CPU usage going crazy

as i mentioned in the post on the other thread, the solution to the issue has already been found, and the reason blizz cant really fix it is because its a Unity issue, not specific to HS

tldr, ppl playing the Bazaar, incl me, figured it out as well, and its a threading issue, for Intel its mainly CPUs made for laptops/hybrid CPU’s, but the issue is mostly found in some Ryzen CPUs.

I had the issue before. (i got i7-7700k)
Applying the fixes mentioned, I dont anymore, as I had the issue when playing the Bazaar, and applied the fixes - issue was solved.
Had the issue again in HS, applied the fixes, no more issues.
Both run Unity, and its Unity which causes the CPU errors with it.

edit: Multiple sources causing issues, Unity is one of them - which this fix is specific to

Btw, due to it being so hyper-specific, and a Unity issue (which has existed for years, specific to Unity) the chances of Blizz making a fix to it is small as the ones affected is a small minority, and the cause of the issue is not of their design

hm I had vsync true for all games and programs in setting too; (but hard belive that unity and that option cancause hangs);

my PC :

win 10 1709 x64
64 GB rum (no pagefile and hybirnation)
Intel(R) Core™ i7-5930K CPU @ 3.50GHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (old stablke drivers 472.12 dx12)

check with proc explorer this thread use CPU a lot:
D:\Hearthstone\MonoBleedingEdge\EmbedRuntime\mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll
so Question what bad things on C++ doing devs to cause that bug; not power in unity but normal all must be on C#;

You are listing a unity specific folder.
After claiming doubt about this being a unity issue.

Not sure who talking about Vsync, but try look at the possible fix I linked above. Its helped a lot of people so far.

It didn’t help me, and apparently not for some others either, otherwise we wouldn’t be looking for another solution.

The problem isn’t exactly new; I suspect the developers already have it on their radar – there’s just no general solution for all PC configurations yet.

Having this issue too over the past few weeks, and it only happens in Hearthstone. CPU % maxes out and CPU temp goes as high as 90 C, which of course is concerning.

My specs:

i5 12400
32 GB RAM
RTX 3050 (although the GPU doesn’t seem to be the issue as it doesn’t get hot)
Windows 11

…and that reply wasnt to you, but the one who listed a folder specific to Unity, which is where the specific fix I was talking about comes into play.

If you are not affected by the specific issue, then dont complain about the fix, because it clearly doesnt relate to your issue xD
The Unity issue causes CPU trouble, which is why I mention the fix to people who seemingly havent tried it.
If your specific issue isnt related to Unity, then the fix is likely unrelated to your issue lol.

There is clearly multiple sources causing CPU issues, Unity is one of them, hence why the fix is worth trying if someone hasnt already.

to begin with, I was replying to someone else, dont quote me out of context as if I was replying directly to you, yikes

Have found a “solution” to my problem, or more accurately a workaround.

Went into Options, set the resolution to my native one (1920 x 1080), set Quality to Medium, and Framerate to Low.

Now after playing for a couple of hours my CPU utilization is around 10-20% and temps in the 60s.

Of course these settings are not ideal and I’m going to do more experimentation to see if all or just some of them are needed to keep the CPU cool.

Experienced this issue for the first time yesterday and again right now. Fan starts blowing and game slows down until it freezes completely and then I have to force End Task. Doesn’t do this for other Blizzard games, only this one.

yes looks like after last update issue appears more often.

now after that issue kill heart process and it hang on game reconnecting

bliz you are go in wrong way; maybe you need dev help my selary is not ensence but I am sure I can recreate and fix any bug in the world - so maybe propose me place in your dev team ???

Thank you this fixed it for me

Team-5 might be tempted to dismiss this as a “rare issue” but in reality, this problem is very common (reddit, some other community site argue this issue so frequency) Team-5 need to find out the cause.

Update: The key at least for me appears to be Frame Rate. It I keep it set to Low, everything is fine. If I set it to High, I overheat.

thanks i’ll try this and the -force-d3d11

Hi in your solution post you mention disabling GFX+GFX Native Job, I’ve already forced dx11 but im not sure how to do this and I didnt understand your explanation are you able to say how to do this in hearthstone?

Same here. Just tryin to kick algorythm to move priority on this. HS is unplayable.

Those settings arent always an option, but forcing DX11 turns those off by default, as they are an issue with how DX12 does stuff. In games Ive played where its not possible to change DX, its been possible to change those settings however, but Hearthstone gets the easy option

Ah, any other suggestions then because its forcing dx11 but my problem still there

Well, you havent said what your issue/problem is xD

The Unity fix is often the solution when the issue is high cpu heat - even if cpu load is low.
If CPU load is high as well and the heat rises in tandem with it, the issue is likely related to the FPS cap others mentioned above, or some other issue still not resolved
