Darkmoon Faire Treasures

We paid $20 for the in-game currency “runestones” in order to purchase all Darkmoon Faire Treasures, only to see that after the first one, the price of in-game currency to unlock them increased.

This increase was not communicated and is inherently exploitative. I am a longtime hearthstone fan, and I will not be buying anything with you ever again!

You’ve lost one loyal Battlegrounds customer, and I hope many more.

What did you get from your rolls?

I’m almost gone as well. Battlegrounds with the addition of anomalies and trinkets made the mode unbearable.

Darkmoon faire treasures pretty much have my finger on the uninstall button.

Edit: for my free role, a pack of cards.

If unlucky math would have it it would take 9,000 runestones assuming an increase of 200 each roll.

Blizzard you are out of your minds and should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially after there being more than one occurrence of the multiple days making it so we couldn’t play.

I normally get the battlepass for battlegrounds but the stuff being introduced has just not been worth it. (Miss the legendary boards the last one I found worthwhile was for Winter Veil)

No. The increase is way more drastic than that. Unlocking all “treasures” costs 15.800 Runestones or $158.

It has been communicated

the cost increases with each additional pull

And in-game, right next to the purchase button there’s a big “i” that leads to the price information where each price is explicited

https://eu.support.blizzard.com/en/article/32545

Even when you try to pull with no runestones left, the 3 options that show are 200, 3500, or 15800 which corresponds to the first, 6 firsts, or all pulls

although yes that system is trash

It actually was communicated, they just didn’t really direct the player base to where they can find the information

they do
the pop up tells you about the “i”

I didn’t participate in this event until today when the yogg-saron mythic hero skin showed up as the ultimate prize. I didn’t initially push the extra information button, as it seemed quite obvious that spending $20.00 would get you the prize you wanted. I’ve bought other special hero skins in the past, like Kerrigan and Ragnaros, and while they were pricey, Blizzard was honest and up front about their costs. The darkmoon faire treasures event was highly deceptive, tricking players into getting ripped off. And yes, while they put the “i” button there for more info, they buried the fact that the cost would escalate so brutally at the very bottom of the page. I feel like I just got mugged. I would have spent a reasonable amount of money on the hero skin in the shop, but unless they apologize to their players and make amends for this travesty, they won’t get any more of my money.

I’ve played almost since the beginning and I’ve almost quit the game a few times over the years. The sunk-cost fallacy is part of the reason I’m still here, but I still get more enjoyment than frustration out of the game, but this experience has me rethinking things. I’m not going to rage quit, but Blizzard, you need to rethink your path. I wish I could get a refund on that $16.00 pack of runestones, but I’m not going to hold my breath. But, if you don’t apologize to those of us who still play your game and do something to make things right, you’ll lose a lot more than you will gain by robbing your players. I’ve talked to my friends who had the same experience, and they feel the same, they feel as if they were tricked and robbed. You can make a digital product and sell it at a reasonable price to lots of people rather than tricking and extorting those susceptible to gambling addiction as a means to make profit. I’m ashamed of you and lost a ton of respect for you today. Hopefully you can earn that respect back.

What makes you think that? And why $20? And how is the game supposed to know which prize you want?

Oh wait. After the free go, you thought you could get all the prizes for $2 each??

This is the 6th(?) time we’ve seen darkmoon faire in as many months. If you have been playing all that time, I would have thought you would know how it works by now.

As I said, there had never been a prize I had wanted before, so I never had reason to participate and learn how it worked.

same. I got a signature card or whatever, which is fine by me. That hero look didn’t really excite me that much.

I spent the last three days making sure to use the Darkmoon Faire free spin on 18 different collections (6 different accounts on all servers) before it ended, and I am half way through taking 18 more free spins, since a new Darkmoon Faire event just started.

Three or so events ago, I got the Argus pet on a free spin. During the last event, I got the End Time Garrosh hero portrait three times as the best free rewards. From the current event, the best free Darkmoon Faire prizes from 10 spins have been 3x Monster Slayer Vivian hero portrait and 2x gold packs.
