Core set changes thread

you can play it on 7 on your second activation of elise summon 2/1 guys to get 3 lightning bolts minimum. It’s not gonna be hard to activate at least a couple of lightning bolts.

But, if they do it after a full year of lower power sets, old trash becomes the new good.

This is a very good idea to try, as the game has gotten kind of ridiculous on total power level. Balanced it may be, but it’s an unstable equilibrium at best. Slight nudges lead to huge dominance and awful experiences.

Even if they don’t succeed at making the game more fun, if they succeed at making the game less powerful I am all for it.

Sometimes i really think this is some sort of social experiment on how bad they can make mage before everyone stops playing it.

I also did try some shenanigans with imbue and new cards synergies in standard for mage and my answer even if the meta gets really really slower is.

Mage plays are too honest RN when it isn’t playing protoss or just generating random cards and this isn’t even about mana cheating but about being able to read into the next move.

As for the core. It is past time for blizzard to just make mage play normal archtypes.
And when i say normal i say same stuff as everyone else and not some meticulously curated archtype that only exist in mage.

Talk whizbang for example. Everyone was playing their miniaturize minions at that time but mage?
Blizzard literally nerfed khadgar out of spite when they noticed their half baked buffs to no minion mage would not be enough to make people play it.

Or when we got into the emerald dream.
Random generated cards are literally one of the theme of expansion so mage gonna get some random generation right?
No. Take a entire closed archtype about whisps.

“I felt a great disturbance in the Force… as if millions of Rogues suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced”. JAlexander’s tears fuel me from this day forward.

They made some bold choices and that’s what they needed to do. Not really surprised Warrior lost that much either as it was deserved. Nice to say they didn’t forget about DK either and removed explosion. Most of the classes lost at least one staple cards for the majority of their decks so that was a great move.

No Zero cost in core Neutral and Ceaseless rotating nerfs Eiise into the dirt. Good luck seeing that card in even 20% of decks post rotation especially since it’s also getting some other changes in the next balance patch. Those who don’t play rogue much will miss the fact that Wisp being removed is a stealth nerf to Rogue which is an unfortunate side effect of Elise. Would like to have seen Wisp remain.

That new Shaman legendary is kind of spooky. That could turn into a really ugly OTK mid game deck if the support is there.

I don’t know what to say about Mage other than if they created some card that triggered on board overflow then Khadgar in core would have made more sense. Maybe there is some new package build in the new set. They have done that before by creating 10 good cards to swing a class so there’s some hope.

Edit: So just had to check reddit and twitter and i was rewarded. Dude had a complete meltdown. Hilarious.

Just wait. We haven’t seen the new cards and Shaman has a 0-cost.

We also lose a lot of cards in rotation, so the card pool being smaller makes it harder overall. But as the year advances, I bet she pops back up more consistently.

Let’s not forget that rotating cards that come into core absolutely do not mean they are rotating in for support of an upcoming archetype. They have rotated cards in that get literally zero support the entire time.

Haven’t seen the new set yet so that was a comment purely based on core set. Yes shaman has a zero but the card is fighting for slots in shaman decks ATM. The card is also getting some change and since they are delaying that change i am betting the card is getting reworked. Might not even be a deck restriction anymore if it’s harsh enough.

Absolutely. I was spitballing what they would need to make this card playable. Not that it was going to be. The card is so old from a different game.

I really hope this is true, Mand, and it’s something I didn’t think of.

I mean its essentially a 7 mana deal 6 when you get right down to it. Utterly inefficient for a fast deck. I mean I already thought of a few ways to build around it for some gimmick decks so it could see play in another strategy. You’re really just better off building a board full of elementals and casting 2x fire breathe for 8+ damage which is far more consistent than it will be to play that card on curve.

But theres about 7 cards from my aggro list that are rotating out… mabye the shaman set ends up being bad enough it can make it as card 30 but unless they add in a bunch of spell / damage spell tutor cards to fill out a burn deck its just a 2 mana more expensive griftah.

Got time, energy and motivation for the first post only right now, haven’t read the rest of the topic.

Roguestone fanboi with a main-character syndrome detected, the latter — due to the irresistible urge to ignore the ‘official’ thread and start one’s own.

Ooh, nearly missed that (due to being tired, perhaps). You know what, I stand by the earlier proposal about the MCS.

About that and the rest of Roguestone, see, for example, this passage:

PS

Ooh, poor Roug fanboiz, they can’t imagine their life — and their self-image of Skillstone, apparently — without cards broken like Astalor on turn 1, even though they still have got some of the aforementioned ‘OP’ stuff and, come to think of it, they’ve still got stuff like Web of Deception.

Not that it’s new, for example:

PS Stuff like those Best Deals Anywhere is generally considered barely playable by those Roguestone fanboiz, and they think such cards very ‘skill-intensive’ (the image depicts a clown hat, or a Very High Skill Cap ™ )— yeah, APM, mon, not for ‘boomers’ or devices with slow animations!

You know; I don’t think anyone has speculated on what replaces the Shadowstep strategies?

I made fun as usual, but seriously, what does everyone think will take it’s place as the main Rogue strategy?

They’ll still have combos aplenty giving them great value for the low low price of ‘play another card first’

Personally I was really hoping to see the Rat leave again, instead they’re putting away the best neutral tool for getting an important battlecry back into our hands, bye bye brewmaster, you made Raf playable

So, they will still be the combo class, just without the zero cost reductions?

Lol at the rogue players crying about shadowstep leaving. Good riddance.

Anything, please. Anything.

To be honest, I think it will be the usual business as always. Except that they cannot abuse certain effects as easily this time around.

Aggro.
The most simple and brutal aggro.

Not what we have nowadays but the one that feels like a joke due to How much explosive Power It gonna put killing people turns 4/5.

The one that when well player looks even unfair.

Shadow of demise is there as extra burn on top of the normal burn while looking as “funny card” for the timmies.

They even returned one of the most agressive 1 drops in history.

so the deck i have been begging for a return of in mage will be in Rogue:)

Go play some rogue It Will be fun.

It’s good to change sometimes and give blizzard a time to decide what to do with mage.

Also i played wild elemental mage those days.
The deck is more or less like that too.

Wild elemental, I play now. It’s great:) Not as good in standard, and I think it is losing a pile of cards.

But Wild ele is fine, I just wish I had something new is all. Been playing it for a long time

I love Noggenfogger shenanigan but man.. I always found the card way too expensive to play even if just for fun.

I only play in Wild and the only archetype I could get some value out of Noggenfogger was with Priest that can call it early and raise it from death over and over to screw up face damage decks that use spells that can target anything.

It is a fun meme when it works but it rarely had won me any game at all.
