can target allies, however it can only target enemies. (Resolved - 25.4)
  • If Rattlegore is sent to the bench after using Confusing Bruising on the same turn, he will die on the bench. This is not itself necessarily a bug, but he will still visually appear on the bench as if he is alive. This is the same bug which occurs if you send a Samuro illusion to the bench.
  • When Rattlegore is resummoned by his Ratting Bones or A Solid Education equipments, following abilities targeting him that turn are randomised. This is presumably because the resummoned version is an entirely new entity with new base stats as opposed to being resummoned from the graveyard, like with Cairne.
  • Confusing Bruising’s cooldown does not show up on the top right of the ability card. It is however present in-game.
  • In PvE, if Rattlegore is resurrected at least once by either his Rattling Bones or A Solid Education equipments, he will always survive for the next fight, even if he died and was not brought back afterwards by the end of the fight.
  • If Rattlegore is resummoned by A Solid Education or Rattling Bones, his cooldown will be reset to its original value.

Karathress:

  • Hull Breaker does not work as intended. The initial use of Cataclysmic Bolt has 1 cooldown correctly, however subsequent uses have 2 cooldown. Additionally the card appearance in-game shows up as having 3 cooldown.

N’Zoth:

  • Spawn of N’Zoth will not attack when being summoned if N’Zoth is using the ‘Evolving Might’ equipment. This appears to be because the minion is transformed when summoned, which removes the charge target. (Resolved - 25.4)

Chromie:

  • Chromie’s Chaos Theory equipment reuses the Toki animation from the Witchwood adventure. This would be fine, but it includes the blurred Toki and enemy hero portraits at the top and bottom of the screen. (Resolved - 25.2)
  • If Chromie’s Chaos Theory equipment triggers multiple times in a single match due to being resurrected, she will not rewind to the turn that the newly resummoned Chromie died on, but instead the turn which the original Chromie had rewound to.
  • Chromie’s Chaos Theory equipment does not reset the rope timer (Tested with 2 friendly Chromie’s dying on the same turn via Bwonsamdi’s New Client equipment. This may have an effect on the results)
  • If 2 friendly Chromie’s die on the same turn via Bwonsamdi’s New Client equipment, and the original had an active Chaos Theory equipment, the Chaos Theory health buff is lost.
-The new animation given to Chromie’s Chaos Theory equipment misaligns the UI temporarily after being triggered.

Onyxia:

  • Onyxia’s base portrait is missing her entrance animation.

Chi-ji:

  • The baby portrait of Chi-ji causes his death sound to play when he is summoned (either by a player or an AI encounter).

Mr Bigglesworth:

  • Mr Bigglesworth’s ‘Protect the Master’ treasure works while he is not on the board, or even dead.

Lilian:

  • Lilian’s ‘Blades of The Annointed’ equipment is stated to be unlocked by completing The Annointed Blades bounty with no difficulty specified, however it cannot be unlocked at all.
  • Reluctant Leadership activates Lokholar’s Frigid Winds equipment for each undead that lilian forces to deal damage. This is inconsistent with other interactions, such as Kel’thuzad with the Bloodsurge equipment, which will not grant additional buffs under these conditions.

Garrosh:

  • Garrosh’s Duelling Gauntlets equipment prevents Mak’Gora from granting damage resistance when he is within the health threshhold to battle to the death.

Rokara:

  • Rokara’s second portrait is not Horde. This is not purely visual and affects gameplay as well.

Kel’Thuzad

  • The text of Kel’Thuzad’s Frost Blast ability is not updated when there is spell damage on the field. The correct amount is still dealt.

Varian:

  • As of 25.4, Varian’s Heroic Leap ability does not deal damage. (Resolved 25.4.1)

Vol’Jin:

  • Vol’Jin’s ‘A Slow Burn’ treasure works from the bench, and also deals damage when a fight is ended due to a victory, dealing damage to the merc you used to deal the final blow.

Sylvanas:

  • Sylvanas’ reworked Shadowmourne equipment works from the bench.

Wrathion:

  • The effect of Creeping Madness will proc for each character that acts on the following turn if the merc affected is on the bench.
  • True Form grants its health buff twice when Horn of Wrathion is equipped.

Kazakus:

  • Kazakus’ Master of Puppets treasure does not summon one of each golem as it states. It instead summons 3 of his rush golems, but with the stats and effects of each different golem. This distinction means that all golems are 5 speed and have the art of the rush golem. Additionally what should be the actual rush golem summoned from this treasure, does not have rush.

Mythic:

  • Several renown upgrades do not grant their additional benefits and instead use their rank 4 equivalent bonuses in-game. Some of these include Thrall’s Ring of Strength equipment, Yu’lon’s Jadeflame Spear equipment, Chi-Ji’s Blazing Band equipment, and Varden’s Band of Frost equipment.
  • If you upgrade a maxed mercs ability, equipment or treasure with renown, and then navigate to a non-maxed merc, upon clicking one of their abilities or equipments, a bugged upgrade animation will play. This will softlock the game and force you to restart.
  • Rexxar’s ‘Mama Bear Claws’ equipment appears to increment by +2/+4 for every renown upgrade, but in-game it actually applies a buff equivalent to +4/+4 for every renown upgrade. For example at level 10, the equipment states that it applies +16/+28, but actually applies +28/+28 when activated.

General:

  • Minions do not count as abilities (does not trigger effects such as Lokholar’s Frigid
    Winds or Medivh’s Unstable Runes).
  • Charge minions not summoned from abilities directly will no longer attack
    (including C’thun’s Mind Flay Deathblow).
  • Discover abilities which are clicked and then canceled will have their borders
misaligned when clicked again (Noticed for both Garona and Tess).
  • The Shade of Aran bossfight appears to be disqualifying players from the “Shut
Up, Dad” achievement for the enemy changing their own roles, as well as enemies
changing your roles to themselves ie. protector to protector, fighter to fighter, and
caster to caster, which is inaccurate to the description of how it should be earned.
(Allegedly fixed in 24.6, however I have not attempted it yet)
  • The Evasive Chimaera enemy in Winterspring has an ability with incorrect text.
Corrosive Spit states “Bleed (1)”, when it actually deals 1 damage, and also applies
1 bleed. It should say “Deal 1 damage. Bleed (1)”.
  • Passive bleed effects can sometimes be disabled if the bleed is removed by healing prior to a second instance being afflicted on the same character from the same enemy. This appears to only affect characters with passive bleed effects, such as the Venomous Scorpid enemy in The Barrens area.
  • Passive effects from enchantments are inconsistent as to whether or not they work on the bench. Malfurion’s Cenarian Surge will speed up nature abilities if he’s on the bench next turn, Sinestra’s Twilight Extinction will trigger on the bench, Mr Smite can gain health from Overboard, Yu’lon can block taunt/stealth with Jadeflame Buffet from the bench, but Tyrael’s Angelic Protection does ‘not’ work on the bench, nor the damage from Ysera’s Emerald Dream (Nightmare) ability.
  • Some PvE mercenary encounters can occasionally contain duplicate mercenaries. I have personally encountered 2 Mutanus on several occasions as well as 2 Morgl on one, and 2 Murk-Eye on another.
  • The Faireground Fool enemy in The Darkmoon Troupe area has incorrect text for their deathrattle. It states Deal 10 damage for each friendly character that has died this game when it actually deals 10 damage to ALL enemy characters, increased by 10 for each friendly character that died this game.
It should read Deal 10 damage to all enemies. Increase by +10 damage for each other friendly character that died this game
  • The Stage Hand enemy in the Ringmaster Whatley boss fight within The Darkmoon Troupe has a battlecry of give a random friendly character +5/+5, however it does not work, even if played from the bench.
  • The passive effect of the Yogg-Saron boss in The Darkmoon Troupe is considered an ability, meaning the wheel can trigger effects such as Prince Malchezaar’s All Realities ability. This is pretty cool from a farming perspective, but I do believe it’s a bug. (May be related to the next point)
  • The mechanics of the Come On Down! treasure can lead to unusual behaviour. The way it appears to be implemented is that the wheel is spun, and then the ability is temporarily given to the merc that used it, and then used. This can cause a bug in which if Mystery Box is rolled, the Doubling ability can be used which will copy the merc mid-action. At the end of the turn, the clone from Doubling will have the Mystery Box ability as a fifth option permanently (without an appropriate graphic to accomodate).
  • Sometimes after a disconnect, you will be unable to choose abilities after reconnecting. You will be forced to hit the ready button, and it will be highlighted green. This appears to happen because the game confuses the fight phase with the ready phase.
  • If a friendly challenge is cancelled while the other player is still in the victory screen, the message popup for the other player will say the party has been disbanded instead of the challenge was cancelled. Additionally the player who receives this message will be navigated to a broken challenge screen once they exit the victory screen.
  • Medivh (boss) Echoes of Us All ability does not copy role changes (Noticed with the Anima Antigens treasure on Vanessa Vancleef)
  • In order to fix certain discover abilities being unaffected by speed increases, the base speed of them (while still hidden) was increased to 20 up from 0. This however means that Vashj’s Electrify ability will always be reduced by 20 damage when targetting an enemy using this ability, and The Lich King will consider any ability used to be 7+ speed when using his Helm of Domination Equipment.
  • Some abilities which summon additional Mercs in play (such as those from The Curator, Whatley and Medivh bosses), will summon excess mercs to the bench if they do not fit on the field. In the case of my encounter with Medivh, the copy of my own Kazakus also appeared to gain an additional copy of my treasure.
  • The text of Garrosh Hellscream (boss) states that he restores health when ‘any’ character casts a Shadow ability, however it only triggers when one of his allies uses a Shadow ability.
  • The Nightbane Templar enemy in the Nightbane boss fight has the text “After another character is attacked, restore 20 health to them”, when in fact it only restores 20 health to its allies when they are attacked.

UI:

  • Clicking on your mercenaries at a moderate rate after the ready button has been
clicked at the beginning of a match, but before the abilities show up will stall the
    game start animation
  • Changing the equipments of mercenaries from the fighting pit sidebar does not
update them until the mercenary is viewed from another screen
such as the bounty sidebar, or collection manager.
  • Changing the position of Merc teams in the collection manager, then opening a
shifted team, and then attempting to return to the Mercs main screen will very
often cause a menu loading error, erasing changes that were made to teams
during that time. This also forces the user to restart the client in order to navigate
to the Mercs main screen again.
  • Viewing the portraits of any mercenary with a scrollable portrait window will keep
each portrait trigger until the collection is reopened.
This creates an overlap, and also leads to situations where you can switch your
portrait with one that is not currently visible, or receive an “open in packs” error
    prompt.
  • The Mercenaries icon in the middle of mercenary cards within the collection
manager does not appear to be a part of the cards itself. This causes a jittering
effect when moving your mouse across it.
  • When viewing a mercenary, moving their equipped equipment off of the slot
(without releasing the mouse), and then back onto it will correctly keep it
equipped, however, if you then drag a new equipment over the slot (once again without releasing the mouse) and then off of it, upon releasing the mouse it will unequip your current equipment.
  • Hovering over a card/ability with the ‘Charge’ keyword will show the tooltip for both
    Traditional Hearthstone, and Mercenaries.
    (Resolved - 24.6)
  • The keyword for searching for Mercenaries that have an ability or equipment that
the player has enough coins to upgrade (in english) is not ‘upgrade’, it is ‘upgrad’,
with 0 or more characters preceding or proceeding (with the exception of a
whitespace followed by a non-whitespace character). This makes the search
“asdfupgradasdf” for example a valid keyword for searching for mercs with
    upgrades available.
  • Selecting an ability which needs a target too fast after combat will cause the ability window of the next mercenary to open prior to selecting a target. After selecting a target for your initial merc, the second mercs ability window will close, and the third will open.
  • When selecting a target, sometimes an enemy will be highlighted as if they will be taking crit damage incorrectly. IE when targeting with a protector, sometimes enemy casters will be highlighted as critable targets.
  • Portraits in the collection manager. This one is a bit complicated to explain purely through text so I’ll provide a few clips, but certain elements remain between instances of the portrait manager such as those for changing the portrait when changing the portrait page, and certain UI elements are on top layers when they shouldn’t be. https://imgur.com/a/cfwrzm2
  • Mercenary task chains that are completed show the text “GLUE LETTUCE VILLAGE TASK DONE” in the progress bar instead of “Completed” or some other relevant text. (Resolved - 25.0)
  • As of 25.0, the French translation of Mercenaries does not tell players the bounty they need to complete for visitor tasks when the task is for a normal bounty. (Resolved according to sources - 25.2)
  • Voicelines for mercenary task chains have been removed as of 24.6.
  • When completing the last bounty of an zone that you have already completed (or Neeru in The Barrens), sometimes the “Zone Unlocked” popup for the next area will show up, even though it is already unlocked.
  • Toggling the Renown View in the collection manager does not affect the search function, and so it will continue to match treasures despite the treasure screen being locked when the Renown View is turned off. This makes it difficult to search for things in normal gameplay, as searching “Beast” for example will still show mercenaries that only have Beast synergy from Mythic treasures.
  • The heroic version of The Anointed Blades bounty is misspelled as “The Annointed Blades”. This may be related to why Lilian’s equipment unlock for that bounty does not work.

Impressive work! Sadly, many bugs have been known for some time and reported, however, they still remain not fixed, so I would not keep my expectations high.

There’s also this: Mercenaries: Ysera's Verdant Breath is a problem

Well, if it’s a ‘discover an ability’ kind of thing, then it might as well be two abilities, technically speaking.

I don’t think they should.

I appreciate the input. I tried to be as objective as possible with reporting by using logic, established mechanics and consistency when it came to what to write down. I have not yet tested the Ysera Verdant Breath bug for myself, and so did not write that one down, but I was made aware of it prior.

The Bwonsamdi interaction with Lokholar is inconsistent with other “discover” abilities. Abilities such as Ysera’s Emerald Dream and Tess’ Princess Power! only trigger it once.

You’re right however that there is a precedent for Tess not being able to discover modified abilities due to Blink Fox sharing this behaviour, however logically I feel a “copy” should be a copy, benefits and all. It’s possible that the reason for this is an attempt at futureproofing. Hovering over Korrak when he is in play reveals a tooltip for a currently unused “silence” mechanic, which is stated to “Remove all card text, equipment, treasures and enchantments”. I believe this is an error because Bwonsamdi does not share this tooltip with his New Client equipment, and because Korrak does not lose his equipment when he revives, however it does give some valuable insight into the direction the game may lead in the near future, and why certain interactions exist in the way that they do now.

My reasoning, which didn’t make it into the final edition of the previous post, was the following: the equipment in question is a passive property of a mercenary itself, not the ability that it modifies.

In my opinion, it often reveals sloppy and inconsistent (done in an ad hoc fashion) coding behind the scenes. I’ve reviewed an instance of in on the forum — in my opinion, it tells about even more mess behind the scenes than meets the eye.

Thank you for doing this. All of this in one place definitely makes it easier to keep reminding devs to either fix the bugs or acnowledge that they’re features (like… maybe charge is supposed to work this way?)

One more bug (or possible feature)

Eudora’s PvE Treasure:
Cannon Barrage: "Passive. Eudora's cannons Fire twice"
seems not to work - though another person (I cannot find their original bug report) reported that it only doesn’t work with the cannon summoned by the Prime Armaments Equipment.

It’s been known for some time, but so have numerous other bugs. I could probably link quite a few, although it’s unclear whether the purpose of this topic was to track newly introduced issues in 24.4.

A lot of the new mercs abilities are worded so strangely that I’m left scratching my head about how they’re supposed to work. So some of them may well be features not bugs.

I think that might be worth it to accumulate all these bugs in one place, make it easier to remind the devs what’s still broken.

I think you’re quoting the chat chain of the person who posted to the patch notes that I couldn’t remember, and a user called “horsy” mentioned that it’s likely the battlecry vs ability created cannon. Also, I also reported it back in the beginning of August: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/hearthstone/en/hearthstone/t/mercenaries-eudoras-cannon-barrage-broken/92239

Just to show why I have a horse in this particular race

Right? But I’d like some clarity so that I know to stop reporting them as bugs

Ideally, they should have a bugzilla or something like that… I underline ‘ideally’. As for this one, I would also want the author’s opinion.

I’m aware of what I’m quoting… There’s the report and a reply to it with further details.

Well, so far I’m a bit ahead of you. :grinning: But yeah, there are so many essentially duplicate threads or posts in this forum.

I meant to just say: thank you, you found the thread which I was referring to (but in more words because I don’t know who else will click the link to see the chain). And yeah, OP, if you don’t want other bug reports to accumulate here let us know but I took your post as an invitation to collect Mercenaries bugs.

Well, so far I’m a bit ahead of you. :grinning:

Proof or it didn’t happen

Isn’t it sad how the community has to do their own QA for the game because the devs can’t be bothered to test their own features before they release them?

Oh, my good man, you’ve not been paying attention: above I’ve linked a thread from June-July, where, by the way, the esteemed horsy and yours truly had already participated then.

Well, it is what it is… I believe we’ve already discussed it elsewhere.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind if the mode was considered beta, and we were testers — the problem is, so far the communications has been… lacklustre even regarding issues already tested and reported by the community.

PS

I understand that the purpose is also to collect confirmed bug reports — I’ve seen a number of topics where either I could not reproduce the issue or people have been outright bad at reading patch notes, obscure as they are, or doing any kind of search on the forum before posting and reporting non-existent ‘issues’ (party-specific equipment is probably the most common by far, from what I’ve seen) — not to mention a lot of duplicate posts or threads.

Oh whoopsie, you’re right I should have checked all the documentation you provided.

“'confirmed bug reports,” despite your emphasis I don’t understand what you mean. Confirmed by whom? And how does the Eudora cannon issue not fit those parameters? I can confirm from my experience that cannon barrage is not working, and I found a person who claims that in fact it does work in certain cases that I didn’t test to acknowledge that there may be more to it. Or do you mean confirmed by devs? In which case I have not seen the devs confirm that e.g. the way charge works is a bug and not a feature.

Agreed.

Just as an example, it took me forever to figure out that Finley’s ability that gives a divine shield if you have “more characters” meant not that there were more of your characters left to act, but that you have more characters in your party than your opponent. I thought it was bugged at first, but maybe I’m just dense.

Anyone is more than welcome to share bugs that they have personally encountered here. I’d just ask that third-party accounts of bugs be kept to a minimum to avoid false flags. Also, and this isn’t directed towards anyone in particular, I’d appreciate if the thread could remain civil. I’d like us all to assume that the post ‘will’ be read by someone on the Mercenaries team, regardless of whether or not we get a reply.

For clarity, the goal of the post was to report all of the bugs that I personally have encountered, or those that I can reproduce, in version 24.4, but not bugs necessarily exclusive to the version. I will likely not be taking any actions towards confirming for myself those encountered in the replies, at least not anytime soon. Maybe a couple of patches down the line I will make another post and include those, or edit this one accordingly. Hopefully at that time I can also remove some as well.

If you read the first post, you will noticed how the author insisted on personally confirming the bugs reported.
If you ask me, having it done by someone from the community, at the very least, would be nice. The purpose is to avoid so many false reports that emerge here occasionally.
As for developers… It takes time for them to acknowledge some issues, and others are never documented e.g. in patch notes even despite having been fixed.

Well I’m not insisting he include it on his personal list. I am trying to understand how you want me to change my behavior. I thought it would be fine for me to post issues I’ve noticed under this post. And you have a problem with it. Or are you just debating me for the fun of it?

Makes sense to me, I have no intent of spreading bugs that I haven’t encountered either.
