Going Against 1000+ Win People First Wild Match?

Returning player on a new account. Haven’t played since ~2018. New player experience has been inviting and fun, and I’m appreciative of the effort put into giving catch-up decks and filling up a collection.

I’m at level 46 on the season track and time’s moving quickly. I would love to finish it before the next season… but don’t think I can. The forums told me that a bunch of gameplay achievements give a good portion of experience towards the track, so I opted to try for these. And I did it in Wild. Big mistake?

I’ve never played more than casual on this account. My first 5 matches in Wild have been against people with fully gold decks, 1000+ win portraits, cards beyond my wildest dreams, and one guy even played that druid that gives you 20 mana, had a turn 5 that played over 30+ cards, ending with Mech-C’Thun or whatever and won.

I mean… … …ok? Hate to complain about wild mode, but the fact that I’m considered a brand new player and I’m going against this at Rank 10 x8 stars or whatever is turning me off from continuing this game and supporting it at all. I expected to lose, especially in wild, but I can’t even get past turn 5 to make anything happen towards these achievements. Kinda a big bummer. Is standard any better, or is this game lost to whales and bots at all ranks still?

Most decks in wild are very overpowered, and going past turn 5 does not happen very often. You are better off playing standard as a new player

Thank you! I’m going to start on Standard now. So many youtube videos promote Wild as the place to get these achievements, but its not working for me.

I’m a little upset I can’t get achievements in a more quick-play style mode. Overwatch and a few other games allow achievements via modes that don’t pivot based on a ranking system. But whatever. Thanks, friend!

I also enjoyed duels for achievement hunting as your starting deck is smaller and you are more likely to draw the cards needed to complete the achievement, but that mode is being discontinued in a few weeks
