Favorite Class and First Class You Played

Hey Hearthstone players!

I’m curious about everyone’s journey in the game:

  • What was the first class you ever played when you started Hearthstone?

  • What is your favorite class to play now?

For me, I started with Paladin and it’s still my favorite class to this day.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else picked!

I researched what was the hardest class in the game to play, and the answers I got were rogue and warrior (at the time). So I decided to play both of them, but I ended up liking Warrior a lot more and have mained it for years now.

Started playing as Paladin, because I had the Liadrin skin. Playing Warlock now because I like Umbra.

I’m trying to level all the classes so as soon as I max one out I quit playing it for another one not max leveled.

First class was probably Paladin and I’ve enjoyed playing many Paladin decks over the years. The class I’ve gained the most wins on is also Paladin, but I’ve probably enjoyed my time playing Priest more. Shaman would be a cozy 3rd.

Started with Mage and still play it here and there but I mainly play Shaman.

The Morgl hero skin was the first skin I saved Gold for and was very happy when I was finally able to buy it.

I started with Paladin in closed Beta, also tried out Mage, Priest, Warlock, Hunter. Gathered about 100 wins with each. Left for years, returned 4 years ago and choosed Paladin to master because I liked it’s Holy Knight concept and I was a Paladin tank in Wow for 7 years. I returned with almoast zero experience and started to build my own decks after dusted all my old cards. Solo adventures helped me a lot to return to the game for free because it gave tons of Legendaries. Didn’t even know what meta means at that time.. just played against others and figured things out on my own. First goal was to get the 500 win golden Uther portrait and then I got 1000 in no time. It was a real fun to cimb the ladder nice and slow with my own decks. Now I have more than 10 K wins and still playing Paladin only with my decks. I kept all my decks which has managedto climb higher and higher to remember how they changed my results.. but 27 decks are not enough anymore. Still keeping all my decks which has made it D5 atleast. They remind me to my successes. Thanks for the memories.

I usually play Paladin, but chose Priest lately because the whole community hates Murloc Quest Paladin and I kinda wanted my opponents to enjoy themselves in an atmosphere where everybody seems to pick one deck.

I do love Paladin, especially because Lady Liadrin is one of the main targets for portraits. But it’s nice to discover another class to love.

Choosing Priest actually worked out well for me… I got to Legend for the first time today with Protoss Priest. My nerves are completely wrecked, so I doubt I’ll seek Legend again, but I never got above Diamond 5 with Paladin. But I got the Achievement and the one-time-only Legendary card reward from reaching Legend.

So, I guess sometimes you get a result other than “no good deed goes unpunished.” I chose Priest to not make people bash their heads against the wall, and I got my Hearthstone dream to come true.

First class: Mage (2014).
After that, I played all classes equally. I don’t think I could play long term if I stuck with just one or two classes.
Favorite classes (sorted by total wins): Druid - Warrior - Rogue - Mage - Priest.
I have over 3k ranked wins with Druid and Warrior, almost 3k with Rogue, over 2k with Mage and Priest. All other classes are over 1k (except DH and DK, because I left before they came out).

In general, I’m a “just win baby” player and will play whatever class has a deck I think I can win with. In general, I prefer aggressive mid-range decks (rare these days, but Dragon/Logash warrior is an example in the current meta) but will play whatever I find I can win with. Historically, I’ve played a lot of Warlock, Hunter, and Mage (and, although I don’t remember for sure, one of these probably qualifies as my “first” class) but most of the others get some play, except for Priest. I don’t dislike Priest but there always seems to be something else I’d prefer to play. Shaman is pretty low on the list, too but there have been metas where I played a lot of Shaman.

Wow, I love seeing all these different journeys with the classes! It’s interesting how some of you stuck with your first class like Tman15tmb with Warlock, while others like Skybreach experimented and found a new favorite with Warrior. Fubar, I totally get that—Paladin can be fun to win with, but sometimes another class like Priest or Shaman just feels more ‘cozy’ to play.

For me, my favorite has always been Paladin. Even back in the Warcraft RTS games, I always loved playing Paladin, and that continued in World of Warcraft, where it’s still my favorite class to play. Now in Hearthstone, Paladin is naturally my go-to as well. I’ve tried other classes just to mix things up, but I always come back to Paladin—it just feels right for my playstyle.

I’m curious—has anyone ever picked up a class they initially didn’t think they’d enjoy, but ended up loving it? Or maybe a class you thought you’d stick with forever but ended up switching away from?

My first class was Druid. Mainly, because I drew Cenarion from a Booster Pack and didn’t realize how bad he was. He was my first Legendary, so I thought he must be awesome. They’re called legendaries for a reason, right? xD

My favorit class is Warrior. I love control decks, and sometimes like playing midrange for a change. Warrior is basically that. (Especially right know, with Quest Warrior and Dragon Warrior.)

I never thought I would like Warlock. Chose it purely because I liked the Umbra hero and now I like Warlock. Playing quest Warlock, so that might be why it is fun. :joy:

Wow, this thread keeps getting better — I love reading everyone’s stories!

Heini, I totally get that feeling of pulling a Legendary early and thinking it had to be amazing. :joy: Cenarion might not have aged well, but hey, he’s a true classic.

Aazhyd, switching from Mage to Priest is quite a jump! That’s a fun combo of flashy to thoughtful playstyles.

And Theozar — I love that you picked Warlock just because of the Umbra hero and ended up sticking with it. That’s exactly the kind of unexpected journey I was curious about.

Wtflag… 17k wins?! That’s wild! That’s some real dedication right there. Respect!

For me, my favorite has always been Paladin. I loved it back in the Warcraft RTS games, it was my main in World of Warcraft, and it just naturally carried over to Hearthstone. I’ve tried other classes over time, but I always end up coming back — something about the Paladin style just clicks with me.

Now I’m wondering — for those of you who’ve been around since beta, have your class preferences changed a lot over time? Or have you stayed loyal to the same one since the beginning?

Let’s see, first class was mainly mage, lots of time spent with the freeze mage combo: Ice Nova+Ice Block → Alex → fireball fireball frostbolt. There was some side action with druid and force of nature shenanigans, too.

After gnomes and goblins, more or less swapped to priest ever since. Back then, gilblin stalker into velen’s chosen was quite the play! God, I feel old.

First class: Mage (2014)

Favorite class: Mage

Across all my collections, I have played a ton of Mage, but I have a lot of wins with Paladin, Hunter, and Warlock.

I enjoy playing every class, but DH. Since DK is a fun class that is often good in Arena, I am racking up a lot of wins with that class.
