I opened a card pack, but when I went to disenchant any duplicates, it said I got 5 commons and no rares. Your wording says each pack has at least 1 rare or better.

Nope, because you got at least a rare or better.
Your other common probably came from another pack, and the rare or better you got in the pack you opened was not a duplicate (triplicate).
There has never been a pack with 5 commons. Ever. Never Ever. Prove it!

Did you get a golden card maybe? They class as better.
Golden Common cards are NOT classified as a rare or better card, because they are Common, not Rare, Epic, or Legendary.
